"I live in the village when I heard Dave was back cooking we had to try , delicious. The garlic mushrooms is Devine but the bread let it down soggy could do with more cooking time but I did tell the woman who brought out the meal ie bar staff but she was not interested.i had the pan fried chicken which was very nice plenty of salad which I like .hubby had steak which he said was very well cooked. It’s a nice local but it’s not got a separate dining area you eat with the locals in the lounge . Other then that nice pub and food ... you get what you pay for I’ll be going back that’s for sure"

A lovely meal with friends. We were very well looked after and very grateful that they could accommodate quite a large group at short notice.

I visited this restaurant last night and enjoyed a delicious pint. The bar staff were friendly and attentive, and the beer was excellent. Although tempted by the impressive gin selection, I decided to resist. View menu

In the past year, my family and I have enjoyed several meals at The White Swan. Each time, we leave feeling satisfied and pleased with the delicious food that is always well-cooked. Even though we may not dine out every week, The White Swan has become our favorite restaurant.

The food here used to be great and very reasonably priced. Have not been for a few years due to covid, what a change we found. Prices gone up hugely and food nowhere near the quality it used to be. Our plates were half empty when presented to us, surely they could have put a few more chips on or a shovel of peas to make it look better.

We often have our lunch here and since Dave has been back in the kitchen the food does not disappoint there is a good selection on the lunch menu and more on the evening menu. As all the food is cooked to order there is a small waiting time but you can sample the guests beers while you are waiting. It is advisable to book as the lounge is often busy. View menu

Popped in under a recommendation. Traditional pub. Independent. Friendly atmosphere. Clean. Great Covid practice in place.. including track and trace details. Lady serving.. chatty, friendly and knew how to pour a decent pint! Reasonable prices.. good selection of drinks and many gins!!! Didn't eat here.. but have been told the food is excellent. We'll worth a visit.

My family and I visited this restaurant for our Saturday night dinner. We ordered a variety of dishes including rump steak, all the trimmings, bangers and mash, burger, and Hunters chicken. Everything was cooked perfectly, especially the steak which was sourced from a local butcher only 100 meters away from the pub. John, the owner, also has an impressive selection in his cellar, so I highly recommend visiting for a meal and a drink. #SupportLocalBusinesses

"The Stag Inn is a delightful looking pub overlooking the small green in the village of Barkston near Grantham. Internally the pub is clean and tidy with a range of two and four seater tables with New England shades of light blue on the painted table legs in the restaurant area. We didn’t venture into the pub side so can’t vouch for the decor in there. We arrived unannounced just after opening time of 12 and were offered a table with no difficulty. There was a menu of the usual offerings of fish and chips and a range of burgers together with roast salmon, chargrilled pork chop, a leek and cauliflower cheese pot pie, ham egg and chips and a vegetable lasagne amongst others. A specials chalkboard hung on the far wall and the crab and prawn salad with Mediterranean bread sounded so good we both opted for it. That was a mistake as we were to find out. The meals were reasonably quick to arrive and were served up in two large bowls with a dusting of paprika round the edges. What hit me immediately was the large flaccid green lettuce leaf draped over the edge of the bowl, together with a whole half-a-lemon that we each had. A small wedge would be perfect. The bread tasted sweet and was as far from the Mediterranean as it could possibly be apart from the occasional input of sundried tomato. What irked me most though was that the bread was delivered up pre-buttered with what looked like some bright yellow catering spread. A small ramakin of real butter between the two of us would work so much better. When asked if everything was okay I mentioned this and was told that chef would be informed. Having said all that the crab and prawn salad was full of flavour and sat on a nice mixed salad of red peppers, lettuce, red onion and cornichons. A word of advice to the wise….. don’t sit at the table near the restaurant counter as this is where the pub’s phone is located. On at least two occasions the phone was left to ring unanswered by the staff, presumably as they were busy elsewhere (the pub was by no means full) and was right behind my head! The volume of the ringer was high and it would have been a more pleasant experience for us if, firstly, it was answered and, secondly, the volume was turned down. On the plus side the staff were polite and helpful but the food not so great."
