"We have eaten here on a few occasions recently and found the food to be good. We came for Sunday lunch today and were very disappointed with the general experience. We sat down at 1.30 to be told there was no roast beef (surely you would hold some back for your bookings? . We ordered a pork and a chicken. We had starters first which were ok, the garlic mushrooms were lukewarm. The mains turned up with very very small portions of meat and 3 dried up roast potatoes each that had been hanging around for a while, the vegetables were also lukewarm. I asked the waitress for some more pork only to be told they had run out (one of my slices of pork had even been cut in half was this so that some other poor diner could have his portion? . So I spoke to the landlord Jerry, who found some more pork (where had it been hiding! . To be honest we got the impression that they had run out of food and our meals were cobbled together with the last scraps. The whole experience was a let down; when I paid the bill and voiced my concerns to the barman he was not the slightest bit interested. What a shame; we are locals and eat out often. We won't be back."

This was a strange experience! The pub was busy and people clearly love the food. The place is friendly and the staff are relatively attentive. I am not going to give a poor star rating, business is tough and we all must support our local...

What can I say. The Lamb and Lion were incredible! They went above and beyond for us. We had a small wedding so just wanted a quiet meal after. We booked the skittle alley and the team kindly decorated it for us. The service was wonderful and everyone loved the food. Thank you for helping to make our day perfect.

We tried to visit this pub on a Monday night in November but it was closed, the website needs updating. We tried again on a Thursday evening and got in. All the crew are friendly and helpful. The inside looks recently decorated and is smart and functional. The menu is not large but has enough choice. I went for cod n chips. Service was a bit slow but our meals arrived pipping hot and comprised a plate full of food. The fish was uninspiring but the chips and peas were super. A nice pub serving reasonably priced food with friendly service. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

"Our first visit to The George Inn at Donyatt, we've drove by it time's going to other places and it always looks such a nice place. We decided to have lunchtime meal there to celebrate our anniversary and weren't disappointed, beamed ceilings, log burner and brick fireplace, farm tools and pictures on the walls cosy and oldie worldy with friendly locals just how we like our pubs. The staff and owner were really friendly, polite and chatted to us as if we locals from the village, the waitresses were smartly dressed, polite attentive always smiling, cheerful, charming and chatty. Even the chef nodded and smiled to us the couple of times he walked through and the bar and table areas were spotlessly clean. Our meals starters and mains were absolutely fantastic and amazing as was the presentation, they were hot good amounts of food with tender succulent meats and vegetables and the mashed potatoes were creamy smooth and light and have never had better. There's a good selection of beers and I had local ale which was amazing, clear, cool with a nice head and tasted like nectar. We will definitely be coming back soon and we can definitely recommend this pub, restaurant and hotel to family, friends, neighbours and anyone. A very big well done and thank you to the owners, all the staff especially the chef, please please please keep this pub the way it is, it's an absolute treasure and gem of a place to find. YOU ALL MADE OUR ANNIVERSARY VERY SPECIAL Especially in these times when a majority of local village pubs are closing down and being turned into houses or flats, we must all support our local village pubs like The George Inn."
