"This restaurant is a hidden gem, and somewhat tardis-like (you’ll see what I mean when you go there). Ate there twice within a week; once for a planned birthday celebration, the other an impromptu exam-success celebration. Staff are always so attentive, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere pleasant (it’s always nice to be able to hear what the people on your own table are saying, rather than competing with the cacophony of noise from surrounding tables). Yes, it’s a smidge more expensive than the restaurant chain around the corner (we’re talking less than a couple of pounds per dish more), but, for us, the additional cost is more than justified by the overall experience and quality of the food. Absolutely no problem with tailoring the dishes to deal with allergies (in my case, a dairy allergy). Vegan and GF options available too."

"Highly recommend Matt's Kitchen. We have been fortunate to dine at some incredible restaurants, but this one stands out. The set menu is fantastic, the service is attentive, and the food is truly amazing. The restaurant itself is uniquely quirky in a good way. Bring your own bottle, get comfortable, and enjoy. We can't wait to return. Vegetarian options are available on the set menu, and as vegetarians/pescatarians, we were well taken care of. The service was excellent."

"Two friends and I were planning to visit the nearby Fleet Air Arm Museum but wanted to have breakfast first. One of my friends discovered the Cafe on Google, so we decided to meet there at 9am. We arrived just as they were opening and were greeted warmly. Our orders were promptly taken and our hot teas arrived soon after. All three of us ordered the breakfast which included fried bread and extra toast. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and attentive. We will definitely come back again the next time we are in Yeovil."

"We went here for the first time today and I'm blown away. I really fancied the steak even though--until today--I'd never had a good steak in a pub and I even told them as such. Well the sirloin I had today was cooked well (to medium) and a nice cut of meat too. The onion rings that came with it were probably the best onion rings I've had out; they had a nice sweetness and easy to bite through without taking the entire ring out of the batter. The chips were crispy on the outside, golden, and fluffy on the inside. Perfection. And the crowning glory of my meal was actually the creamy pepper sauce. It was a generous portion that lasted my entire meal, including for the chips and onion rings. The taste and creaminess was spot on. It's by far the best peppercorn sauce I've had at a restaurant and reminded me of my grandmother's peppercorn sauce. In fact the sauce was so spot on if I didn't know she was no longer with us I would have had to check in the back of the kitchen to make sure she didn't make it herself. My wife was worried she'd have food envy of my steak when she ordered the lasagne. However, she was delightfully happy with her choice. And she loved the tolberone cheesecake for desert. Oh and the homemade garlic bread to start was really nice. Way better than garlic bread most places and very clearly homemade. I'd recommend this place to anyone and we will definitely be back. I want to try a burger next time, but I'm worried I'll regret it not having the creamy pepper sauce again. "We had made a reservation for 17:30 and received a confirmation email for the booking. We were looking quite forward to enjoying a meal there as we had heard that the restaurant had great food and service. Unfortunately the booking system had made a mistake and put our booking in for 11:00 instead of 17:30. The manager with glasses a short hair, refused to give us her name was extremely rude when handling this issue. We showed her our confirmation email and she completely disregarded it. The least she could have done is apologies for the mistake the system had made. She spoke to us as we were idiots. It is unacceptable to treat a customer this way. The place look really nice unfortunately with a manager like that, it reflects on the owners of the establishment. I will not be recommending this restaurant and will encourage friends not to go there. Rather go to Ask Italian where we had no booking but they happily accommodated us and their food and service is great."

"Wonderful, helpful staff excellent service from booking until we left after celebrating a 40th birthday. Luke was so helpful when I rang to book easy to talk to. On arrival today all the staff were kind, caring, considerate and were incredibly helpful. The carvery was tasty with an excellent choice of vegetables fab Yorkshire puddings. The 4 children in our group aged 2-10, all enjoyed their carvery and the ice- cream dessert that came with a chocolate flake marshmallows. Thank you to all the staff at ‘front of house’ ‘behind the scenes’ for making today a very special 40th family celebration! We will definitely be returning, not just as a family, but as a couple because we were so impressed with the overall service quality of food."

"we went here a few days ago, our waiter giuseppe was excellent with us and other customers round, he made the experience unforgettable for all! political, funny and attentive to our needs. eating was amazing, fresh, delicate and full of taste! we sat outside and it was warm, not too hot, no bugs, pleasant, not even noticed street noise! everything was perfect and it was busy inc a huge hen do inside. all in all, I would have to give this restaurant a 10/10 and will definitely return. we spent around £350 for 7 people, meals, puddings and a whole lot of drinks/cocktails/coffees, so I would say good value! thank you."

"I have been coming to this restaurant for many years, but my recent impromptu visit was a disappointment. We were seated quickly, but then chaos ensued as other couples were seated and orders were taken before ours. After waiting for at least 50 minutes, our side orders arrived and promptly disappeared when they realized our mains had not been cooked. We waited another 20 minutes before our food finally arrived. The lamb chop I ordered was disappointing for the price of £28 with no sides. My mother's pork tenderloin was overcooked and not tender. Despite the long wait and subpar food, there was no apology or acknowledgement of the situation. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this restaurant."

"Roger/Anthea/Colin and Angie visited Five Dials on Friday 29th September afternoon and popped in for a drink. The welcome we received from Sarah and crew and several of local customers was outstanding, so much so that we booked in for an evening meal. We turned up by taxi and again the welcome was fabulous. Our table was at the rear of the delightful restaurant. Our young lady called Carly soon sorted us some drinks. This service was continued by Sarah and Carly throughout the evening with a great food menu. We would like to give Five Dials a Five star review. Hope we can get there again. Well done and thank you. Cheers from all four of us . May try and stay there next time."

