"My family visited here after hearing good things, we arrived in plenty of time before the lunch deal finished for the day, which would have made this affordable. Young chap took our order, and 3 of us had the lunch menu in front of us and pointed to items off it, indicating we wanted the deal. They even said shall we order desert now or later, further indicating our intention to have the lunch deal. Food came, 2 of the 3 guests were happy with the food and then ordered the dessert which was part of the lunch menu. All came correctly, and then we asked for the bill. We had been charged individually for everything we ate and the lunch menu deal hadn 't been applied, so we were charged £20 extra for this mistake on their side. The waiter was a young lad, so we accepted that this must just be a mistake and asked a lady who appeared to be more senior. We explained the situation, mentioning that even though we didn 't explicitly say 'lunch deal ', we made it pretty obvious to the waitor. This more senior lady went and had a chat with the waitor and came back to us to say he thought the lunch menu was only Sunday, so she apologised to us and was lovely and genuinely apologetic. However, she then explained that basically because we had eaten the food (which she explained was a tiny bit of a bigger portion to the lunch menu meal) that we had to pay, and came over with the card machine. Therefore, she acknowledged that it was the young waitors fault but still charged us £20 more than it was. We didn 't want to cause a fuss because the young waitor could see everything and we didn 't want to dishearten him, but I expected more from the senior woman. Very very dissapointed."

"I 've been here a few times. It 's a nice enough pub, with a good range of ales. The staff are friendly enough, and the drinks are decently priced. It 's always quite busy and popular among the locals. But I had a bit of a frustrating experience the other day. Me and a friend of mine were walking my dog. It began to rain so we decided to grab a drink somewhere whilst it settled down. We were near the grapes, so I whipped out my phone and googled whether dogs were allowed in the pub. Online it says a child and dog friendly pub... and that dogs [are] allowed inside . I thought brilliant, me and my mate can grab a quick pint whilst we wait for the rain to stop. We go in the pub. Nobody says a word or bats an eye lid. We buy our drinks and go to sit down. As soon as we sit down, the landlady comes over, and, very politely, says dogs are not allowed in the pub. I have no problem with this. A lot of pubs don 't allow dogs in because they can be noisy, dirty, and some people just don 't like dogs. It 's totally fair enough. But it was frustrating because it meant we then had to stand outside in the rain and the cold. The information online is clearly out of date and needs changing. I just thought I 'd do a review to give other dog walkers a heads up, and make the owners aware that the online information is incorrect. The pub itself though is nice enough though. I 'll definitely go again but next time I 'll have to leave the dog at home."
