"I was recommended this restaurant by my colleagues, and I was not disappointed. The food was of a high standard and served in generous portions. However, the service could have been improved. For dessert, I ordered a mini dessert along with a hot drink, but I received the drink about five minutes before the dessert arrived, which was a bit disappointing since they should ideally be served together."

"You will not find a better country pub setting to eat at. The Horse Shoes has that perfect blend of historic queues and 21st century clean interior splendour. It’s is cavernous with many sections to its seating arrangements. Would you like to sit by the fire? In the veranda? Or in the lounge, madam? Service is friendly, experienced and salt of the earth. My complex food requirements were happily catered for. There are loads of traditional pub food options and their classier specials range. Food is cooked using fresh ingredients and decorated in a beautiful selection of ceramics that turns the presentation up to 11. The food tastes beautiful and price is spot on for this higher end pub eatery."

"Located by the river and just a stone's throw from the city center, this restaurant offers great value for money. The vegan menu was impressive with numerous options to choose from. I can't recall all the choices available, but I enjoyed a tasty salad followed by a flatbread topped with a delicious red pepper chutney, eggplant, oyster mushrooms, and rocket. The meal also came with a choice of chips or salad, both freshly made. The staff was friendly and the ambiance was charming. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning."

"Excellent service and food on a very busy mothers day. Very friendly staff from the greeting by Paris, the waiting staff and the chefs Matt, Katie, Connor and Josh. A lovely menu, with plenty of availability even though it was late in the day. The food arrived in a timely manner and was presented very well, and tasted as good as it looked. We will be returning soon!"

"The ambience and service were very good and provided a restaurant, rather than pub, atmosphere. There was quick response to our arrival and no delays of any kind. My reservation on this occasion was that it seemed that the cod in my batter (From the fish and chips I ordered) was overcooked, so that it was lacking in the usual firmness one would expect. I certainly intend to eat at the Hand and Sceptre again, however."

"I was really disappointed as I booked the Cornerhouse to take work colleagues out that had been visiting from the US, that had particular dietary requirements. In the past I have found the extensive menu to be very good and the dining room to be lovely. But on this occasion when I arrived I was told that the kitchen was being refurbished and so we had a limited menu and that the dining room was closed so we had to sit in the main bar area, which was noisy and full of punters. The limited food option was very disappointing as we had already selected what we wanted to eat in advance from the menu on the website (where there was no mention of the refurbishment) and when what we did order arrived it was under cooked and cold. We did not stay long and it was not somewhere that my colleagues will want to return to. Had there been any advance contact (as the restaurant had my details) it could have really helped to improve the situation."

"We had an amazing starter of chicken liver parfait, which we shared but regretted not getting one each because it was so delicious. The belly pork was difficult to cut and quite chewy, although tasty. It wasn't as melt-in-your-mouth as we had hoped, but the scallops that came with it were heavenly. The waiter kindly removed a round of drinks, costing nearly £12, to make up for our disappointment. Despite our mixed experience, we would recommend this restaurant and would be willing to give it another try if we are in the area again."

"We come to the Bell quite often and have always found it good value and an enjoyable experience. The Bull and Bush in Hampstead is my local from work and is the same group. I would usually give but on this occasion it was very cold in the restaurant. Our party was better fixed than those in the conservatory where two women were sitting huddled in their coats and walking through to the cloakrooms one realised how cold it was out there. We did mention it twice to our waitress but unfortunately we were fobbed off with excuses. perhaps the heating could have been on as all the radiators were cold."

"I had the best burger I've ever eaten, and the scallops as a starter were absolutely fantastic. However, the service was quite disappointing. We were not greeted at the door and had to wait five minutes before anyone attended to us. There was also no information about the complimentary Halloween cocktail I had received via email, and by the end, we had to settle the bill normally. Throughout our meal, no one checked in to see if everything was okay, which was a real letdown considering the restaurant had a nice atmosphere."

"What a disaster. I made a reservation over a week in advance through OpenTable and received two confirmation emails. When I arrived on time, I was told there was no table for me. It took fifteen minutes to get the manager, who was positioned behind the bar, to address the situation. He spoke quite rudely and refused to help us. I highly recommend avoiding this place; they are completely unreliable."

"The new decor is amazing and I love the atmosphere but sadly the service and the food have not improved. I had the rotisserie chicken which I expected to be nice and juicy . It was dry and tough. The broccoli came ad a chunk not small pieces and was too hard to cut and not apetising at all . They need to sort this out as the food always lets them down . The basics need to be improved . We were there on a lunch time and I have heard that in the evening the service is worse such a shame when the place has had such a lot of money spent on it , I won’t be going again any time soon ,"

"Having visited twice in October when visiting relatives we were really looking forward to another great evening however we were all extremely disappointed. Service is really poor and staff seemed to be doing us a favour to actually even serve us. All the guests were seated in the same area virtually on top of each other in one small section. Food was really disappointing. Brie starter was just one small triangle with a teaspoon of chutney, not even a sprig of garnish. Fish with fish and chips wasn’t cooked properly and was undercooked as were the chips accompanying it. All meals were disappointing. A Friday evening in June and the place was virtually empty which should have made us think twice then!!!!! Won’t be returning again and certainly wouldn’t recommend it."

"I've visited the Derby Poore several times and generally had a good experience, but this time was disappointing. We waited over 30 minutes to receive our check, despite several waitstaff passing by and us trying to get their attention. After waiting 45 minutes with no one coming to assist us, I finally had to go to the cash register to request the bill. Additionally, the food was cold, and the gravy was runny. The service was not up to par for a place with so much potential, and I won't be returning."

"It was our Anniversary and I wanted something special so we went here having not been for a while as the last time we went wasn't the best but we thought we would try again. The starter was good but when the main came out my wife's fishcakes were just warm and consisted of mainly mashed potato on a pea volute which was very grainy with no taste she also had a side salad that was served in a tiny bowl and it consisted of rocket leaves a couple of slithers of cucumber the tops of spring onion and two tiny slices of tomato which was £3.50. at the end of the meal my wife had left half of it and we complained and it was removed from the bill but that is the second time we have not had a good experience there and wont be going back"

"We had an incredibly disappointing experience and will not be returning to this restaurant. While the décor and design are nice, the restaurant is severely lacking in proper management. The assistant manager is a major issue, as he seemed more interested in chatting with the kitchen staff and checking his phone than attending to the needs of customers. He was very rude to a nearby table of four when they had a problem with their drink, refusing to apologize and instead arguing with them before simply removing the cost from their bill. Despite asking him twice for the bill, we had to pay him because he was too preoccupied chatting with the kitchen staff. It was disappointing to see the other hardworking employees being let down by the manager, who seemed more focused on his phone than interacting with customers. The owner should reconsider recommending this restaurant to others."
