"Food was delicious, great place to sit outside in the sun. Sadly, the waiting/bar staff and managers were awful. I rung ahead on a Sunday to see if they had availability for 3 for late lunch, they wouldn’t tell me yes or no, we went to see if we could be seated in the bar/outside anyway. Again the waitress didn’t give us a clear answer, barely acknowledged us, even though over half the tables were unoccupied. We went to the bar to order our food, once ordered we realised they had charged us about £2 extra per burger.. on returning to the bar to query I was told it was a discretionary service charge, which is automatically put on. I think this is outrageous considering we sat ourselves, got our own drinks, ordered our own food, and had to get our own cutlery and condiments. I have worked in pubs for years and have NEVER done this or experienced this. One of the first things we saw when we walked in were staff sitting on a high table at the front of the pub cleaning cutlery, in full view of everyone. Obviously there was some controversy over them doing so between two managers as one manager in front of myself and many others at the bar made it clear she was fine with them sitting there and the other manager wasn’t (which he was right to think). Staff hovering around, not acknowledging customers standing at the bar, not cleaning tables, barely even communicating when asked a question by a customer. I did not see one staff member smile. This pub has so much potential, it’s such a shame. One female manager in particular was incredibly unfriendly and unapproachable. Not what you expect in a such a lovely area. Price per person: £20–30"

"My friends and I went to have dinner at Chaophraya today, 6:15 was our reservation time, however upon arrival we were escorted to our table. We sat down and asked us if we wanted some water, which was nice and we said yes. It literally took over 15 minutes for the water to arrive at our table. We had to ask for our water. Now it’s nearly 30 minutes sat down with no one asking us if we want to order drinks or food, of which we then asked the waiter to order drinks. I mean upon ordering our food I expressed a number of times to the waiter I believe he is called Marco that I have a serious peanut allergy. I asked if I could have my food without any peanuts he said that’s fine…. Well after waiting so long for our starters it eventually comes to our table and the waiter places our plates in front so us. My first thought was how come he is not reassuring me that my plate has no peanuts. I had to ask the guy if mine has no peanuts he didn’t say anything but just take my plate and walk away of which in that moment I knew my starter has peanuts. If I had not asked if my plate had peanuts and I just ate the food I would have been in a serious state right now and my peanut allergy is extremely serious. I was annoyed at the fact that he didn’t apologise or explain to me the mistake that happened, I felt like I wasn’t acknowledged at all. I asked to speak to the manager of which he said he won’t bill me for my meal, I still felt upset with the way things went about. The whole service was a let down, from the drinks and food coming late to the whole peanuts issue, I was extremely disappointed by the service and I’m still shaken by the whole thing cause if I ate my starter I would have been in a serious situation between life and death."

"This was the worst restaurant that I experienced in London. The food quality was terrible and the service was more terrible. The restaurant staff brought me another drink that I did not order. I told him to bring the correct drink that I ordered and repeated the drink's name clearly but very surprisingly he kept insisting it is the same one. I am not sure whether it is due to his mere ignorance or trying to avoid his mistake in receiving guest's order wrongfully or an act of deliberately selling expensive drinks to customer but it would be definitely one from the three reasons. If the drink I ordered was out of stock, they should have told me frankly. The drink he gave me was a little more expensive than I ordered. It was definitely an abnormal situation but I generously forgave him for his mistake and had the drink because I did not want to ruin pleasant mood during trip. The main dish was served later, but regretfully the food was too greasy and salty to eat. I imagined the food that I enjoyed in other restaurant before and ordered the same food and expected similar level of good taste but could not enjoy it in this restaurant. The food tasted so bad. I wasted money here but did not want to waste my valuable time further and stopped eating the terrible food and left this awful restaurant as soon as possible for finding normal and better one. I do not recommend this terrible place."

