"for the first time to visit the faintest for eating. we decided to eat here because it had a vegan menu. they have 4 starters and 4 nets, although one of them was from the menu. I chose the Falafel star and the Butternuss Quarry. my partner had prawn cocktail. his cloves came translucent and frozen. the presentation was also not the best, it was somehow thrown on a plate with Mayo-Blobbed on the plate. I enjoyed my Falafel star. I've never served a dish that looked like my curry came. I am surprised that the waiter did not ask to be honest. it was that terrible rice and curry sauce from a microwave meal my plate was full of water and had spun slices on butternuts quash, I thought it was slices melone first! also get up! I hate complaining and I would bite it, though it looks terrible that it was raw. I couldn't even put my fork in the squash. the waiter and the manager were beautiful, very apologetic after I had seen my meal coming. I didn't want anything after that, because there were only superfood salad or tagliatelle to choose from. we didn't have to pay for something nice gestures, but I still wouldn't return for food."

"We decided to go to Heanton Court again based on our previous positive experience. Upon arrival, we ordered drinks and chatted with the bartender. We were seated at a table and given ample time to peruse the menu. The waitress was friendly as we ordered a salmon dish and three steak pies. After a 30-minute wait, the waitress informed us that the salmon was unavailable, leaving us with only two steak pies. Despite the hiccup, we received our food. For dessert and coffee, there was a slight delay in getting our coffee. The waitress apologized for the oversight. Although she was polite and apologetic, it slightly dampened our evening, especially since it was Mother's Day and our son had just returned to Chicago. Despite this, we have enjoyed our previous visits to Heanton Court and hope for more attentive service in the future. Thank you."

"We chose Heanton Court as we have been before and had a good experience. We arrived and ordered drinks and had a bit of banter with the bartender. We were shown to the table, we were given a good amount of time to choose our food. The waitress was very nice. We ordered one Salmon and three Steak pie, we waited approximately 30 minutes when she returned and advised us that the order hadn’t gone through mean time they only had two pies. We reordered and received our food. After the main we ordered one sweet and coffees, the sweet arrived within minutes, we waited another 15 minutes but no coffee, when I asked she had forgotten about them. She did apologise and didn’t charge for the sweet and one of the mains. Although she was very polite and apologetic it marred our evening which was partly for Mother’s Day, but mainly our son was returning to Chicago. We like Heanton and enjoyed previous visits, I would just like the waitress to be a bit more attentive. Sorry for the rant. Thank you."

"We didn't enjoy our experience at Bugle Horn. Don't book through OpenTable; they had no record of our reservation under either their booking number or our name. Even though I received a confirmation email and reminder, it didn't matter because they had no record of it. As a result, we were seated in the bar area, where we felt isolated. The reception was quite unfriendly and they couldn't accommodate us in the main restaurant. We understand that it was a busy evening, but they certainly didn’t seem overwhelmed. This definitely dampened the overall experience for us."

"We always enjoy going to vintage inns and have visited many but this one is very disappointing not clean or welcoming no service whatsoever even though there was only one other customer dinning and two having drinks. "We had made reservations through open table for The Snow Goose. The hostess said she did not have our reservation I showed her the confirmation she said doesn't matter, I don't have them and we are full. You can sit on the other side of the dining area and you order from the bar. Since we were tourists with no other dinner plans we decided to stay and do that. We sat at a table as she said, reviewed the menu, made our selections and went to the bar to place our order. After waiting for 10 mins or so someone told her we were waiting to order and she reluctantly came over to us. She asked us what our table number was no where on the table I saw a table number and she hadn't instructed us to gain one so she said go find your number and come back poof she left us there gaping so we went to the table, gathered our things and left. So because of her very poor attitude and severe lack of customer service, we had to go find another location for dinner, that was so unnecessary. I hope she was only having a bad day and took it out on us and doesn't treat all of the guests that way visiting Scotland everyone except this woman were so kind and helpful."

"Typically, this restaurant is very good, but today the food was excellent while the service was lacking. Despite pre-ordering our meals, our party of 16 people, booked for 12:30, experienced long wait times. Most of us arrived on time, but still had to wait quite a while for our main meals, and even longer for desserts. To make up for the delay, they gave us a £50 discount. I hope they can address the issues causing the delay, as it is a charming old pub and I would like to visit again in the future."

