"We had one of the most delicious dining experiences we have ever enjoyed. The chef, Charles Smith, is truly a cuisine genius. Everyone of the courses in the tasting menu was a trbute to his creativity and subtle mixture of ingredients. We could not believe his sophistication at the age of 29 and we wish him a wonderful future career. Separately I’d like to address the initial welcome and bar experience which was not pleasant. When you enter the front door there is no apparent reception area; there is no one to greet or guide you. No one asked for our name or what kind of dinner reservation we had made. We stumbled around a few narrow hallways guided by sounds of conversation until we found the bar. The solo bartender was harried and overwhelmed and bar seating area completely filled. We were told to walk down the hall to another lounge where we enjoyed our cocktails. This was shared with another couple who were dressed in sloppy jeans and tshirts while we were attired in jackets for the men and dresses for the ladies. This initial lack of welcome and hospitality typified both times we have eaten at LOM in 2017 and 2019. We would recommend that the 2 different dining experiences be separated physically from the beginning of the evening starting with the greeting, bar drinks, and continuing through dinner. The disconnect in hospitality and service should be easily addressed and improved."

"Meeting friends here for Sunday lunch this afternoon, we 've all come away slightly disappointed by our choice. The Black Horse is immaculate, having clearly had a decent budget spent on interior decoration and furnishings, with a cherishing of its connections to nearby Pinewood the walls are festooned with black and white photos of famous film stars and directors who have been past customers. At the same time, the bathrooms are labelled stable boys and stable girls , playing on the obvious coach house traditions from a pub at a crossroads. All very nice, as were the lovely staff who greeted us as we arrived and brought us our food. But that 's where the problem lay. All of the niceties failed to disguise the fact that our food was really very disappointing. Five had opted for the roast beef, all agreeing that the beef was very well done, with rock hard Yorkshire puddings and soggy broccoli. I 'd opted for bangers and mash, to be presented with a small mound of mash, three sausages and a large bowl of peas. The mash was really quite inadequate a portion, certainly in relation to the peas portion. As we were amongst the first of the day (1245 for 1), this disappointing food offer seemed hard to explain there was no rush to handle. We were at least ten minutes into the meal before being asked if all was well some of our party would have complained if we 'd had time to accept a second run at the meal, but we didn 't. So, with a bill of £73 for four adults and three kids, only one kid seemed happy with her meal, while everyone else left a little less than impressed. Definitely, it could have been better."

"A few weeks ago, my husband and I decided to stop by the restaurant at the hotel before heading to the Royal Albert Hall. We arrived early for our reservation so we went to the bar across the restaurant for some pre-dinner drinks. The staff...there was lovely, very attentive and the cocktails were superb. We thought we were in for a great night, but when we moved to the restaurant, it was a disaster. First we didn't got our drinks served for ages, with the waiters not understanding or even being able to explain anything at all. On top of that, they were the total opposite from the bar staff, very rude and chatting with themselves instead of attending the tables, making not only us, but other clients irritated aswell. When the food finally arrived it was actually quite good, but we felt uncomfortable beacuse we felt rushed to finish and go, like they where desperate to finish the service. We tried to understand that maybe they were in a difficult situation or understaffed, so when my husband asked for the restaurant manager to explain the situation, he was very rude, not paying attention at all, like he didn't care. He brought us the check quickly and threw it on the table. It's a shame that we got that treatment. I remember going to this restaurants or years ago, and the services was extraordinary. I hope they can bring it back to what it was. For now I'll just get food at the cocktail back if I ever go back."
