"Fantastic food terrible staff except the manager who was lovely. On entry I went to the bar as no one was about. I was greeted with “yes”, I said I had a table for two booked for 50th birthday. I expected to be shown to a table but she just waved her arm in the air and said, sit where you like. RUDE. No one came to ask if we wanted a drink so again had to go and find someone. I asked the manager for a cocktail menu which he bought me. Still no one came to take my order so I called across to the bar to ask for a cocktail and was told I could only have what was on tap. So I said, what’s the point of giving me a cocktail menu then. I told her the manager gave me the menu, she went off in a huff muttering what sounded like, well I’m not doing it, but I can’t be sure. She came back and said, ok you can have one then, which the manager made for me. Which I might add was lovely. The service didn’t get any better from the waitress’s and bar maid. I pointed out that they had an ant problem as they were crawling over the window sill. I took photos, they said the ants were attracted to my cocktail. Having said all that the food was excellent, so if you don’t mind the attitude of staff it’s worth going for the tasty food. It’s a beautiful setting and lovely building."

"Stopped here after a hot day at thorpe park. Was staying close so suited family meal before we all parted ways. Service from a young lad was nice. Food was nice although chefs, you need to drain the water from the pasta more and reduce the cream in the pan longer as this was too watery. My choice was the Harrissa chicken pasta tasty towards the end but lacked seasoning which I just asked for salt and pepper and as above reduce the liquid! Pasta cooked perfectly Pizza was nice, just food timings are little off as we received everything bar one dish which was another 5 minutes. Pull in timings. As we recieved the first 4 and 2 sides very quickly you had time to pull together. We visited on a Saturday night and thought it would be busy but wasn't, however we liked our choice of table by the open doors as the restaurant was rather warm too. We eyed up the desserts on another table at the beginning and decided to try. Lovely however, the borage flowers, these were dry should have been left off. You put approx 20 dried small flowers that couldn't be avoided ontop, and with every mouthful I had to pull flowers out my mouth. This isn't pleasant. Cherry compote and the gelato were beautiful just ruined by this detail. Which zizzi could just stop and enjoy a better profit margin. Water glasses smudged and one unusable, small details matter!"

"My hubby and I stopped in without booking but staff accommodated us. Spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. Smartly presented, friendly and courteous staff. Food was outstanding! We had intended only having a main course however ended up with three courses. Delicious individual flavours identified in each dish, beautifully presented, perfect portions that were tasty and piping hot. The chefs here have absolutely nailed it. Best steak I've tasted in some time and I know my steak. Exceptional cooking and service. We will return. Would definitely suggest booking in advance as we just timed it right for a table. A wee treasure in beautiful scenery too."

"Absolute shocker. Worst pub meal our group of 8 have ever had. Every plate was beyond poor. All the food was completely tasteless, poorly presented and in no way represents what’s on the menu. Sounds good, tastes awful! Don’t waste your money. It was so shocking it was embarrassing as we are a group of friends and every single dish was poor. Have no idea how The Wandle get away with serving such rubbish. Here’s a thought, get a chef who knows how to season food and is brave enough to taste it before it goes out. If you’ve got to the end of this review and you don’t know what to do……save your money and time and don’t go. If management respond please kindly don’t offer a free meal as we def won’t be risking coming back."

"I'll start with the positives. The staff were very attentive and the pub was very clean. However, there were a few negatives. I booked Sunday lunch here based on a recommendation from the OpenTable app as a family-friendly pub. Unfortunately, my family of 4 children were seated next to two tables of rowdy and foul-mouthed young men. The portion sizes were decent but the food was overpriced for the quality. Each dish had something wrong with it, such as reheated mash, undercooked pastry, slimy mushrooms, and dry/burnt brownies. The price of drinks, particularly cola, was also quite high. I was also disappointed to see that the service charge added to the bill was over 10%. While I always tip between 10-25%, I don't appreciate being told how much to tip, especially when I wasn't impressed with the meal. In conclusion, I will not be returning to or recommending this venue."

