"Oh dear oh dear oh dear, I was taking some friends from Canada all around Snowdonia to see the sights and experience Welsh hospitality. Being welsh myself I am incredibly proud of my country. Sadly the cafe at the top of the horseshoe pass was closed, where I explained that I always get friendly service with plain wholesome food. It was 19.30 and sadly not many places were open on our journey back from the very North of Wales. I had passed here many times and couldn 't believe our luck that it was open.....that is where our excitement ended. I was in pain from the walking and driving to and fro, and so my friend went in to enquire if they were still serving food. we shut at 8 came the reply. So they quickly beckoned me in and order we did. To say that the middle aged female serving would turn milk sour was an understatement. We ordered plaice and chips....there were three of us. we only have 2 fish came the surly reply. Ok we will have the steak and ale pie and the 2 fish please we said. No acknowledgement, no please or thank you, so extra loudly I said Diolch yn fawr cariad hoping that she would at least give a smile if she was a fellow welsh person. Nope, not a crack. I immediately thought of a female Basil Fawlty. are you sitting here or in the restaurant part she enquired in a I wish you would go away kind of tone. So taking the initiative we moved into the restaurant area, where another group of Americans attempted their ordering.....poor things we thought. Out came the fish and chips (clearly frozen beforehand, but fair play they were cooked well and frankly cardboard would have tasted good, as we were very very hungry). The Pie....well, it was obviously again taken from the freezer. Which to be honest I get that, you cannot rely on custom so fresh would be impossible to achieve. BUT, that does not give the excuse for being miserable and downright rude. My visitors had not experienced this for the whole of our trip and have been greeted by my fellow welshmen with interest and friendly chat. I would avoid this place like the plague, I certainly will not be bringing foreign visitors again and suggest that maybe the staff attend some training on customer relations. It costs nothing to smile and be polite for me manners maketh man . No wonder the place looks run down, if you treat customers like this then word will get around. Give up now, put it up for sale and sell it to someone who is interested in making some money as I am fairly sure people would flock around if you were a little cleaner and friendlier."

"We went for tea after the cinema, as our little one fancied pizza. My little one and I are vegan, therefore we ordered a vegan margarita on thin base and a veggie vegan pizza on stuffed crust. It took over 40 minutes to arrive and...wasn’t busy! When it arrived, omg my order was wrong, they had just put cheese on mine. The manager went away to ask, my daughters pizza was that burnt you could see the black base coming through the cheese and it snapped when bent! The manager came back and said it’s what I had ordered, I explained it wasn’t the young lad had read the order back to me, it definitely said veggie. I shown him my daughters pizza and asked if that was acceptable, all he said was would you like some fresh ones? I said no thank you, we are leaving, we have waited long enough! Would not recommend Pizza Hut in Rhyl, very poor!"

"We often visit the upstairs coffee area and our recent experience on July 3, 2023 was extremely disappointing. Despite arriving at 12:10 pm with many unoccupied tables, every table was filled with dirty dishes, trays, and tissues. The servers' attitudes were also lacking. We were told our drinks would take 10 to 15 minutes, and when they finally arrived, there were no spoons for the coffees. My wife had to clear and wipe a table herself to sit down, and when she asked for a spoon, she was told none were available. She managed to find a small wooden stirrer instead. The table we sat at overlooked an empty cake display and a dishwashing machine, as well as an overflowing rubbish bin with food remnants and tissues spilling onto the floor. Only two staff members were on duty for the first 20 minutes until another finally arrived to assist. In my opinion, the café should have been closed for at least an hour for a thorough clean-up, or for the rest of the day. We will be avoiding this café until all issues, including staff shortages, are addressed. It is clear that the current staff are overwhelmed and unable to properly maintain hygiene standards."

"Stopped by a couple of weeks ago with my nephew's dog. The people that run it couldn't have been more obliging, even getting fresh water for my dog! It's the second time I've been and everything is freshly made and often home grown. Soooo tasty! It has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and the portions are huge aswell as the food being tasty. This will now be a regular eating place for me when I feel like treating myself . Meal type: Lunch"

"Come here quite often for a Chicken or Doner Kebab. Prices are Ok however food is very tasty. What makes this kebab so tasty is the salad that use they use which compliments the food. The chargrilled peppers are a nice touch and the Garlic sauce which I normally choose combines the lot perfectly. Close to a 5 but for the price which has just gone up!!"

