"My friend and I absolutely loved this restaurant! The ambiance is lovely, the food is excellent, and the staff is fantastic. I really appreciated the concept of small plates, which allows diners to sample a variety of dishes instead of sticking to just one or two. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of our waiter—either Juan or Jorge, a very common name in Spanish. If they happen to read this review, I apologize for not remembering their name; I would have written a review sooner! Overall, I highly recommend this place for dinner—you won't be disappointed!"

"We dined at a lovely restaurant located in the heart of Berwick. My wife raved about the mussels, declaring them the best she had ever tasted. I enjoyed the lamb koftas, accompanied by delicious salad and olives. For our main course, we both opted for the house-made burgers, which were of excellent quality with a choice of toppings, including haggis that added a tasty touch. The desserts were plentiful and aesthetically pleasing. While the atmosphere was relaxed, the service was a bit slow, but overall, we found the experience enjoyable with no premium brands in sight."

"We wanted to take my mother out for her birthday, but with my wife being vegan, we often struggle to find suitable options on pub menus. Additionally, we needed wheelchair access for my mother. We called the restaurant the day before and were assured that there would be vegan options and that access wouldn't be an issue. Upon arrival, we discovered that the staff had provided helpful ramps, making it much easier for my mother to move around. I want to extend a special thank you to all the staff. For those who use wheelchairs, they will find no friendlier place than this! The pub itself is beautiful, clean, and very child-friendly. There’s a lovely play area in the back that seemed to be quite popular. We were welcomed into the green room where a table was set up for us. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. We later learned that Julian, who took great care of us, was the manager. He was fantastic, even under pressure. Now, let’s talk about the food. This is classic British pub fare – not gourmet, but better for it and definitely a great value. My wife had the Monmouthshire baked dish and said it was absolutely delicious. I had stuffed red peppers that were spicy and packed with tasty ingredients like cashews and breadcrumbs, all served with thick chips that I usually don't enjoy, but these were perfect. My mother had a lamb dinner with Yorkshire pudding. We all agreed the portions were generous and each meal was thoroughly enjoyable. Just a little secret: we couldn’t resist dessert and ended up ordering the sticky toffee sponge pudding with custard, which we three thoroughly enjoyed. So thank you all – my mother had a lovely day, and we will definitely be returning soon. I highly recommend calling ahead. The level of service and friendliness was unmatched. They went above and beyond, with the chef accommodating my wife’s vegan needs, so a big thank you to the chef as well. I would recommend this place to anyone. Give them a call and go check it out!""

"We went to this restaurant for brunch on Sunday. Unfortunately, we only managed to get a table at 1:30pm, when brunch was about to end at 3:00pm. As a result, there were very few options left to choose from. The selection was quite limited, especially for breakfast items. The potatoes were almost gone, and there were no more muffins or potato buffers available. The advertisement mentioned that there would be meat and fish options for brunch, but the only meat available was pork trunks and small roast pieces. The only fish option was salmon to be eaten with bread. The sausages looked like they had been sitting out for a while. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant for brunch."

"I was super excited to come here to celebrate my birthday with my partner, but I really wish I went somewhere else than waste my time and money coming here. We booked a table for half 8 over a week beforehand, and arrived at 8:25 to be told it would be a 15 minute wait. It was extremely busy so I wasn’t too bothered and was more than happy to wait at a small table by the window with a drink whilst we waited. Half an hour later, we were still waiting and finally was told by a very snotty member of staff (I think she was a supervisor) we would be seated soon at 9pm. It’s worth mentioning as well that we had to wait 15 minutes for a Desperado and a coke (which they did in the end knock odd the bill for the wait). And the coke came in a filthy glass which we had to send back and wait for it to be replaced. At 9:10, we were FINALLY seated at our very sticky and wonky table. We were pleased that our order was taken fairly quickly with the startera on our table (delivered by the snotty girl who seemed to have a problem with us even though we had waited forever for our table) within 10 minutes and it was very tasty. I had popcorn shrimp whilst my partner had the bbq wings. Unfortunately I can’t say the same for the main course. My boyfriends bacon burger looked like it had been tossed together and my rib eye stake was really fatty and a medium rather than medium rare and was absolutely not worth £22!! Not to mention it was cold, I was so disappointed as I had heard great things!! I really wouldn’t encourage any of my friends and family to come here as I feel like it seriously isn’t worth the money. I wish we had left and gone elsewhere when the half an hour mark had gone by as I have left feeling really unsatisfied. Maybe they were having a bad evening as it was super busy, but a little bit of kindness shown for the staff would have made up for that but we didn’t even receive that."