"I feel as though the positive reviews on service must be false… such a shame to have to avoid the only pub in the village for fear of being verbally accosted from the moment you walk in. The landlady is just incomprehensibly rude, dismissive and just plain unpleasant… to everyone?! It’s like an airport, when it’s your only choice, you sometimes have to go there. Although I do AVOID this place at all costs. You are fairly safe if you just get a drink and find yourself a corner, but even then… and god forbid you ask a simple question, want to order food, want to book a table, turn up for your reservation (on time! , want some sugar for your coffee… READ THE REVIEWS, it’s all true… if you want an insane experience (a real life Karen’s Diner…? then feel free to try it out. If you want a nice evening out, afternoon drink… avoid!"

"I had an incredible dining experience at Lamb Lion in Langport! The food was outstanding we savored ham, eggs, and chips, sausages and mash, and a delicious tuna melt. The setting was simply amazing; the weather was perfect, and the views from the beer garden were breathtaking, overlooking the stunning levels. The staff were brilliant too. Highly recommend this place! Price per person: £30–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"
"Unfortunately not a great choice of beers. To eat, we ordered pork souvlaki and lamb chop as main courses 14 each). The pork was supposed to be marinated but came out pretty dry and tasteless. Not a big portion either (2 small-ish skewers). The tzatziki...was watery and hardly tasted of garlic. The salad was mainly limp iceberg lettuce with a watery yogurt dressing on pretty tasteless as well. The chips were good and the pitta was warm. But overall very bland and basic for the prices. The lamb chop was purely fatty and grizzly, there was hardly any proper meat on it. It had a very strong taste and seemed a very cheap cut. Vegetables served with the lamb were OK but again pretty cheap-tasting. Chopped-up, oily aubergine is a bit of an odd choice for a veg side dish, though. Service wasn't brilliant, either, we had to remind them twice to bring the tap water we had asked for with our other drinks. Nobody came and asked if we wanted any sauces (ketchup) or how or meal was, not even at the end when we paid. For those prices, I would have expected a relatively decent meal (not just made up of cheap ingredients) and half-way decent table service. The descriptions of the dishes on the specials board sound great and sophisticated, but unfortunately they don't live up to the hype. I only saw after our visit (on their Facebook page) that they are looking for a new chef. I wish I had known that before. I wouldn't go again, unfortunately. Ah yes, the table surface was sticky, too. No Covid measures in place whatsoever."

"Having enjoyed a very nice meal here recently under the eat out to help out scheme, I had no hesitation in booking again for a special family celebration. What a mistake. The Saturday night dinner menu, only available on arrival, had been further curtailed and offered 2 only types of steak (or a choice of 3 specials) for main meals! Worse still was the fact that the prices had gone up by £5.00 for EXACTLY the same dish. Unfortunately this time the experience was much less impressive, making the price hike even more offensive. My drink arrived in a dirty glass (replaced) and the crispy duck pancakes starter was dry rather than crispy. The steaks were so heavily seasoned I couldn't face finishing mine and only brought it home from the restaurant as I didn't wanted to waste it, especially when I was charged £28 for it. I appreciate this may not seem particularly dear to some but for what we were served it was woefully over priced. I have been served much better steak for much less expense. The accompaniments were poorly cooked:the chips were not all cooked through; the tender stem broccoli was anything but and like the steak, it was choked in salt. The red wine list offered one much more expensive bottle, which was chosen for our celebration on its tasting notes even this was a let down and at double the price of almost every other bottle on the menu, this is NOT good enough. To say that I was disappointed is a huge understatement. When the bill came I felt so embarrassed, having recommended it so warmly to my family for our celebrations. £200 for what had been such a mediocre meal and drinks for 4. Oh how I wish we had gone somewhere else.."
"Modernised traditional Somerset pub in attractive village. Open and light bar area with wide choice of gin and a varied and well chosen wine list including by the glass. Odd there is no draught cider. Excellent service and superb food. Really liked the smoked fish roe sharer starter with sour dough crackers. Rooms at the back were warm and snug with neutral decor. Good bed. Powerful shower and local shower wash. Coffee pod machine and tea/ coffee available ."

"Amazing hosts! Came over from NZ with my fiancés family, and they’d booked us in mentioning I was coming from New Zealand and he went out of his way to get a traditional Nz flag so he could fly it for me specifically. Absolute gentleman, and passionate about people you can’t help but smile, and want to return. The hospitality industry is missing more people like the business owners here. Food was also amazing! "I am not from the local area and decided to try this restaurant for delivery. I won't go into detail about the delivery experience as it was not good. The food, on the other hand, was incredible. I ordered a chef's special and it was outstanding. The lamb, cooked off the bone, was delicious, especially with the sauce, onion, and peppers. It was one of the best dishes I've ever had, and I've tried a lot. The portions were also very generous. As for the service, it was for delivery."

"I have been looking for somewhere like this for ages! I often visit friends in Devon from my home in Hertfordshire and wanted a nice spot for a lunch stop around the halfway mark. This fits the bill perfectly. Location wise it’s just 2 minutes from the A303 halfway into the journey. The pub has real character, the staff were friendly and there was a good vibe in the place. I had the Sunday Roast and it was excellent, perfectly cooked, tasty and generous. Parking: Private car park"

"Myself and my partner were staying in the area this weekend and thoroughly W joyed our meal. We were recommended this place by some locals and thought we would give it a try. Being people who very much enjoy a curry we were not sure what to expect from a small place out in rural Somerset and we were so surprised! We loved every mouthful and the prices were reasonable. Will definitely be going back when next in the area."