"My regular eating place, around 3 times a week.. You can get a lovely Sausage or Bscon sandwich, with a free cup of coffee or tea- starting from only £2.20. There are also a variety of daily fresh cream cakes, bread, etc. Pasties and pies are also very popular here, including the only place in Prestatyn to still serve the traditional GIANT Oggie! The bakery, is situated in a good location on the High Street, with a fantastic Antique and Collectables shop right next door. The premises are always spotlessly clean, with staff Leanne, Michelle, Sue, Chris always looking after you. This bakery is a fabulous Credit to Prestatyn, with other outlets in Rhyl, and Talacre.. where all the mouth watering goodies are freshly baked. All in all, this bakery is really a MUST to visit- If you are in town, and feeling like a refreshment- or to purchase something nice to take home and eat. Long may this bakery stay in Prestatyn, for I at least.. Would be lost without it!"

"Cute little place to kill an hour or two. Husband and myself had a sundae each and 2 year old shared. £3.50 and they were huge and you got to choose exactly what you wanted in them. The lady working in the cutest cafe in the world heard my daughter saying she wanted her own so came out with a teeny tiny creation for herself all on her own accord. Gent there took us into the chicken coop to have a look at the hens on the eggs aswell. Horses and llama really friendly and grounds really well kept. Will visit again."

"I 've visited Abul 's Spice regularly over the last few years. Always had an excellent Biryani, enjoyed talking with the friendly owner, commiserated about the difficulties during the pandemic. Sad to see it close. Then, pleased to see it had reopened until I experienced the new owner 's attitude and food. I phoned in with a takeaway order for myself and a friend and was told what my friend wanted was on the old menu. Changed order. Arrived to collect the order only to be told they no longer accept credit/debit cards (why couldn 't they have told me on the phone? . Eventually manged to find a method of payment. Took the takeaway away, eager tpo eat what I expected to be good. However, vegetable biryani had few vegetables in it. Sauce was basically tomato puree. Went back to complain. Greeted by a very hostile attitude and a denial that I had any grounds to complain. Asked to speak with the owner and was told he would be there on Saturday and Sunday. Phoned on Sunday only to be told that the owner was the person I had previously spoken with when I went back to complain. It 's not the same business! Be warned! The 'Best curry house ' stuff refers to a previous owner. I know what a good biryani comprises and tastes like. There 's is not that. I won 't be returning."

"Saturday morning visit and the place was spotlessly clean, hand sanitizer at the door, the friendly man working there brought a clipboard to take name and contact for track and trace. Food was reasonably priced and was cooked perfect. The gentleman that served was also very friendly and polite plenty of seating to outside also. We would certainly visit again."

"Ordered x3 sandwiches and x3 paninis. Salad on plates was past its date. Panini was dry. Not the best lunch I’ve tasted, not worth the money we paid for everything! Staff were not welcoming and rude. My 9 year old asked to go toilet in which he was told he cannot use them( but didn’t tell him where he could go). I then asked where other toilet were and was told over the Road. Got over there and they were paying toilets which I was not told by cafe! Never had any money on me to pay and had a desperate child so had to go in bush! Also because no toilets so also no baby changing! Will not go back again!"

"I visited as one of a party of over 30, for voting our Christmas office lunch. They had plenty of advance notice of s vegan (me) attending, and did pretty well, generally. Starter was mushrooms in Dundee sorry of sauce, main course a lovely nut roast and all the veggies. The odd but was they said in advance that, if I took my own vegan Christmas pudding, they would heat it up for me. So I did and they nuked it! Bizarre to think that a place of this standing court source a vegan Christmas pudding I popped down Asda! I gifted the rest of it to their other customers. :o)Very friendly and efficient staff, very nice surroundings."

