"We chose this restaurant because it was advertised as dog friendly and we were interested in trying their traditional Sunday Roast. However, we were disappointed from the start as we were told the roast could only be served on the terrace of a lovely garden, rather than in the restaurant. Despite our preference for indoor dining, we agreed due to the nice weather. The service was slow, but we were not in a rush. As we began to eat, we were bothered by wasps, which was concerning for one diner who has an allergy to their stings. Our mention of this issue did not result in a solution. The quality of the food was mediocre and as we asked to move inside, we were told that our dog would have to stay outside even though the dining room was mostly empty. Our complaint about the lack of dog-friendliness was ignored. In the end, we decided to leave and the only form of apology was a significantly reduced bill compared to what we had ordered. Overall, a disappointing experience and a shame."

"we parked right behind the high road, from there was a short walk through abbey mews to the caffe. the parking space is only cash and no app support to pay. the caffe itself is beautiful a very “serious” feeling when they first enter, they are presented with the cake display, which looks great! wait for them to sit on place (release also available) the personal is warm and friendly, they all smiled when we visited. the menu is great, a set of choices for gluten-free and vegan oriented. it is a spacious and comfortable caffe with some beautiful furniture. I had the turbulent latte with milk of the pasture, which was very good, the tab and the green lasagne. it smelled nice and tasted even better than that! I also chose the Mocha Piee and the apple and same folding jacket, both very tasty. because of this experience I would recommend a visit if they are in the city."

"When I booked the table using your website I had requested a round table as it is more convivial but this was not reserved for us, the staff were apologetic and and gave me a glass of presecco on the house to apologise. The staff were very welcoming and helpful but unfortunatley one of our guests had requested no sundried tomatoes on her pizza and it came with extra sundried tomatoes much to her annoyance as she does not like them and had to pick them off! Again they did offer to change it but she wanted to eat with the rest of us so opted to take them offer herself! Having said all of this I did have a good night and the ambience was very pleasant as were the staff and the 25% off the food voucher we had made us even happier!"

"I was very disappointed with our Easter meal at this restaurant with my family. We were recommended this place, but it did not meet our expectations. The food was tasteless and lukewarm, bordering on cold. The only thing I enjoyed was the raspberry sorbet. I have dietary restrictions and ordered the nut roast without being told it came with cauliflower in cheese cream sauce. I always struggle when dining out due to my intolerances, so I did not mention the mistake. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this restaurant."

"we had breakfast and lunch at this beautiful place. very nice restaurant with a wonderful view. the personal is also beautiful. very friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about eating. veganism is very well understood and ingredients are discussed with the kitchen if necessary. we ordered vegan heggis and a lentil short. everything was high quality and very fresh. fresh pumpkin and kale in curry; great! coffee was also very good."

"Had a lovely Sunday lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the veggie option coming with the usual full trimmings. Great choice for the meat eaters too. The rhubarb trifle was amazing. Service dip was merely length of time before our desserts arrived even if we had been forgotten in the rush, just let us know. Waiting staff friendly to the point where all diners are greeted like long lost friends, yet given space to relax and enjoy the surrounds, food and company."

"We had a lovely meal here while on holiday in the area. Our favourite of the three places we tried. The service was excellent, friendly and helpful, and the food delicious. The special roast pork was superb; my other half enjoyed his steak. We sat in the garden at the back, where the tables were well spaced. Felt very comfortable with all the measures"

"We have just returned from lunch at the Woodside. We have been here a few times over the years on and off but we haven't been recently and I can't praise the place enough. The staff were attentive and friendly. We were sat on a nice table by some patio doors and didn't feel crammed in like some places. Myself and my husband had a sharing platter to start which was really good. I then had the Korean chicken skewers with triple cooked chips and the most delicious slaw/salsa I've ever had. Usually when you get chicken skewers you get pieces of chicken breast but this skewer had three delicious whole chicken thighs. The chips were hot and tasty. My husband had the steak and Merlot pie which was a proper pie (not a stew with a lid on). He really enjoyed his meal also. It wasn't cheap but I really don't mind paying if the food is good, and it was. Will be returning."

