"Perfect! We didn't do much research on local restaurants, and we stumbled upon this place while heading to our accommodation. We were incredibly pleased to secure a table and I highly recommend making a reservation if you don’t want to miss out! The food was delightful—well-sourced, expertly prepared, and beautifully presented. I started with cullen skink, followed by venison for my main course and cheese for dessert, while my friend enjoyed black pudding, lamb, and rhubarb sorbet. Everything was absolutely delicious! I also noticed some vegan and vegetarian options, so if you’re not a meat-eater, don’t overlook those. Not only was the food incredible, but the couple running the restaurant were so friendly and courteous, and the service was impeccable."

This was my best meal in Scotland! The large dishes were expertly cooked, and the service was incredibly friendly. Plus, it’s BYOB with no corkage fee. I enjoyed a second main course because it was just that good!

We managed to book the last available table at 8.30pm. A delightful place to eat with delicious food well presented and cheerfully served. They gave no licence, so bring yourbown alcohol if you like. Make sure you book ahead. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Exceptional dining experience! I started with a delightful haddock soup, followed by a risotto with asparagus and mushrooms, while my companion enjoyed lamb meatballs served with potato purée, mushrooms, crunchy peas, and salsify. This restaurant is fantastic! The staff is very friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy. The food was excellent, from the soup of the day to the main course and the homemade ice cream. I highly recommend it! Just make sure to make a reservation. The venison loin and rhubarb ice cream are a must-try. Also, don't bother checking the website for more information.

This place is a hidden gem! As one reviewer mentioned, this place serves quality over quantity. The menu is small, accommodates vegan friends and the food is simply delicious! They do not serve alcohol but they do make a home made lemonade with Mint or Ginger. My girlfriend had the langoustine dish and I chose the salmon with linguine. I have to say first... I'm not particularly a lover of pasta but the chef at The Whale Tale made it so delicious that I had to finish the lot. (I was also contemplating on asking them to make me the linguine on its own with the sauce for me to take away! I couldn't take photos of our food as I was a little hungry...
