"6 of us visited a couple of weeks ago. I chose the Sweet and Sour pork off the Specials menu. Well, everyone else's meals arrived but not mine. Apologies and assurance it would be a few minutes. After a few more minutes, it arrived with apologies and a blame on the ordering system. What arrived was sad. It was cubes of freshly cut, but old, cold pork quickly dumped into a commercial sauce, heated up and served in a rush. Cold pork takes on a definite taste when left for a while or even days and this pork had this taste. Everyone else's meals looked fine so why pick on me?. I think this was a way of using up leftover pork, maybe even from the previous weekend's Sunday roast. I didn't complain because someone else had picked up the bill. I would have welcomed an admission that the S S pork was not available and I would have been very happy with ham egg chips. My advice to customers and owners alike...Just stick to more usual pub food. ."

Friendly staff, and nice food. Is handy if visiting the castle for a better lunch alternative. Good variety of food and yummy desserts. Plenty of outside seating. Dogs welcome.

Absolutely thrilled to have discovered this inn. Lovely and warm and friendly. Great ales and superb tasty food. We will definitely return when we are next in the area. Highly recommended.

This place is fantastic with incredibly welcoming staff. We have dined here numerous times and the fish and chips are some of the best I have ever tasted. The Sunday roast is also exceptional. View menu

Very disappointing meal, 4 adults, 3 children. Only one of the meals was enjoyable, pizza's under cooked, jacket potato sent back as it was Luke warm, prawns in Marie sauce was in a pot as requested but they were warm

We had a really lovely lunch here just after having seen the castle in Framlingham (it's right next door beside the castle car park). I had the prawns in Marie rose sauce on a jacket potato and my sister had the soup. My JP was excellent! Very friendly staff and great vfm.

The staff at this restaurant provided a nice and warm welcome, they were very friendly and helpful. The 4 meals we ordered were delicious, but the portions were large so we couldn't finish everything. I gave it a rating of 4 instead of 5 because there were a lot of flies inside while we were trying to eat, and the men's restroom was not pleasant. There were two urinals, one was full of urine and the other had a leaking pipe with urine all over the floor. View menu

Once was great and now a shadow of its former self. Really needs a clean, both inside and out. Toilets grimy, courtyard covered in cigarette ends and dog poo under one of the tables which we had to clean from cigarette butts before eating, despite there being No Smoking signs by the booths. Real shame. Love coming here and returned for first time since 2015 only to be severely disappointed. Staff still nice, they’re just fighting a losing battle at the moment.

I believe this restaurant has potential to succeed with the right team of staff and front-of-house management. It could greatly benefit the town of Framlingham, but unfortunately, they seem to rely on passing tourists who end up dissatisfied with the food and unlikely to return. It's a shame to see another disappointing establishment in town. I predict it will only last another year. If you're reading this, please be aware that the food is not good, and I feel embarrassed that this is the representation of Suffolk's culinary offerings.

"This wasn’t our first visit (the previous occasion was more positive than this) but this was really quite poor. Problem after problem, service was poor and just not very welcoming. Firstly, drinks weren’t available issues with draft, but then bottles weren’t available either. So there was a very limited selection of drinks on offer and the staff weren’t proactive in advising what was available. So it was request and receive a no! Secondly, the food was poor. The starters were shocking. Really quite bad. There was a bit of redemption from some of the mains, but we elected to not proceed with anything else as it wasn’t great. We had to wait ages for drinks and foods to arrive despite the fact that the restaurant was practically empty and many staff present. Frequently there were 3 staff at the back of the room standing about chatting, but they weren’t attentive to our needs. They didn’t check around the room to see if guests required additional drinks or require plates clearing. They didn’t check to see how the food was and when we complained regarding a starter they simply didn’t know how to handle it. When the draft beer came back on there was no proactive behaviour in returning to the table and letting us know so that more drinks could be ordered. Drinks were poured in wrong glasses, plates were cleared whilst people were still eating and then not cleared when they needed to be! Simply put the staff working had no idea on what table service should be perhaps they had received no training which is a major failing when the restaurant is part of a hotel. It was not welcoming. The restaurant was freezing cold. The service was really very poor and the food disappointing. They also don’t take dogs which in Aldeburgh is a bit weird. There is plenty of space and the tables are large so they would not be in the way. We won’t be returning."