"We had a mixed visit this time. Myself and my daughter come here when we can. We had two slight negative situations happen. I get them out the way first. I have a fish allergy, so as always the manager came to take my order however another staff member had taken my daughters order. We both ordered the same Chicken gyoza and ginger +chicken udon noodles. My daughter 's food came first and my came a bit later. (This is normal practice especially as the chef has to clean everything to cook my food! As my daughter started to eat she noticed her Udon meal had a shrimp in it. (There are 2 Udon noodle meals on the menu, one with chicken and shrimp the other with just chicken The manager came over and took the meal away and got the chef to cook another Udon meal. Not the best, however the situation was handled well by the manager. The second negative was more of a technical one. When you get seated you get told your table number and shown a QR code which takes you to an app to pay.So to you don 't have to wait to catch a staff member. At the end, I went to pay and entered my table No but someone 's else 's food order came up. I tried a couple of times but in the end we had to get a staff member so we could pay. No idea what happened there! Now the positives. Waga:s is our favourite Dad+daughter day out. We love the food and love the O2 venu. The food (when it 's right is the best and comes freshly cooked. The Gyoza 's are our go to 'starter ' with the Udon noodle Ginger chicken as a main. It didn 't disappoint this time. So fresh and piping hot. The female manager (sorry, didn 't catch your name was a delight and extremely polite. Even when I started waffling on about my fish allergy the female manager was polite and attentive. The other members of staff who served us were also polite. All in all a good lunch even with the slight hiccups. The four stars is because of the order mix up!"

"We went to Civerinos last week to tuck into a slice of Italy and to have a chat with Michele the owner on why this Italian has been getting rave reviews all over the internet and is hit with the locals. Civerino’s is located just off the Royal Mile near the Tron Kirk in Hunter Square and serves a fanatastic selection of family recipes handed down through Michele’s family, Italian street food and of course Pizza by the slice or whole. In contrast to the overpriced restaurants offering, as a general rule, fairly low quality food, Civerinos is the real deal and very competitively priced. The beautiful glass door way opens into a minimalist style canteen with long tables and an open kitchen where the smell of food drifts tantalizingly from. The staff are super welcoming giving a real easy going family feel to the place. The owner Michele is often sat at the bar and came to talk to us about his plans for the restaurant and the upcoming Festival season. It is easy to see why the food at Civerino’s is so good when you meet Michele. His enthusiasm and passion for Italian food and the business is inspiring and infectious! He is so excited by the fresh produce, especially after a recent trip with the kitchen team to source new products and try out new ideas resulting in some fabulous new gorgonzola croquettes, Italian salamis and porcini mushroom sauce to mention a few of the tasty new treats. He certainly loves his food and takes pride in his family’s heritage. Civerino’s is an expression of this passion great food from the heart; timeless, classic recipes using exceptional fresh ingredients that would last forever. A long term Edinburgh resident and foodie Michele loves eating at many of the local establishments and is very complementary about many of his neighbours including fellow street food success Ting Thai Caravan where he loves to go for his dinner and Ninja buns, who are now providing the food at Paradise Palms. With the restaurant’s first festival season approaching fast they are keen to ensure they still manage to save some space for their regular followers and will be saving a table at the back just for those who have booked before, they will also be open late so you can head over after your shift too. Seating outside should help them to catch the eye of the passing traffic as will their new Gelato bike set to appear very soon! On to the food – having tried the fabulous pizzas on a different occasion we decided to embark on trying out the rest of the menu. Mix and match home made pasta varieties and sauces featuring pig cheek carbonara and slow cooked beef ragu are sure to be a crowd pleaser and there are some really exciting antipasti dishes if you can draw your gaze away from the pizza menu that is. We decided on the parsley and chilli calamari, beef meatballs in mushroom sugo, Steak tagliata with wild rocket salad and Zuccini fritti. The food is served on sharing style boards with individual paper plates, so you can get stuck in and help your self in unpretentious communal dining style. We were very impressed with all our dishes, light crispy battered zucchini was really tasty, well cooked steak with roast tomatoes and rocket was the stuff of dreams believe me, and of course crispy calamari with aioli was just about perfect, but the rich tasty porcini sauce with the meatballs was a stand out winner at our table. We were dipping everything in it! The wine and beers are all really well priced and they have a frozen cocktail too! Featuring popular Italian favorites including Negroni and Aperol Spritz. Desserts are also pretty awesome we were recommended to try the Tiramisu but didn’t have space after our feast so it will have to be saved for our next visit. I am so pleased to have discovered this exciting gem of a restaurant right in the centre of all the festival action and cant wait to go back for more. Especially for their late night pizza and great music on until the early hours throughout the summer of Edinburgh’s festivals, and the terrace set in Hunter Square where you can sit and watch the crazy world of the Royal Mile go by!"
