Never had a bad meal here. Best to book and keep coming back and working your way through the fantastic menu. Keep it up. Lovely friendly staff too

Yet another top notch Sunday Dinner. Spot on everytime we go. Had a few things from the menu before tho always nice. Tried dessert this time too. Apple Berry crumble sponge pudding with syrup both with custard 10/10

Honestly cannot fault this place. I’ve been quite a considerable amount of times too!! The food is always top quality, so delicious and many options to chose from with a range of vegetarian and vegan options. The service is also always outstanding, they’re such a good team. Went on Saturday afternoon, a party of four for a late lunch. From entering to leaving, we were made welcome from their excellent staff. The food choices are plentiful, with excellent array of food. The portions are large, and very tasty. Excellent service throughout. This is our third visit, and we will certainly go back. Well done to everybody at the Railway.

Called in for some lunch and was so disappointed. The food was just awful, so unappealing to the eye as well. It was like slop on a plate, no seasoning and everything seems to be covered in cooking oil. I hardly ate anything and my stomach was so bloated due to the amount of oil that was on the food. Drinks were good and the place is spotlessly clean but unfortunately the food is disgusting.

Booked ahead as there were nine of us eating. We got there 10 minutes early, but our table was ready and it wasn’t a problem. The food was delicious, with generous portions and pretty good value for money, taking into account the recent all round price rises. Special mention to Leanne who looked after us while we were there she made us feel welcome and was just how you’d want a waitress to be. View menu

Disappointing experience today. Have been many times and always been good. We ordered lasagne which was only ok, nothing great, but the chips were awful. Dark brown, greasy and not even chips, just bits of potato. A complaint was made to 2 members of staff who weren't bothered in the slightest. No apology, no offer of an exchange, no interest in putting it right. At £15.95 for each meal, I expected better.

Called with my wife just in time for”early bird” meal just before 5.00 Welcomed to lovely table even though we hadn’t booked and there were quite a few reserved tables some for larger parties. We had our mains and desserts from the board which were just perfect Service was first class This is our “local” from Birkenshaw and as I said to my wife “ why do we bother going elsewhere when dining out? This inn is the benchmark to measure others against and how so many fail to meet this standard

Second visit and both times the food has really been excellent, above gastro pub standard. First visit I tried the surf and turf, the steak was done just as requested and melted in the mouth, really good steak. Second visit and tried the fish and chips, the haddock , very tasty and the batter crispy, done just right. Dessert was a cheesecake, home made and delicious with cream. Service was superb both times. The meals looked great on the plate. Well presented and tasted as good. The style is a higher level than just pub grub with simple tables, it is all nicely set out, tables where you feel you can have a nice cosy meal. So to the only negative.
