"I went today with my daughter who is autistic. My daughter was excited (as most children are when they see cake! So she accidentally tapped the glass.case that the cakes were in. Admittedly it may have been quite hard but my special needs daughter struggles with her own strength. The lady in the shop was very rude which already made me feel awkward. Then I told my daughter she couldn 't have a milkshake, sandwich and cake (way too much sugar/food in one go! So she struggled with my reasoning as many autistic children do. When I ordered the sandwich and a milkshake the lady went into the back to make.the milkshake and then proceeded to come out to say 'excuse me, no shouting inmy shop '! I was shocked and upset that anyone thought they could talk to my daughter this way and no concept that she may have special needs. The customer behind me even said to her child, 'wow don 't you play up or she will say that to you! '. I stood there in shock and paid for my things to which the lady said to my child 'I hope you won 't play up now that your mommy has brought you a milkshake '. This made me feel embarrassed and upset that she thought it was OK to shout at my child and infront of others. Being a parent of an autistic child is hard enough without being made to feel worse by adults who should know better! The sandwich was OK and the milkshakes definitely wasn 't worth the money (tasted like nesquick with a bit of squirty cream and sprinkles on! . Whoever owns this bakery needs to put thier staff on customer service training (especially after reading some of the previous reviews and some training on how to interact with special needs customers. I left the shop and burst into tears as I couldn 't cope with the shock and embarrassment. It would be nice if the owner replied to this review but I very much doubt they will!"

"Popped in for a coffee this afternoon, kind of wish I hadn 't. I asked for a Flat White, my freind had a Delux Cappuccino . We also asked about cakes. Both of us opted for the Apple Pie with Ice Cream. To say I was disappointed is a bit of an understatement. The pie was flat and soggy and to be honest wasn 't the best tasting apple pie. The ice cream was a single scoop of cheap Raspberry Ripple, the kind of cheap, nasty stuff I would have gotten as part of a primary school dinner some point in the late 1980 's. The pie arrived 1st then the coffee 's a minute or so later. We didn 't get any cutlery with the pie but assumed some would be brought over with the coffees... No. All we had was the teaspoon that came with the coffee, no decent sized spoon of fork and no napkin either (other tables had cutlery and napkins). My Flat White wasn 't really all that good, it was essentialy just a Latte and even then, the coffee wasn 't that decent. My freinds delux cappuccino was supposed to come with cream, marshmallows and a flake, I saw no evidence of the flake (unless it had sunk and dissolved), just extra dusted chocolate, a tiny bit of squirty cream and some very small marshmallows I wouldn 't say it looked delux Final point of annoyance was the price. £11.50 for 2 mediocre coffees and 2 worse than mediocre Apple Pies. Also they only take Cash! Not great in a post covid environment where every other business under the sun is trying to use contactless payments to reduce the chances of infection. Given the location and the competition, I would expect this place to be better. I was there a number of years ago and got decent coffee and a really nice slice of cake. Since then it has been remodelled and I believe changed owners. Even still, with a Costa next door, a restaurant/pub behind them, another coffee shop accross the street and several kiosk icecream/coffee/doughnut or chip shops all within 50yrds they really need to pick up their game. Prime position right on the prominade of a busy sea side town. I suppose they may be trying to get quantity over quality...? The only posative I can find is that the 2 x young women who were serving seemed pleasant and freindly, but that can 't make up for the poor quality products that were not worth the money being charged. I went there today largely because I enjoyed what I had the last time and would rather give my money to a local business rather than massive corporation like Costa but to be honest, I don 't think I will be back there any time soon."