"Amazing chippy! Visited today with my family, 16 of us with an average age of 31, that’s 496 years of chip shop eating experience right there! We have travelled far and wide and never found a better chip or piece of battered fish. Let me just reiterate that there were 16 of us, that’s 159 fingers (it would have been 160 if it hadn’t had been for that unfortunate fishing accident with Uncle Bryn . The staff were fabulous, I didn’t catch the name of the lady who served me (let’s say it was Sandra , she couldn’t have been more helpful and supportive in what could have been a very traumatic situation. The fish was battered to within an inch of its life (actually the best crispy batter and fresh fish we have ever had! , the chips were perfect. All freshly cooked and full of flavour. We highly recommend and will definitely be back (for breakfast, if Sandra let’s us!!"

"We did our usual trick of working our way through a list of dog friendly cafes in the area for breakfast, this time caravanning near Corwen; and of course the best of the bunch was the one on the last day of our stay! Had we found this on day one, or just gone through the list backwards, we would not have needed another cafe to try. I confess to a moment of doubt when we arrived at the Country Cooks' cafe, its spick and span appearance and lay out reminded me of the good old Little Chef's of my youth, convenient but nothing to write home about. Well, I'm not writing home but am writing about the Cafe; a warm friendly welcome and free breakfast, but only for the dog, we had to pay for ours! I had no qualms about paying for it either, a traditional fried breakfast and lots of it, thick cut large rashers of bacon, no corner cutting on the choice of sausage and don't tell the wife, or doctor, but the fried bread was beautiful and unless I was trying to convince myself it wasn't overly greasy, oil laden. A fantastic end to a break away that was troubled by struggling to find a breakfast we'd want to return to that was within striking distance of the caravan parc. We found what we were looking for, but too late to take advantage of it's retainability status."

"This is a great cafe unfortunately away from the main shopping area in the town. If it was nearer the main shopping area I imagine it would be packed all day. Joe and his wife are extremely friendly and make great home cooked food. I had home made steak pie with mash and peas and it was a Desperate Dan style experience. I say home cooked but it 's rare these days that you get food this well made in your average home. Do yourselves a favour and walk 5 mins up the road from the beach and have a good dinner or all day breakfast."

"Played on Sunday so booked a table for 4 for Sunday Lunch. 1,2 or 3 courses available at great prices for quality of food. We had the home made Broccoli and Stilton soup and Orawn starters and Beef and Turkey mains. The biggest Yorkshire puddings...heaps of meat and fresh cooked roasters and veg. Great service and bar staff. If you have not tried this place for a meal get a table booked soon. Personal service with a smile. Pity the members don’t support the catering team as much as they should. Don’t worry if your not a member all welcome. Steve and Denise."

"This restaurant is warm, welcoming, and dog-friendly. It is a hidden gem with delicious home-cooked food at great value. We were blown away by the quality of the dishes during both of our visits. The menu offers plenty of choices, all cooked to perfection. The specialty pies were delicious, and the chunky chips were fantastic. The prices were very reasonable, coming in at less than £12.50 per person for two courses and drinks. This restaurant is outstanding value and definitely deserves 5 stars."

"I was in here on Thursday 25th and whilst in the queue waiting to be served (for at least 15 minutes) the lady on the till asked for help from the people in the back and another young lady came out to help. However the ladies cooking (whom I later got the names of Val and Caz apparently) were extremely rude and were shouting rather loudly at the ladies on the till saying they didn't need 2 people. By this time I had been waiting almost 25 minutes in the queue so it was obvious that they did need 2 people on the tills. The ladies on the till were extremely friendly and I can't fault them, they were working as fast as possible and as fast as the machines seemed to allow they were positive and friendly despite the awful tirade coming from the 2 cooks. There was also a lady serving meals (her name was Moira as I could see from the badge) and upon returning back to the kitchens she was slamming the table numbers down on the section where they seemed to be put, at one point almost taking a gentlemens head off. This awful attitude by these 3 ladies will now make me think twice before returning here, something I will also communicate to friends and family. There is obviously a serious need to train these women on customer service skills as this was atrocious and rude not something I expect from Sainsburys!"
