"Not the best visit we’ve had at this Zizzi’s. We visited on a Thursday evening at 8pm, so relatively quiet. The bar staff were stood around talking whilst we were waiting for drinks. The starters were really great so we were expecting the mains to be of the same quality, but this wasn’t the case. We asked for 2 items to be left out of one of our mains, after waiting about 30 minutes the waitress said that the chef accidentally added the item and asked whether it was ok for me to eat it rather than him making a new one. I personally don’t think this should have even been a question, it should have been re made without me needing to know. The main came out and was clearly very strong in chilli (this was the item I asked to be left out) and turns out there was loads of chillis in there and not just a few like they said. This completely ruined my main. The meatballs in the calzone didn’t seem fully cooked, and typically ever since we have both felt unwell. We’ve both had this main before and it was completely different and no way near as big or as much filling as usual. The waitress at the start was really helpful, but towards the end she was seeming to slack and not give as good service like she did the start. We originally went in the restaurant wanting desert also, but due to the poor quality of the mains we decided not to. Overall we were really looking forward to a long due date night, but the food wasn’t up to standards and we won’t be returning sadly."

"We came here for a Father 's Day lunch. No draft beers but the bottled beers we had were lovely and cold. The building is stunning a beautiful old church which was what inspired us to book here in the first place. The staff were very attentive and really friendly, and the food was lovely. We were delivered an extra dessert by accident and rather than let it go to waste, we were given it for free. We really did have a lovely time, but what marred it was the fact they they take payment by card only which for us is a huge no no. £125 for the final bill and a £10 tip was on the little plate but it was refused because we only take cards oh, but we take tips in cash . Oh no you don 't. If you don 't want our cash to pay the bill, then you don 't want our cash in a tip. We usually boycott businesses that use this discriminatory method of pushing customers towards a cashless society, but because of the occasion we didn 't make a fuss, but I doubt we shall return which is a huge shame because we really did have a lovely time in a stunning setting. I felt bad not leaving a tip because the staff were lovely but this issue of card only payments needs to be mentioned in staff meetings and addressed by the company. It is discriminatory and lost them a reasonable sized tip. Customers should have a choice how they wish to pay. Cash is legal tender and not everyone has or wants to use cards. But for this one issue, the staff would have gotten their tip and this review would have been 5* instead of 4* and we would be looking forward to another booking."

"Hello, I came to Zizzis yesterday evening with my work colleagues as our Christmas meal. I called beforehand and the woman I spoke to was very helpful confirmed I could extend our booking from 8 to 12 people which I greatly appreciated. When we got there the booking could not be found, causing me stress with everyone else when in fact it was there all along and the person at the front didn’t look properly. Once we were seated we were given our waiter for the evening who unfortunately was not helpful in any way at all. We ordered two portions of olives, only one appeared. My friend ordered a meat pizza and when he came and bought it to her she asked for some extra pizza sauce to which he replied with it’s got meat on it, is that the meat you eat? (She was Indian and it just came across quite insensitive) I don’t think he smiled once during the entire 2 hours we were there He refused to engage with us, or ask if the meals were okay Trying to ask for more drinks made us feel bad as it appeared to be a very tiresome task for him to do his job Unfortunately I did not get his name as no one at Zizzis wore name badges last night. I was deeply disappointed in the service we had for our Christmas meal yesterday evening. I understand it was busy however it was a case of this one persons awful attitude that seemed to ruin our meal. Please contact me via email on [hidden email] to discuss further. Thanks Jeminie"

"Quite frankly the most unprofessional, incompetent and restaurant I 've ever had the misfortune of visiting. A clueless bunch of amateurs. I actually thought it was a wind up with Ant Dec ready to jump out any second. Arrived at 730pm, ordered drinks all fine. 15mins later waiter started taking our orders starters and mains. Then the fun began. Numerous items off the menu and the feeble excuses started about short staffed and no having the food prepared. The main course arrived at 9pm, not the starters 75minutes after we ordered! I questioned where the starters were so they took main courses away and tried again. We got free drinks as an apology then as another waiter said we didn 't order starters!? The original waiter had disappeared by this point and was never seen again. 915pm starters appeared and then my wife 's starter was stone cold in the middle. It took another 20MINUTES for hers to return warm. 955pm main courses arrived brick solid, burnt on top. They messed up my order too. It looked like they had been put in the oven to keep warm for the last hour. Horrible, inedible muck worse than a microwave meal for one. None of us could stomach it and the funny part was a sticker saying 'too hot to handle ' was placed on the dish! By this time enough was enough and we left. The manager said it was on the house as an apology good job because here was no way I was paying for that disaster. Probably about £150 worth of business lost on her part. The manager was very apologetic but it is quite easily the worst meal and the worst service I have EVER experienced. The manager 's job is simple but she failed miserably. She was clueless. The staff all looked like they were just out of school standing doing nothing. The waiter was apparently 'on loan ' from another restaurant. No excuse for being a clown though is it? Perhaps find a new career mate. AVOID AT ALL COSTS Saturday night and it was mostly empty alarm bells should rang when we walked in but that us an experience never to be forgotten."