"I chose Sambucas to celebrate my granddaughter's 3rd birthday. There were seven of us, and we ordered four different appetizers and seven distinct main courses. All the starters arrived at the same time, and they were delicious, served piping hot, and in generous portions. The main courses were just as impressive. The homemade chips and seasonal vegetables were also tasty, hot, and plentiful. I highly recommend this restaurant! Also, keep in mind that there are additional daily starters and main courses that aren’t listed on the online menu, so there’s truly something for everyone."

"We visited the Lantern restaurant on a Saturday night a couple of weeks ago and had a fantastic meal and wonderful experience. We loved the original decor the Lantern boasts and we found out that it has been in the same family for nearly 60 years! The way in which guests are welcomed and the pride and care taken in the food served, you can really tell it's a family run establishment. For our meal, we opted to start with the calamari and garlic mushrooms. Both of these were delicious, but we loved the mushrooms so much we had to order another portion! We then had a Porterhouse steak each, which were cooked to perfection. Alongside these we ordered the fries, onion rings and pepper sauce, which for us, were the ideal accompaniments. After these first two courses we were too full to try any of the desserts, but we imagine the options are just as tasty as everything else on the menu. Despite it being a very busy night, we couldn't fault the service we received. The servers were very attentive and ensured we were well looked after all evening they really made us feel at home. We can't recommend the Lantern enough. Everyone should experience this hidden gem at least once. We'll certainly be back when we're next in the area!"

"We stayed at The Trawden Arms for a few days when we were attending a wedding in Trawden. Jamie and his team are amazing, great hospitality and such a friendly atmosphere. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and are really well furnished with everything you need. The public bar has great beer and staff. I can't say enough good things about this place. Thanks to all who made us welcome and made our stay so pleasant. Noteworthy details: Highly recommended."

"I’ve walked passed this restaurant many times on the way to work and wondered what it was like. Decided to visit in an evening as was staying close to it. So glad I did. The welcome was wonderful. There were groups eating and clearly enjoying their evening. The menu had a good choice and when the food came it was superbly cooked, hot and very nicely presented. The team are eager to please and know about service. The open kitchen allows you to see the trainee chefs and experienced ones at work. The team spirit was excellent. Full marks and this definitely goes towards the top of my restaurant list. Will most certainly return."

"Visited Toby in Thanet a fair few times over the year's and it's very hit and miss if you get a good one. Went yesterday with my daughter and granddaughter, the lady in front asked if there was more stuffing as the one on show was dry, so he took the lid off the one behind which was just as bad, 3 trays of very dry looking roast potatoes and veg not looking better! The beef was so fatty and inedible, my granddaughter had 3 sausages instead of meat, 1 roast potatoes, some green beans £6 odd! I told the waitress the food was cold, I mean cold, she said she would let them know,, but over the time we was there she went no where near the kitchen. There is never a temperature check in all the times I've been, worse thing I noticed some of the roast potatoes had gravy on them, do they reuse them off of customers plates? They spent alot of money on a refurb, shame they don't invest in kitchen training. We all ate it, and I paid the £42 bill but that's it, enough chances, not going back"

"We attended Borsalino for a belated Christmas family lunch. The food was superb and the staff were lovely and attentive. We've already decided we'll be coming back to try more things from the menu. Probably the best Italian I've had in the Aberdeen area. Also to note, I am a coeliac and the gluten free pizza base is the best I've had in the 7 years of being diagnosed. A proper GF homemade base, which tasted delicious and just like the real thing. No issues after the meal which means no cross contamination either a coeliac's dream! Thank you so much Borsalino, your service is exquisite!"

