This is probably one of the places to come to if you are after Grünkohl . Whilst I didn't eat it, my friends did and declared it fabulous. I had fish with vegetables and found it a bit salty.

I met there with old friends many of whom I hadn't seen for 50 years. It was the perfect venue (the weather helped, too). Good food and wine, excellent service. Steak was done perfectly, and a good selection of both white (for the starter) and red (for the meat dish) wine. Good rösti, as well!

Good choice of food, good place, good ambient. Standard prices for Hanover during an exhibition. I choose the sandwich with pulled pork but it was full of a strange spicy sauce I didn't like at all. Anyhow my colleagues said that their food was good. There wasn't any typical like shank or wurst. I will come back for sure, asking for something else...

Though not in the center of Hannover the Vier Jahresgarten is worth a visit (by underground about 10 minutes from Kröpcke). They run a nice beergarden and serve great food: rips, pulled pork burger, sausages, huge salads and much more. The restaurant features a less rustikal menu with modern German food. Pricing is absolutely reasonable. On weekends better make a reservation.

The Vier Jahreszeiten is an old favourite of ours & as we had friends coming to visit, we knew we could treat them to a good meal here. Excellent food, drinks & service in a very pleasant atmosphere. The steak is delicious! The only thing that I cannot understand is why the frozen pommes frites? But it is my experience almost all German restaurants appear only to serve frozen potato products - Why? Some nice pommes frites made from a fresh potato would have made the meal 100% perfect!

We were in Hanover for a week on business and after discovering this place on our first night we came back twice more... So that in itself has to be a recommendation! This is not 5 star food in a posh setting. It is an old world bar & restaurant that does good, hearty German food in a lovely rustic setting. The staff were all lovely (bar one grumpy slightly older lady). They were cheerful and chatty and took good care of us. On our last night they had even ordered in our favourite wine especially for us ( as we finished it off on an earlier visit). We hadn't asked them to do this - but as we walked in the door on our last night, they excitement old us they had managed to get 3 more bottles f...
