Booked High-Tea as a birthday celebration and had a lovely afternoon. Food and service were excellent and they made a real effort. Would highly recommend.

We visited for Sunday lunch. The restaurant was fully booked and atmosphere was good. Service was friendly. Roast chicken was good as was the fillet steak. Venison burger patty however was very small and disappointing and would not be recommended. Desserts (sticky toffee pudding and Creme brûlée) were both good. View menu

Went to the star and eagle for lovely Valentine’s Day Meal and just wow The decor for valentines was beautiful heart balloons red roses on the table just perfect so much thought and effort gone into this evening. The food was superb lovely choice all to perfection service excellent with their happy attentive staff and the hosts Scott and Lizzie so friendly and welcoming and nothing to much trouble Would 100% recommend

We hired the 8 Bells (a part of The Star Eagle) for our wedding party. Lizzie, Scott and the team did an absolutely incredible job making everyone feel very welcome. After a chat with Lizzie the food was organised and on the day presented so nicely and more importantly it all tasted fantastic! Overall our experience was brilliant and they really did do us proud. We cannot recommend the 8 Bells enough and we have to rate it as 10/10!

Came here for NYE 2023 ! We had a table of 4 that changed to 10 ! And the staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming and helpful if they tried thank you ! we all had a set 3 course meal and all of us were very happy ! The food was amazing and service the same though out the evening . We also stayed here and our room was lovely even if I did have to take my heels off to make it into it ... PROPER OLD BEAUTIFUL BUILDING thank you all for a wonderful evening and such great service even though you were packed full !! You all worked your socks off and gave us all an amazing evening ! My sister chose the Star and Eagle as her wedding reception venue this September. It has long been a favourite pub for us. It was a fantastic day and a great location. The staff were amazing and very helpful throughout the event, providing seamless service. Everybody was well catered for. The food was delicious and the room in the hotel very comfortable. Despite being the hottest day of the year, extra fans were strategically located and everything possible was done to ensure it went without a hitch. It was a lovely day and I would thoroughly recommend the Star and Eagle. I have no doubt we will be back for dinner soon.

Myself and my Boyfriend popped in today for a light lunch to celebrate his Birthday. Even though we hadn't booked ahead and only ordered snacks they quickly picked up on the reason for our visit and planned a lovely surprise for my Boyfriend. As we were getting ready to leave they came over with a beautifully decorated plate with yummy treats as a Birthday surprise. To say he was touched was an understatement. It truly made his day. The ladies at the Star and Eagle are very lovely and attentive, you can tell they truly care about the presentation of their restaurant but most especially their customers experience. Cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you.

We have been coming here for years. It’s our go to pub in Goudhurst. We love the traditional cosy old interior, with timber frame and fire. It’s always a very calming environment, even when it’s full. What sets this pub apart is there fantastic and diverse menu, which fills two large chalk boards. They even have ‘chiperones’ which is rare to come by in rural england freshly fried baby squid. As good as what you would get in spain. Today they even had a separate fish menu, with 6 delicious fish mains. It’s always great here.