"We have been here for lunch before and enjoyed it usually something simple like soup and a sandwich but always happy enough. Today I decided on the 'salad platter ' as it was such a hot day, a square plate with a few slices of chicken (nice and plentiful enough) but the salad consisted of a pile of iceberg lettuce strips with a few bits of diced cucumber and 2 cherry tomatoes halved with a dressing over it. The only thing I had specified apart from the chicken was that I didn 't want raw onion. I would have liked peppers, carrots, coleslaw/potato salad, maybe a boiled egg but there was nothing else. The only difference between mine and the side salad on the other plates was that i had a bigger pile of lettuce. When my mum went up to pay she was asked if everything was all right and said fine but the salad was a bit bare no reply. The only reason I gave 3 stars rather than less is that we have enjoyed previous visits."

"Unfortunately the service did not manage to fulfill the request for another side dish that cannot make the kitchen very inflexible. The waitress did her job, but nothing more. The times before I was actually always satisfied, but now I won't go back and look for other alternatives"

"Parking was convenient, with plenty of spaces available on the long street nearby. It’s also very kid-friendly, as there are always plenty of children around, and the staff makes everyone feel welcome. The venue has wide double doors, making it accessible for wheelchair users. I dined in for lunch, and the service was excellent. The average price per person was around £20–30. Highly recommended!"

"Very disappointed last night. Went for the seafood platter which was £19 Plate was cold and food Luke warm. The whole whiting was unseasoned and undercooked. Couldn't eat that. Scallops tasteless and unseasoned. 2 large prawn tasted like a precooked warmed up one. Little pot...of mussels was ok but cold. 3 little calamari rings with soggy coating. Garlic bread was a part baked roll which was underdone. When I complained the waitress who was very sweet said they had burnt our first bread so probably our food sat around until they baked another one and didn't wait long enough for it to be cooked. I think the chips would have been nice if they had come freshly out of the fryer. The Chardonnay was delicious. All in all dreadful. The waitress was apologetic and offered to knock off some money but I said no because I wanted them to know we didn't complain to get money off. Will not go there again. Wish I had read the last reviewers review about tasteless food. I would not have gone."

"Unfortunately, it wasn't so good this time. The cordon blue would be served on an almost empty plate and the salad side was, I think, from yesterday. And when clearing up it was also quick, not even properly swallowed my food, and my plate was already my plate Weck! The waiter looked stressful, which is not good for the customers. We'll come again. Let's see. And please don't make a distinction between when Germans or tourists order a table"

"Visiting grandchildren in cleveleys I had some time free and went to the oldest pub in Fleetwood, the Steamer. My Grandad must have gone there decades ago when he was a trawler captain. Lively karaoke in the bar. And a nice. Separate restaurant Staff were very welcoming and friendly, service was excellent and the food was great, really lovely. During the meal I was surprised by the restaurants owner, Syd Little, appearing and making a point of talking to everyone. When Syd realised I was from Bristol we had a chat about Eddie, and wishing him very good health. Lovely to meet and chat to someone who entertained and gave me so much pleasure over many years, and the food was lovely. I’d recommend the restaurant to anyone living in or visiting Fleetwood"

"It's always a pleasure to spend an evening at Ottenthal. The dishes are consistently delicious and presented beautifully with a creative touch. The service is warm, attentive, and hospitable in every sense. Make sure to save room for the Kaiserschmarrn, it's absolutely divine."

"Second visit and both times the food has really been excellent, above gastro pub standard. First visit I tried the surf and turf, the steak was done just as requested and melted in the mouth, really good steak. Second visit and tried the fish and chips, the haddock , very tasty and the batter crispy, done just right. Dessert was a cheesecake, home made and delicious with cream. Service was superb both times. The meals looked great on the plate. Well presented and tasted as good. The style is a higher level than just pub grub with simple tables, it is all nicely set out, tables where you feel you can have a nice cosy meal. So to the only negative. At a table near by, a guest, who appeared to be a friend or relative of one of the staff, a chef I think, decided to have a loud video call at their table for about 10 to 15 minutes, could hear every word as did half the place, which wasn’t in keeping with the restaurant we think they are selling it as. The call was disturbed by their food arriving, that seemed the only thing that stopped it, the staff didn’t say anything. Thank heaven for the food and at last back to normal and the ambiance returned. It won’t put us off but that wasn’t in keeping with what the restaurant is sold as. Great food, great service, definite for another visit, hence the 5 stars."
