"My family visited here after hearing good things, we arrived in plenty of time before the lunch deal finished for the day, which would have made this affordable. Young chap took our order, and 3 of us had the lunch menu in front of us and pointed to items off it, indicating we wanted the deal. They even said shall we order desert now or later, further indicating our intention to have the lunch deal. Food came, 2 of the 3 guests were happy with the food and then ordered the dessert which was part of the lunch menu. All came correctly, and then we asked for the bill. We had been charged individually for everything we ate and the lunch menu deal hadn 't been applied, so we were charged ÂŁ20 extra for this mistake on their side. The waiter was a young lad, so we accepted that this must just be a mistake and asked a lady who appeared to be more senior. We explained the situation, mentioning that even though we didn 't explicitly say 'lunch deal ', we made it pretty obvious to the waitor. This more senior lady went and had a chat with the waitor and came back to us to say he thought the lunch menu was only Sunday, so she apologised to us and was lovely and genuinely apologetic. However, she then explained that basically because we had eaten the food (which she explained was a tiny bit of a bigger portion to the lunch menu meal) that we had to pay, and came over with the card machine. Therefore, she acknowledged that it was the young waitors fault but still charged us ÂŁ20 more than it was. We didn 't want to cause a fuss because the young waitor could see everything and we didn 't want to dishearten him, but I expected more from the senior woman. Very very dissapointed."

"My first visit to Morning Star was a great experience. We were there to see a talented musician named Dan Towers, who has quite a following in Oldham after moving from Bury, where he's already well-known and has even performed at Glastonbury. Although we didn't order any food since we had already eaten, the dishes being served looked absolutely delicious. I can't wait to come back for some of their famous Cheese and Onion pies. The staff was friendly, efficient, and there were plenty of them working during the busy Easter weekend. The drinks were also reasonably priced and of good quality. Dan Towers was a hit with the diverse crowd of all ages at the venue, with the loudest applause coming from the back. Interestingly, the tables closest to the stage were all reserved but remained unoccupied. Despite this, the performance was energetic and engaging, with Dan showcasing his impressive guitar skills and unique blend of rock and country music, including some of his original songs. Unlike the typical pub gig, Dan's musical abilities stood out. At one point, a group of local guys attempted to join in on a song, but Dan responded with an impressive guitar solo, showing his professionalism. The Morning Star offers ample parking, and the atmosphere and decor are just right for a local pub. Overall, it was a fantastic night out. Thank you for the great experience."

"After a 40-minute wait, a waitress came over to apologize for the delay and informed us that we would receive a discount on our bill at the end. One of the main dishes, the mixed grill, arrived without the steak. The steak was brought to our table five minutes later, followed by onion rings that were also missing, which arrived after another five minutes. Unfortunately, the tomato did not arrive at all to complete the dish. Another dish, the chicken and pancetta linguine, was served without the chicken. I realized halfway through that it was missing, but I didn’t want to wait another 40 to 50 minutes for a fresh dish, so I chose not to bring it up with the staff. The food itself was nice, but the service was frustrating. When we finally finished eating, it took an eternity for someone to clear our table and check on our dessert orders. The desserts arrived relatively promptly, but it took a long time for anyone to come and clear the empty plates afterward. When we asked for the bill, there was no discount applied. I spoke with the waitress who had mentioned the discount earlier, and she relayed the bill to the manager standing next to her. It was awkward because the manager didn’t acknowledge us or try to engage in conversation. I understand that a 10% service charge is common for large parties, and we’re usually happy to pay it, but this time we felt we paid that fee for a lack of service."
