"Absolutely !! As a travelling foodie, I'm incredibly critical of restaurants and takeaways. I've just eaten a large fish and chips with curry sauce from Good Frydays and the verdict was easy, that's one of the best fish and chips I've ever had and trust me, I don't miss a meal. Why? Starting with the chips, they are exactly what you hope for when visiting a traditional British chippy, great tasting good quality potatoes, a mouth watering texture and all served perfectly hot, a combination that makes them very moreish. Topped with a great tasting traditional chip shop curry sauce, it's just what the Doctor ordered! Onto the star of the show, the large fish which given it's size, could have been mistaken with a shark! ...super tasty, it was an incredibly chunky piece that was perfectly cooked and piping hot! The batter was golden brown, almost an ale colour which was tasty and not greasy. The crowns on the batter were soo crispy even after driving it home. Personally, I always have my fish and chips separate to avoid creating a sweat box so I recommend this, it's an easy was to spoil any battered fish, let alone what could well be the very best Bristol has to offer, Good Frydays is certainly ahead of any other I've had in Bristol over the past several years. Finally, service. What's a great chippy with the classic experience. I'm pleased to say this also scores a 10. A family business, lovely people who are engaging, genuine and just a pleasure to talk to. I've met the father and son a few times now and every time, I enjoy great chat, they are honestly a very down to earth family that remind people like myself to support local. To conclude, absolutely fantastic job, thank you. My family and I loved our delicious food today and without question, I'll be recommending! Apologies for not capturing a photo way before I started, clearly I was keep to dig in! Until the next time..."

"we had an absolutely great eating in the stables in the vayre house tonight! we were in chipping sodbury tonight when we decided we wanted to go to dinner. we looked around on the high road when I suddenly remembered the stables in the vayre house down hadrs lane. we had made the lane a walk and we were blown away from the beautiful vayre house. we could get a table as a walk in as it was a Thursday (we were told during our evening that if it were a Friday or a Sunday then we would probably have to book.) the sitting area in the free was also very nice and had a nice ambiente. we sat outside and had a gin and tonic and our starter before we sat in the restaurant to have our meal and dessert. the personal was welcoming and super friendly, the owner and our waitress rust both our experience here made first class customer service! the interieur in the restaurant was stunning and had a land to feel at home. the food was incredible and probably the best local meal I had ever had (what says a lot, how we are proper food we had to start the homemade vegetable wars with spicy mayo, followed by the sous vide local lamb rump with truffle dauphinoise kartoffels, plucked carrots and a red wine jute, and for the balance I had the mille my dessert was light and well presented and made beautiful. I would definitely return to the stable thes in vayre house and I would like to book to go for their afternoon tee, which also looks fantastic."

"Having just sung through carols in the light of candles I have to say I was in the need of a little light laryngeal lubrication and my better half suggested The Stokers (aka The Magpies if you're a local). I held my tongue and our party entered the lounge looking for a place to sit. The atmosphere was comparable to a football match. In the 70s. At the height of The Football Factory (J King's amazing little volume). We did an about turn and (I kid you not) we were jeered out. I gave them a friendly wave of course. I needed some placation so suggested the ever dependent Brooks. A short drive later we installed ourselves in a cosy corner and quite literally marvelled at the difference in atmosphere and attitude of the locals. When I first moved South I used to say I could tell the difference in dialect between someone from Willenhall and Bentley (approx the same distance separates here and Little Stoke) and I used to get furrowed brows off people who still couldn't work out I wasn't a Brummie. The same still applies 40 years later but I'd add that I missed the subtlety of how you behave when you're three sheets to the wind in your local (I guess something I had less experience of when I was teenager roaming the West Mids being refused admission in the days before fake id and alcopops). The Brook's regulars are young but legal mostly drawing from BS that's young itself. Beer was good, service fast and the place was packed. We left before the quiz started but the party feel was good natured and relaxed. Nuff said."
