"Stopped in this local pub as it looked nice and had been past a few times. The server on the bar was new to the job it seemed, we all have to start somewhere, she made our drinks and gave us menus. We noticed the bar was a bit “sticky” however we sat and read the lunch menu, we then noticed the table was also “sticky” we put it down to the heat reacting with the varnish! I never understand why pubs varnish tables it’s rubbish! Better off covering with a cheap cloth or bare wood treated with oil. Longer lasting and easily restored!! Anyway we overlooked the sticky furniture and ordered lunch. I opted for loaded nachos (chilli beef) my wife had loaded chips (only cheese) reasonably priced. The server came back after a little while and offered us a £3 refund as the loaded chips are already loaded with cheese and she said they had been charged incorrectly. We said thank you and please keep it as a tip. Perhaps it was her first gratuity or biggest? She was overjoyed. Our food arrived and it was delicious, tbh I wasn’t expecting much from the look of the menu and surroundings, both of which needed a little more TLC. The food tasted amazing, the chef is obviously the draw here as the place was getting busy with hungry walkers by the time we left. I would go back but find a less sticky table!!"

It was ok. Beer garden was as is and the price of drinks, without very much choice, was expensive No rush to come back here.

We were disappointed that we couldn't get a light lunch as the restaurant only serves carvery on Sundays. Overall, the service and atmosphere were rated 3 out of 5.

I inquired about getting food and was informed that they serve until 8 pm. However, when I went to place my order 5 minutes later, I was told that they were no longer serving food for the day. The staff was very rude, but they were quick to take someone else's order after turning me away. Overall, the restaurant was a joke and a waste of time. Food quality, service, and atmosphere all received a rating of 1.

Came for a drink and the very popular Sunday Carvery. First impressions was how clean the establishment was! Staff very welcoming and accommodating. The Carvery was phenomenal, fresh, tasty, and cooked to perfection. Had Aperol Spritz from the summer treats board, which was a little jug of heaven, Aperol,Prosecco and Soda, perfect for a sunny afternoon. This pub is a gem! If you in St Ives or surrounding areas, highly recommend you visit.

"Re opened, refurbished and back with a bang! A classic thatched country pub which has been lovingly and sympathetically restored to more than its former glory, with new owners and new management. It now features a wonderful and sizeable pub garden with stunning views over the Cambridgeshire countryside with the quaint addition of Highland Cows who seem to enjoy watching the customers! Having been for drinks and food now on a couple of occasions, the menu is sophisticated, tasty with plenty of variety. If you're enjoying a drink in the garden, for nibbles, I highly recommend the cheese fritters they compliment a cool glass of Prosecco perfectly. There is an extensive wine list and a selection of cocktails on offer. Inside the pub, it's all olde world charm but with a modern twist and as much I love the warm weather, I almost can't wait to see a roaring fire in the two fireplaces! The staff are friendly and welcoming it's the sort of pub I'd be happy to go into on my own for a light lunch or just a drink. I can't wait to try their Sunday lunch which I've heard good things about already from those who have been! Considering it's a whole new team of people, the service understandably was a little bit slow as they were learning the ropes. However, on my last visit, I was impressed by how much slicker it was they're obviously fast learners. Can't wait to go back and support this quality pub/restaurant."
