"We stayed at the caravan site next door and specifically came up for the night to dine at this restaurant, as we had done so in the summer. We were not disappointed. I had tempura mushrooms and aioli, while my husband had haggis, potato, and turnip in a whisky sauce, which he said was lovely. My starter was delicious. He enjoyed the burger, and I had the lamb curry with perfectly cooked rice, homemade flatbread, and pickle side. It was the best lamb curry I have ever eaten. We also enjoyed a lovely Chardonnay with our meal. The staff and service were excellent, and the prices were reasonable. The atmosphere was lovely, but we may try the bar next time as it appeared to have a slightly more relaxed vibe."

Scrummy seafood while sat out in the sun watching the boats come go. What more could you want. Nice place to wander off the calories too.

We dined here today with family for a birthday celebration and enjoyed great hospitality from the friendly staff. The food was lovely too and the setting with views across a picture perfect

All of us ordered multiple courses and each dish was delightful, consistently high quality and beautifully presented. This small restaurant in a quaint location truly left a lasting impression. View menu

Regrettably, distinctly average. Only one poor man serving, running around like crazy. Food was ok' but nothing compared to the other good reviews. Not really worth stopping here, such a shame.

We love it here! Not been for a few years as we have not holidayed in Kintyre of late, but The Tayvallich Inn is as good as ever. Super food and a warm welcome. What's not to like? Will not be so long till our...next visit......

After enjoying a delightful morning exploring Tayvallich open gardens and checking out the Art Map studios, we indulged in a delicious seafood lunch at a local restaurant. We started with mussels and then enjoyed some tasty stone bass. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was excellent, even with Covid restrictions in place. View menu

On holiday here and decided to give the Tayvallich Inn a visit. Had a lovely evening meal out. Booked easily online, good menu and very friendly and attentive staff. I had the smoked haddock fishcakes with crispy kale and caramelized onion puree as starter, fish...and chips done in a tempura batter for main; my wife had fish of the day, salmon with a prawn and caper sauce, and for dessert a lemon sorbet.

Visited during week’s stay around Argyll Bute and probably the best food we had, despite a couple of other places being excellent. Lovely location for both the village and the pub. Service excellent in every way, despite being one person on his own! Picked...from the Specials board and had beautiful dressed crab cooked with butter and breadcrumbs (gratin on top with a side of mussels; a fish gratin dish for my wife that she loved. Other dishes from menu looked almost as good! Good Loch Fyne ales. Limited opening hours during our Oct visit. Probably get’s very busy in summer – quite busy for the time of year when we visited. Highly recommended.

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"