"The staff at the restaurant were very friendly and the roasts were delicious. However, the restaurant was busy and we ended up waiting for an hour for our meal, which was difficult as we had a toddler with us. Unfortunately, no one informed us of the long wait or updated us on the status of our order. While the roasts were tasty and good value, the Nabenburger was better than the Brat but served cold. We were also not offered any additional drinks. It's disappointing because it's a beautiful place, but these issues need to be addressed in the future."

The fish dishes were only comparable to the taste of sheer luxury and the waiter was friendly in describing the exotic tastes so we know as much as we can about what we are ordering and you better be placing your bets that they were right. I am told by the people who accompanied me on this meal that the strawberry sling cocktail was ‘fruity, delicious and highly recommended to other gin-lovers’. Everything from the herbs used in the Caesar sauce to the exact time the steak was cooked for and the bubbles in the Pepsi to the size of the chips was catered for and worth the money, 24 hours a day, everyday of the week, 365 days of the year! "It was truly terrible. We arrived at the Resraurant on time and was immediately shown our immaculate table. We were greeted professionally and courteously and offered a drink. We were offered the menu and waited no time at all for our starter followed by the main course. The food was all superb and the table was well managed for clearing of used items such as plates and glasses. Our server was polite, knowledgeable and friendly As I said at the start, it was truly terrible. It could have been so much worse if I had to prepare, cook, serve, clear and clean if I had done this all at home Not my first visit, and now planning my next. "The organisation in this place is an absolute shambles. I would be ashamed to be in charge of this place AND I would treat my customers with a damn sight more respect! Arrived as a party of 5 with a booking from a week ago to find people queuing out of the door past the sign 'wait here to be seated '. For 5 minutes NO ONE WAS SEATED although 75% of the tables were empty. Eventually side stepped the queue because most were waiting for the bar, and asked a member of staff whether we needed to wait there..... only to be taken straight to our table we could have waited there another 20 minutes if we hadn 't taken the initiative. We ordered drinks and waited 15 minutes for them to arrive. We ordered food and AFTER 45 MINUTES waiting finally asked where it was. It started arriving 60 minutes after we ordered it, and the final meal landed 20 minutes later. Frankly unbelievable to think that they think a 60 minute wait for the first meal is reasonable AND a 20 minute wait for the final meal to arrive after that! With each meal arriving (they arrived in 3 deliveries 10 minutes apart) we got a bleated half hearted 'sorry for the delay ' while we watched other people order after us and receive their meals before us. Finally when we left, having eaten 3 satisfactory meals and 2 very very average meals AN HOUR later than we should have we paid and left for the last time. Not a word of genuine recognition of the fact that their incompetence from front of house through to the kitchen spoiled our family outing. And not a hint of an attempt to make us want to come back. This place deserves its 3.5 trip advisor rating it is only 3.5 on its best day. P.S. I had the burger they use in their Trip Advisor picture. Mine came with half the portion of chips shown and no salad except a solitary mini pickle sitting between the burger and the chip pot"

"Came here for a Birthday Dinner last week and had a great experience. The menu was great, a good selection of Meals and Roasts (as it was a Sunday) and despite it being a Sunday evening everything was still available. The food was well presented and fresh I couldn't fault it. Service was great slightly slow but that's if I had to nit-pick something of the evening it would be that. The drinks and food are fairly priced and portions are great too. The atmosphere is very homely pub and the tables are nicely spaced so you're not sat on top of each other. I would definitely return for another meal here."

Attempted to order 4 trio roast dinners for our party. Was told none left so I tried ordering the roast beef and told none left. Reluctantly we ended up ordering the turkey. However, potatoes were overdone and no stuffing which was supposed to be part of the meal and the portion for the money was a bit on the mean side. We ate our meals and left promptly. As we were still hungry we ended up getting a kebab straight after. I would absolutely give this place a wide berth and not recommend based on our experience which is a shame because it's sited next to a great open space, Coulsdon Common.."
