"We visited here for our annual Christmas meal for our staff and volunteers. The food was absolutely mouthwatering. Beetroot infused smoked salmon, pate and soup were the starters. The salmon was delicious. For main was roast beef or turkey. I had the beef which was excellent. Pudding was creme brulee cheesecake, Christmas pudding or a cheeseboard. The cheesecake looked amazing , although I had the cheeseboard which was delicious with a good selection of cheese, biscuits, grapes, apple and chutney. The service was prompt and the staff polite. I would highly recommend this public house for a meal. Thank you so much Alastair and team, you did us proud and compliments to the chef and kitchen staff. Thank you for your hard work in preparing such amazing food."

Open fire, comfortable seating areas and real ales all served by very welcoming staff. Good home cooked locally sourced food from a varied menu and a specials board. Would recommend

Just had the most delicious Sunday lunch at the dolphin. Roast pork with crackling all excellent and enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine. They also have excellent Covid precautions.

Visited here on the eat out to help out scheme. Cleanliness was a top priority with masks even been worn to go to the loo. One way system. Service good and food typical pub grub but really Enjoyable. Would visit again.

Had lunch here to catch up with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. The food was home cooked and came out piping hot, my friend had lasagne which had been baked in a tray and I had gammon, both were really tasty. Would recommend if you just want good pub grub.

This pub is a hidden gem. You can just sit outside and unwind with the friendly locals. I always make a quick stop here when passing through town. If you're feeling hungry, grab a pie or pastry from Bonners across the road - they'll heat it up for you to enjoy at the pub. It's a fantastic experience.

A lovely family Sunday roast, something Ilminster has been missing for a while or we have missed it, never realised how good the food is. A lovely place to eat, reasonably priced and a very tasty meal. Plenty of food, hot and tasty, never waited long even with a bigger group. The sweets were very tasty and a good price, will certainly return for a lunch in the future..staff helpful keeping my food back due to a call out, but appreciated their staffs help in getting my meal when I rejoined the party.

We decided to stop at this restaurant for lunch on our way back from Devon. We ordered a couple of beers and the tuna baguette melt. Unfortunately, there was no melt. Instead, we received a soupy white mayonnaise on a baguette with a very subtle taste of tuna. It was honestly the most disappointing lunch I have ever had. Despite wanting to complain, we were pressed for time due to a long journey ahead and were too hungry to delay. However, the one positive note was that the chips were surprisingly excellent.

We visited the restaurant tonight as it was conveniently located near where we are staying. We had a wonderful, delicious meal. We started with the whitebait, which was served with fresh brown bread, butter, salad garnish, and tartare sauce. It was crispy and not greasy. For the main course, we both had the homemade burger, which was made with good quality ground beef, a brioche bun, fresh salad, and thick chunky chips. The staff were very attentive, the restroom was clean, and Covid guidelines were followed, including track and trace. Well done Dolphin Inn, you deserve success during these challenging times. We had a faultless experience. Elaine and Kevin.

"Our first visit to The George Inn at Donyatt, we've drove by it time's going to other places and it always looks such a nice place. We decided to have lunchtime meal there to celebrate our anniversary and weren't disappointed, beamed ceilings, log burner and brick fireplace, farm tools and pictures on the walls cosy and oldie worldy with friendly locals just how we like our pubs. The staff and owner were really friendly, polite and chatted to us as if we locals from the village, the waitresses were smartly dressed, polite attentive always smiling, cheerful, charming and chatty. Even the chef nodded and smiled to us the couple of times he walked through and the bar and table areas were spotlessly clean. Our meals starters and mains were absolutely fantastic and amazing as was the presentation, they were hot good amounts of food with tender succulent meats and vegetables and the mashed potatoes were creamy smooth and light and have never had better. There's a good selection of beers and I had local ale which was amazing, clear, cool with a nice head and tasted like nectar. We will definitely be coming back soon and we can definitely recommend this pub, restaurant and hotel to family, friends, neighbours and anyone. A very big well done and thank you to the owners, all the staff especially the chef, please please please keep this pub the way it is, it's an absolute treasure and gem of a place to find. YOU ALL MADE OUR ANNIVERSARY VERY SPECIAL Especially in these times when a majority of local village pubs are closing down and being turned into houses or flats, we must all support our local village pubs like The George Inn."
