"This is by no means my first review of this lovely pub. But the consistency we find with their meals and the Sunday roast in particular is worth telling over and over. Today three of us all went for the roast beef melt in the mouth, and cut just as one wants it, rare for those of us who like it that way, through to well done if that's your preference. And served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pud, four seasonal vegetables (today it was red cabbage, broccoli, carrots and green beans) and lots of thick beef gravy. We chose not to have starters or desserts this time, opting for the large main meal alone and so ignoring the slightly smaller option. Today, had we not gone for the beef, we could have had the pork, which we have had on occasion, as it always comes with stuffing and perfect crackling. And it is always just as good great consistency that we've never found anywhere else, and price wise it's all amazing good value too. In short, it's hard to beat, on quantity, quality and price and little wonder therefore that it's always wise to book in advance. That said, Dave and Di run a place where nothing's too much trouble and they'll always fit you in if they can, but my advice is, when it comes to food this good, don't leave it to chance, pick up the phone and book. We already have, and we'll be back at our usual table next Sunday."

Came in for a drink and lunch with friends, drinks were okay, nothing really to fault but the atmosphere wasn't great and the owners weren't welcoming either. Not many vegetarian options so quite disappointed.

Went in for a drink. I ordered a pint, from a young lady who was more interested in talking to her mates. The beer was of the stone cold, tasteless type. It’s a cold, boring place to be with a cold pint of beer. So I just walked out. There are so many better places then this

Booked last minute for Valentines special, 2 steaks and bottle of wine. The wife had Fillet Steak, I had sirloin. Both cooked to perfection. Chips, mushrooms, salad ect were all great. Nothing to complain about. Amazing food. Great service. Great price. Will definitely be back.

Came here with my friends for a pub quiz. The owners were welcoming and accommodating, the quiz was engaging and challenging, there was food brought out to all participants; this was a very pleasant surprise and meant my friend didn't need to find somewhere to eat before we went home. Fantastic visit, even if we didn't win! Always nice to support a local pub, especially one like this, can't think of a better example for why we need to support local business. Thank you again for your hospitality.

We popped in on the off chance after taking our aged mother out for a ride. What a gem! A lovely, clean pub. Dog friendly (Sid was even given dog biscuits on a plate and given a bowl of water). We had a lovely meal. Fish and chips and scampi and chips both with mushy peas and a jacket potato for mum. The meals were freshly cooked and very hot. They have a lovely garden if the weather is good enough to sit outside. Very friendly staff. Their Covid precautions were excellent, with hand sanitizers everywhere.

We were on an easter break and popped into this pub for dinner and a few drinks on a Saturday evening, as we were staying a short walk from here. For a remote pub and the only pub in this village, it was absolutely shocking. Staff/owners were miserable as sin and were not very welcoming at all. The atmosphere was terrible and actually made you feel you were aliens visiting from another planet or something. Food was questionable to the point where unfortunately I was poorly that evening and the following day. It was such a shame that this pub was so bad, as usually in remote villages with nothing else around, they are usually the best ones to visit. Surfice to say we had a couple of drinks an...

I came to Milborne Port for a friends wedding in October and decided to rent an Airbnb for my parents and my daughter so we could spend a few days relaxing before and after the wedding. We booked Sunday dinner at the Tippling Philosopher in advance as noted from reviews it can get busy. We visited the pub when we arrived on the Friday evening and felt very welcome. Nice atmosphere with lots of locals. Good selection of beer and wine. We came back for a coffee Saturday morning and really liked the community feel during the day too. On Sunday we had the roast dinner which was delicious. Fresh veg and lots of it! Beautifully cooked meat. We then came back on the Sunday evening for the pub quiz....

"Our first visit to The George Inn at Donyatt, we've drove by it time's going to other places and it always looks such a nice place. We decided to have lunchtime meal there to celebrate our anniversary and weren't disappointed, beamed ceilings, log burner and brick fireplace, farm tools and pictures on the walls cosy and oldie worldy with friendly locals just how we like our pubs. The staff and owner were really friendly, polite and chatted to us as if we locals from the village, the waitresses were smartly dressed, polite attentive always smiling, cheerful, charming and chatty. Even the chef nodded and smiled to us the couple of times he walked through and the bar and table areas were spotlessly clean. Our meals starters and mains were absolutely fantastic and amazing as was the presentation, they were hot good amounts of food with tender succulent meats and vegetables and the mashed potatoes were creamy smooth and light and have never had better. There's a good selection of beers and I had local ale which was amazing, clear, cool with a nice head and tasted like nectar. We will definitely be coming back soon and we can definitely recommend this pub, restaurant and hotel to family, friends, neighbours and anyone. A very big well done and thank you to the owners, all the staff especially the chef, please please please keep this pub the way it is, it's an absolute treasure and gem of a place to find. YOU ALL MADE OUR ANNIVERSARY VERY SPECIAL Especially in these times when a majority of local village pubs are closing down and being turned into houses or flats, we must all support our local village pubs like The George Inn."
