"Staying in Aldeburgh for Christmas with family. Last night before heading home we decided to have a meal in the hotel. Lovely experience from start to finish. Great service from a gentleman who I believe was the manager from North London (sorry didn’t catch his name) who took our drink and food orders. Overall staff were a delight. Food was delicious just a little weight for mains. Definitely a return visit if in the area again."

"Waiting service asked the same questions, ordered roast pork loin but got belly of pork, confusion from the staff over the difference in coffees, and we were sat right in front of the singer who was very good but meant that we couldn’t talk as she was too loud."

"Sea Spice provides a delightful dining experience with standout dishes such as Paneer Makhanwala, Paneer Achari, and Dhal. The Paneer Makhanwala is a creamy delight, featuring a rich tomato gravy and perfectly spiced paneer. The Paneer Achari offers a tangy and bold flavor with achari spices, providing each bite with a burst of taste and some of the softest paneer pieces I have ever tasted! The Dhal is exceptional, creamy, and full of rich, comforting spices. Sea Spice truly shines in serving authentic and unforgettable Indian cuisine."

"Went in on Monday the 21st of august at around 8pm with a party of 8. We all ordered everything was okay until my pizza came and i found a very sharp piece of plastic on top of my pizza it was like a piece of plastic cutlery had been snapped in half. It was around 3cm big and white so luckily when i went to eat the pizza i felt it hit my lip otherwise i could have easily have choked. Being 16 however i would have been advantaged of knowing that it shouldn’t have been there however if this plate was given to a child they wouldn’t have known and they probably would’ve swallowed it and choked because it was sharp and could have got lodged anywhere, its disgusting. I told the waitress and she looked at it and took my pizza away then brought me back another one. This pizza was burnt to a crisp underneath as it was rushed. Its not acceptable nothing was done either. No money refunded nothing taken off the bill not even an apology it was a disgrace. After all this we get the bill it comes with a £17 service charge after what had happened its not good enough. Would not recommend, can get a lot bigger portions elsewhere for your money."

"What really sets The Alex apart is its prime location right on the seafront, providing stunning views of the ocean, beach, and pier. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, often discussing their recipes and extensive beer and wine selection with patrons. The bar offers a wide range of beers and wines and has a lively atmosphere, particularly in the evenings when the indoor seating area is bustling. The outdoor area is heated, attracting both smokers and dog walkers and giving the bar a vibrant and energetic vibe. The only downside is that on sunny days, the road outside can be busy with cars full of youngsters driving by. However, overall, The Alex is an excellent choice for any time of year, whether it be a sunny summer day or a cold and rainy winter evening."

"We stayed at the hotel last night and enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast! I’m vegan and I felt there was a great variety of choice for me including alcoholic drinks! I had an amazing falafel and humous starter, a vegetable curry and a gorgeous...chocolate cake for desert. I couldn’t fault a single dish! My other half had soup and steak. He said it was the best steak he had ever had and was cooked to perfection! We also enjoyed breakfast this morning which was just as amazing! We will absolutely be returning soon! High quality food for an excellent price, in a stunning location with amazing friendly and helpful staff. Keep up the good work!"

"I really liked this multi-roomed Adnams pub situated across the road from the 17th century Moot hall and seafront gardens. If you enter from the sea facing side then you walk through two front areas mainly aligned for dining before reaching the bar and an additional two areas which are more set up just for drinking. A nice Creme and sea blue decor throughout and plenty of period black and white photos of the local area to provide some character. 4 Adnams ales were on with the usual Broadside, Southwold Bitter and Ghostship, but I went for the Regatta golden ale and very good it was. We were only in for drinks on this lunchtime as we intended to graze from the seafood shacks on the stone beach a short walk away, and I like the fact that there was a good mix of people eating and just drinking, even in the front two rooms. This was probably the pick of the pubs I tried in Aldeburgh."

"We visited the restaurant in late September 2023 with a party of four, including a child. One of the main dishes we ordered was the Lobster and Crab Ravioli. When it arrived, I found it to be too small, more like a starter size rather than a main course. Our granddaughter, who is five years old, had the Spaghetti Carbonara in a child portion, which was actually bigger than the ravioli dish. If the dish is intended to be this small, it should be clearly stated on the menu. Priced at £17.95 for what I consider to be not even a starter portion, I feel it is overpriced. We have dined here before without any issues, but we will be avoiding it in the future as we have found Bencotto across the road to be much better."

"We had a really lovely meal at the Black Tiles today to celebrate my dad’s 86th birthday with family. There were 12 of us and we had various meals, including roast dinners, burgers and pizza. All were delicious! One of the children is quite a fussy eater but it was no problem for the chef to cook a special pasta dish not on the normal menu. She loved it! We brought along a birthday cake and we were offered plates and a knife. Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely staff, and a special mention goes to Sarah one of our waitresses. My dad enjoyed his celebration very much. Thank you Black Tiles!"

"We found Delphine's on our way to the beach. It is a fantastic little island of kitsch 1950's Americana is what is otherwise a very lovely, but one note, high street (think Waitrose By The Sea). I had my very very food fussy 12 year old daughter, Paddy, a well behaved Labradoodle and my daughter's sugar loving friend with me. My daughter asked for a special order, (burger with plain bun, and chips, no relish, no salad) which the lovely man cooking and even lovelier waitress made it very clear was not a problem. When we arrived, there was only a two seater in the corner available, and, as there were three of us, I asked if we could move to a bigger table if one became available. That was also not a problem and as soon as a bigger table was free, they prioritised cleaning it up, and we moved. Some of the fresh ingredients needed for the milkshakes on the menu hadn't been delivered that morning, but we had that explained before we ordered. My daughter's friend ordered an Oreo Milkshake which was bigger than she was. She finished it. We all had different burgers and they were all absolutely delicious. When we go back to Aldeburgh, we will be heading there again!"