"We ordered with my partner big vegan breakfast (there are two options vegan breakfast and big vegan breakfast , this was the big one) which is available all day. You can see what is included in the attached photo. I am someone who does not feel fulfilled easily when I eat outside but the portion of this dish was very large. The taste was amazing! There were a few specific things we asked for and the waitress was so helpful and nice to us. I would definitely recommend it for very tasty food and great service!"

"we arrived shortly after 1 hour and there were no places, there were five of us. the manager was very helpful and suggested that a table was ready and had just gone so that we had this table and made him ready for us. while we waited, we ordered in cash. the service was very good, eating was hot and very tasty. would recommend it to any young and old. they also have a gluten-free and vegan menu."

"beautiful location with view. three options for vegans, the curry that we were both chosen was from the menu when we ordered. we then chose the tagine, which was small and tasteless and inspiring. one of us went for the fungus starter that could upgrade to a vegan feta and a net size. they calculated £13.90 for two field mushrooms, an salat garnish and some vegan cheese, we were robbed. when is the standard all in order with their meal times? I answered, it is tasteless and there is simply not enough food, we ordered a bowl chips to calm our hunger, no reduction was offered to the price, just an apology of our very good waitress that she did very best when in the opposite, they try the white lions in thakeham, stunning vegans choice, jackfruitka"

"Absolutely amazing! I went with my boyfriend on Friday night for a lovely meal. He recently moved to the area and we had been told by many locals it was the place to go when in the area. It was more than I expected, the service and A le Carte menu surpassed our expectations. On arrival we didn't reserve an area) we was greeted with warm smiles by all the waiters and staff, who treated us like we were the only people in the restaurant. "First time ever at a Miller and Carter for me and my Dad, who's birthday it was, and it was a lovely experience! The food was gorgeous and the banoffee pie I had for dessert was my fave yet!! The steaks were really good but...what made it a great experience for me was our server Danielle. She was really knowledgeable about the steak and the menu in general and was really friendly and smiley. Good service makes all the difference. Thank you! Definitely a treat. "Been going to The Moody Mare for many years now and last nights food was very disappointing. Garlic bread was soggy, not crisp as it should be. A weak Pimms arrived with no fruit except a lime. The scotch egg was inedible. The yolk was solid, white very firm and the meat part had a very strange taste. It didn't taste, feel or look fresh. I couldn't eat it! Even my rustic chips didn't taste nice. I normally don't leave food so for me to eat about 5% speaks volumes. Our server was very professional, attentive and friendly, as were the other staff. No complaints there. I've always recommended this place to friends and family but for now, I shall not be returning. I am hoping it's a one off!"

"the personal was beautiful and could not do more, but there were only 2 employees and they were very haunted, although they did not show their best. the starter was excellent, but the hauptburger was very dry with a very sad piece salat and tomaten on it. the chips were lukewarm. the dessert was average and we were offered only one because after we had eaten. we decided not to stay for tea and coffee. we have eaten here very regularly and always to christmas, but I don't think we'll be back for a past."

"If you want something a little different this is worth a visit. There is an outdoor terrace if the weather allows or an interior that is a bit somber for a lunchtime. The menu is quite innovative with a range of sizes from small plates to larger portions. and prices are competitive. Order at the bar quoting your table number and the food will be brought promptly. There’s a container of chilled water on the bar for self service and on the day of our visit the staff were donating their tips and selling cakes in support of the Macmillan big coffee morning."

"Fantastic food terrible staff except the manager who was lovely. On entry I went to the bar as no one was about. I was greeted with “yes”, I said I had a table for two booked for 50th birthday. I expected to be shown to a table but she just waved her arm in the air and said, sit where you like. RUDE. No one came to ask if we wanted a drink so again had to go and find someone. I asked the manager for a cocktail menu which he bought me. Still no one came to take my order so I called across to the bar to ask for a cocktail and was told I could only have what was on tap. So I said, what’s the point of giving me a cocktail menu then. I told her the manager gave me the menu, she went off in a huff muttering what sounded like, well I’m not doing it, but I can’t be sure. She came back and said, ok you can have one then, which the manager made for me. Which I might add was lovely. The service didn’t get any better from the waitress’s and bar maid. I pointed out that they had an ant problem as they were crawling over the window sill. I took photos, they said the ants were attracted to my cocktail. Having said all that the food was excellent, so if you don’t mind the attitude of staff it’s worth going for the tasty food. It’s a beautiful setting and lovely building."
