"The staff are trying their best ... and I feel for them that I'm posting this review, but perhaps management need to step it up a gear given they claim to be a fine dining' restaurant that's a very bold claim, and one that's...certainly NOT substantiated by the surroundings. Firstly, I tried to book by leaving two answerphone messages and a website enquiry. Yes, they're closed on a Monday, but why not have an answerphone message to that effect and a call-back service? When I booked I clearly stated that we would have to sit outside as we were bringing a large (but well-behaved) dog. When we arrived (6.30 pm), they had no record of the dog! The gazebo area is large, but it wasn't set up no blankets, no lights, no patio heater. The area looks grubby and unkempt and table settings were missing several items of cutlery. We asked for the lights to be switched on, we asked for a blanket for my grand-daughter, but no patio heater. The food was good not particularly for me as a veggie but everyone else said theirs was delicious. The service ... they really do try, but it's young men and women who look nervous and not very confident. The door to the outside was closed understandably as other diners would have been chilly but then we were almost forgotten about. At one point we had to close one of the sides on the gazebo and the wind blew and broke a wine glass spilling it all over my food that left it inedible. Our fault for sitting outside on a windy evening perhaps. Fine dining isn't all about the food it's about the furniture, the atmosphere, the service and the surroundings ... you haven't got that right Malagor. We spent almost £200 so I feel I have a right to be a little disgruntled. We'll stick to your takeaway menu in future."

"What has happened to Valentino's? I have eaten here in the past and although it has never been perfect, it's still been a nice place to eat, not anymore! I decided to book a table for two, for my girlfriend and myself to celebrate our first year anniversary knowing it can be quite a romantic setting, how I was wrong. To start we were seated by a member of staff who dumped our menu's on the table before walking away without taking a drinks order or even handing the menu to us. When coming to take the order, my girlfriend asked if the cheese in the Antipasti was goats cheese, the waiter said he would check and continued to take the order. Ten minutes later our food turned up, the waiter had gone ahead and ordered my girlfriends food and just decided to take the cheese out! I called a waitress to explain the situation and she apologised, we asked if she could bring some mozzarella, a moment later she turned up with Blue cheese, again we asked for mozzarella, the waitress apologised again and returned with four large lumps of parmesan! Again we asked for mozzarella, which finally arrived once half the starters had been eaten. Then our mains arrived, steak Diane, asked for medium, this came well done with an extremely salty Diane sauce. We also ordered some truffle parmesan chips, these tasted like they had been fried 100 times before we got them. I asked for another drink twice, 15 minutes later the same waiter came and asked if I would like another drink even though he hadn't brought the others I'd asked for. Throughout the meal, the waiters kept knocking the drinks menus off the table as they walked past and just dumped them back on the table as we were eating, a new year's eve menu was pushed on to the table mid-meal with no regard that my girlfriend's arm was there. Overall the food was semi edible but not worth the price we paid as we only got one decent starter and one decent main between us, and the service was terrible. Unfortunately, it would seem that the experience of the waiting staff is very minimal and it shows. The one saving grace was our waiter deducted the price of the truffle chips after noticing we didn't eat them. To top it all off, this was supposed to be a romantic Italian meal for two, with the choice of music, I felt like we were sitting in the middle of a 2010's night club."