"We stopped in here on a blustery autumnal Friday following a walk with dogs around the grounds of the adjacent castle. We received a walm welcome and we're seated quickly with menus offered and specials/exceptions explained. Prices are very reasonable and service is swift. We had a hot meal which was exactly what was needed. The only downside soup of the day was clearly cup a soup, whilst warm and tasty, it did leave something to be desired. Otherwise food ordered was excellent. Possibly best to visit during more popular times than an off season Friday lunch."

"Only an overnight stay but made the most of our time. Looked forward to dinner and was not disappointed a high standard and a reasonable range of choice were the the wine less expensive then may have given in to a 2nd bottle, am sure there is an opportunity to entice customers by offering either an overall better price or a reduced price on the 2nd bottle? Having retired to our somewhat small room and small double bed we regretted not enquiring about size of both prior to booking. However soon it was time to go down for breakfast, nothing unusual about the offering and ingredients were all seemed to be of high quality, sadly overcooked sausages did not stand be re heated/kept warm being somewhat hard and dry. Not so sure we will return and will have to seek out alternatives in the area."
"My wife and I enjoyed lunch at this wonderful place today. It is a great spot with plenty of parking, a friendly and professional staff, and a classic English pub atmosphere. The food was amazing, with a variety of interesting specials, and they were able to accommodate my wife's dietary needs. Unfortunately, we had a mishap where the pepper dispenser spilled all over my wife's meal. The staff handled the situation exceptionally well, offering a sincere apology and quickly replacing the meal with a brand new dish within 5 minutes. We were very pleased with the level of service, especially in a challenging situation. Overall, we highly recommend The Cherry Tree for a fantastic dining experience."

"The Sunday roast at this restaurant was disappointing. We had to wait over 30 minutes past our reservation time and the restaurant was very busy. The staff was lovely and apologetic, offering us a complimentary drink. However, when we finally received our meals, they were not worth the wait. The meat was okay, the vegetables were undercooked, and the roast potatoes were not crispy and hard to cut. The entire meal was cold. Despite the issues, we decided not to complain as we didn't want to wait longer and didn't think they could improve it without recooking everything. The staff seemed overworked and tried their best, but it's not worth it to have offers if the restaurant is overbooked and can't provide a decent meal. We won't be returning for the Sunday roast and will opt for the Wilford Bridge instead, as it offers a much better experience."

"We have visited this restaurant multiple times, primarily because of its convenient location and the quality of the meals. However, we often feel rushed during our visits. The staff frequently push for our food order within minutes of being seated, barely giving us time to enjoy our drinks. Even when we politely ask for more time, they return shortly after to take our order, and our food arrives quickly afterwards. Our dining experience can feel rushed and more like fast food, with the staff even asking about dessert early on because the chef wanted to leave early. It's quite absurd how quickly they try to get customers in and out. While it may be suitable for those in a hurry, it seems like they prioritize speed over customer satisfaction. They may need to consider treating their guests better if they want to keep their jobs."

"We dropped in for lunch after visiting Framlingham Castle. It's a rambling old building and most tables in the restaurant area were already taken so we ended up in the bar which was quite cosy. I had a couple of pints of very good Timothy Taylors, my wife had some not so great Sauvignon blanc. The lunch menu wasn't anything special but the home made steak pie with mash that I chose was very good (and it did look home made). The rack of ribs were also good with a lovely sauce and the ribs just fell apart, as they should, however it was an enormous portion and came with a pile of fairly average fries. The staff were really helpful and kept checking we were OK with everything."

"Having previously visited, I returned to Honey Harvey with my wife with a view to enjoying brunch. After entering, we waited patiently as a customer ordered a takeaway coffee. We then advised the young lady behind the counter that we were after a table for two for brunch. “It’s just a matter of finding a table…” she said curtly. We then wandered through, looking for somewhere to sit. As we did, at least two other staff members ignored us. We stopped, looked around, and as we then made our way back to the entrance, we noticed two customers nursing coffees and working on their laptops. Ea h was on a separate table, taking up a table for four. That notwithstanding, at no point did any staff suggest we might wait for a table to become free—we’d have been happy to wait. Given the absolutely appalling service, I can’t see us ever going back. We then walked the short distance to the Two Magpies. There, we were treated completely differently. We were greeted as we went to the counter, told that we were in time for brunch and shown to a table. Enough said. Time to sweat the small stuff, I’d suggest."

"A bit disappointing to be honest. Visited with family friends on a Monday night. Admittedly not the best night usually for a restaurant visit. There werw 6 of us, we bought a bottle of Prosecco for aperitif. Decided against starters. My main, Lebanese chicken breast was tasty. Others were not so thrilled. A seafood pasta had a few mussels and a couple of shrimps. Another had a tough old pork Chop. Never mind, we all looked forward to affogato deserts. Waitress took our order, then came back to the table to say the freezer was broken so none of our deserts available. We paid the bill and left. By the way our Prosecco was a tad over £32 for the bottle. A bit of a pricey surprise. Our fault though, we should have asked the price first before ordering."

"I visit regularly every 2 3 weeks. It 's a lovely environment and there 's always plenty of space (never had a problem getting a table, ever! . There 's always a great selection of cakes, sausage rolls, etc you can also order from their menu. The people taking the order at the front are always polite, helpful and efficient (never had a bad person yet! . The food is always delivered super quickly (unlike some places that can take an age! , and is always of super quality. I have tried other Honey Harvey 's such as the nearby Woodbridge one, and they are nowhere near as efficient. I absolutely love this place and highly recommend it."
