I always recommend this pub and would also suggest booking as it can get busy Food is of good quality recommend beef on a Sunday, creme brulee for dessert and white bait or chilli prawns or garlic mushrooms. Fantastic pub! I really hope it receives plenty of support during its comeback. The village is quite peaceful as well.

I recently visited the restaurant with various friends and enjoyed the steak, curry, and fish and chips. The food was excellent, with generous portions that were beautifully presented. The staff took great care of us, and there was a good selection of draft drinks and guest beers. The team was friendly and engaging, making it a fantastic local spot to have. Highly recommend!

"Chesters is pretty local to us being only a couple of miles away and so we thought we would give it a go as I didn 't fancy any of our usual haunts. It 's a pub with letting rooms and a bar food offering with a separate restaurant and is very tastefully decorated in the restaurant area. It was a bit noisy in the main bar area as it 's a popular place for all ages and football was showing so we took a two seat table in the side dining area close to the conservatory and we had the place to ourselves for quite a while. Having already checked out their menu online I had decided to try out their 'home made ' cottage pie which came with carrots and peas and it is hard to fault it but being the ultra critical diner that I am here are my thoughts on the meal. Oh and by the way if you like a real ale go for the Doombar, it 's a cracking pint but a wee bit pricey at £3.60, I guess it would have been cheaper in the bar. It wasn 't overly busy in the pub or restaurant but our food took around 25 minutes to arrive, just a wee bit longer than I was comfortable with and it arrived on cold plates. The cottage pie itself was piping hot in an oval ceramic container and was indeed home made but the veggies whilst hot initially soon cooled down very quickly. Now a couple of things were not quite right here, the cottage pie had a cheesy top (which I personally don 't mind) but we were not given the option of with or without cheese. The aforementioned cheesy top was very tasty but was also very 'gloopy ' it could have done with either a few seconds under a grill or a quick blast with a catering blow torch to (a) give it some colour and (b) to crist it up a wee bit. Minor points I know but relevant none the less. We were offered extra gravy half way through our meal (there was very little gravy in the cottage pie) which we declined but in retrospect should have accepted as it would have helped keep the veggies warm, lol. The young man that served us attentive and knowledgeable and the owners were too and apologised for the time it took to get the food and the cold plates when it was pointed out to them. Would I go back? Yes and fully intend to so that we can try some other dishes on the menu. Did the cons out weigh the pros? No, this is one you need to try if you haven 't been before. There is free parking outside the pub and a good sized car part round the back. It has a nice atmosphere and is well decorated with plenty of room between the tables."
