"I can literally not speak very enough of this fantastic little gem of a restaurant! we visited the day of my dancing on the weekend. from wolverhampton, we had no idea what actually awaits beside the reviews. After I've come up here now, I can totally see why they have the bright reviews they're doing! as soon as they arrive, they are greeted by the owner and their associates who go through the menu with them, consulting what people tend to do; what is good value for money, but obviously they can have what they want. her sharer option is fantastic and for me and my partner, satisfied our appetit on the point that dessert was a fight and I am all about the cake mat! Literally every single dish was brilliant, with some dressed even more tasty than others, but everything was so delicious that they were just happy to pluck; whether full or not! amazing fresh aromas, food with love and genuine care. you felt like you went home to eat a gourmet meal! but what our night surpassed was just the love for detail regarding how we were rarely treated to get as amazing service from each individual person. we couldn't wait to let them tip and promise them to come back because they were so nice people! if they like to try a lot of really good food and are guided through with a real, funny and caring hand, they need to book a table here! you will not be disappointed!"

"We visited Sunday lunchtime and the pub was very busy with diners. The food we had was mainly Good, we had some errors in service but it is attentive and the draught cider we had is quite expensive. We had a prawn starter which was nice with flavoursome cocktail sauce, salad and a piece of warm bread and butter. I had the roast beef sunday dinner which had to be sent back because there were no roast potatoes or stuffing on the plate. Then I had to ask for horseradish rather than being offered it. The roast dinner comes on a smallish oval plate and portion control is alive and well. My beef portion was small with two measley slices. It tasted okay thankfully. The veg on the plate was tasty as was the gravy and Yorkie (we had extra gravy at no extra cost) The meal overall was pretty good but not Excellent. My vegetarian partner had the beetroot wellington and roasted veg. The extra gravy was sent back as it was meat gravy and was then replaced with veggie gravy. My partner pretty much liked this meal. Waiting times for food were not long at all (and the pub was very busy at the time) and the kitchen seems very efficient where this is concerned. The draught cider we had was Inch's at £2.65 for a half pint. This is pricing at the top end of what you should be paying! So it is expensive! Pricewise for Sunday Roast it's okay here and reasonable, but then, for us, it's much the same price at the Red House, Caverswall (bigger portions), Red Lion at Checkley (bigger portions), Butchers Block at Stone (bigger portions) and Brewers Fayre in Hanley (bigger portions)! Overall a nice visit, but watch the drinks prices!"

"Visited yesterday for a carvery. Paid for a vegetarian option of plant based chicken breast and a large carvery with pigs in blankets. We paid extra for both the vegetarian option and the pigs. We were told that there would be a 10 min delay as the vegetarian option has to be cooked and had no problem with this. The lad on the carvery went and placed the order for us and we hung around waiting for it to done. 20 mins later we got back in the queue, when we got to the front we were told that the veg chicken hadn’t been put in the oven and would be another 15 to 20 mins. At this point I opted to just have the vegetables. My partner’s pigs in blankets hadn’t been prepared and he was told if he wanted them he would have to wait another 15 mins. He decided to not wait or he wanted to eat with me. What should have been a quick visit took over an hour for a mediocre, at best, carvery that we ended up being overcharged for as a result of very poor communication between staff. I can’t understand why the woman who took our order at the till didn’t go into the kitchen, which is just behind her, or even pass the message onto the carvery staff, that there had been additions made to their “normal” menu. This would have been far more efficient and would have meant we would have got the vegetarian option and the pigs in blankets we had paid for. It’s a shame as could be a good place if run more efficiently. We won’t go back."