"Had supper here, and in our opinion what was served was expensive for what you got, in particular the drinks. What we disiked more than that, was the attitude of the person behind the bar when we queried this. We queried the price of a large glass of pinot (with 10% service we were charged over £10) and was told with a smile it 's not the most expensive wine we 've got here! . We also queried the price of a pint of DIET coke and was told with the same smile, Sorry, we can 't help the Government 's Sugar Tax . In our opinion he was not remotely customer centric, so we will not be going there again."

"Went here for a meal with my Wife and 11 year old son , once seated it became quickly apparent the service was not going to great, we spent most of our time trying to flag down anyone so we could order despite the restaurant not actually being that busy. Our waitress turned up at our table once after we had ordered yelling something incoherent in the middle of a conversation and then left never to be seen again by us, but could be heard yelling at other tables for the rest of the evening in a similar fashion. The food turned up fairly quickly when we finally ordered and was hot, however was desperately disappointing for the price. All three meals were fairly tasteless and awful value for money as was the service. Would rather have gotten a ready meal pasta and frozen pizza."

"We an absolute gem of a spot. We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and they managed to squeeze us in even though I only rang on the day of our visit and we had a party of ten people. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. The atmosphere was cozy and we were well taken care of by the staff. "we went to Sunday afternoon and had a table booked. I had fish and chips and my man and my daughter had burger. the food was served piping hot and was delicious. my fish was perfectly boiled and served with chips, mushy heaps and tartar sauce. the burgers looked good. my daughter changed her fries to sweet potato fries for a 50p extra fee, but she said they were delicious. my man ordered a shandy, but was served as a pint of abbotts. to the luck he noticed and it was changed quickly. unfortunately we were too full of desserts. we have eaten here often and I'm sure we're coming back. it is a beautiful place for all age groups. everyone is very helpful and the service is good."

"Charming pub with fantastic food, and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The room was very nice, but they definitely need to install some privacy glass on the large window right in front of the toilet. It was a hassle to keep pulling the blind up and down, which is a simple fix. Rooms: 4, Service: 5, Location: 4."

The reservations were confirmed, but four days prior to our reservation, it was unexpectedly cancelled. I am open to understanding why it happened, as there may have been a good reason. However, I have not received a call back from the voicemail I left or a reply to the email I sent. This lack of communication is not good for business. "What a fabulous mother’s day we had at The Otter our table was ready even though we arrived early . We opted for the Mothers Day 3 course menu which had loads of choice . The starters were delicious as were the mains with plenty of choice finishing off with a super dessert . The 3 courses were brought out promptly and the waitress couldn’t have been more helpful . All in all a fabulous experience all round . Thankyou can’t wait to return !"

"Unfortunately we picked the wrong day to go to the Lamb inn.Although our table was booked it was not ready for us.We went there for a Sunday roast we could not believe there was no beef or lamb available at 1.30 pm.Plus in the short time we were there we heard a lot of complaints from customer waiting for their meals.We left without ordering .Very disappointed."

"We had an excellent experience at this restaurant! The service was outstanding, with staff that were both warm and friendly. The dining area was very comfortable and clean, and the food, wine, and beers were all great. What more could we ask for? Well, we were truly impressed when my partner requested a bottle of Rosé Prosecco. Although the staff informed her that they didn’t have it, the manager personally came to our table to apologize for the oversight. He offered us a bottle of English sparkling rosé as a substitute, and to our surprise, it was provided at no extra charge. This is a perfect example of exceptional customer service—they truly went above and beyond. Will we return? Absolutely! A big thank you to the staff and management for being so welcoming and for making our visit memorable for all the right reasons."

"we both had steaks and they were so delicious. in the 50s I had many meals over the years. that was just one of the best meals we've ever had. great service, good food, including desserts. only what we did not see was the salate, since he was half an salate with a cheeseflake. beautiful taste, but meaningless, as not really fit with steak mushrooms and pommes. even the hot chocolate drink was great! we have never been to a miller and carter steakhouse, but we will definitely go back. absolutely super. 10/10."
