"Visited today for ‘Brunch’. Ex US resident so always up for a decent American experience. Diner was half full and admitted straight away. The theming of the diner is excellent, maybe trying a little too hard, but in a fun way. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food this is where things fall down a little. After order we had to wait 35moms for it to arrive. A long time. Had they been packed that might have been acceptable, but half full it was too long. I ordered Cowboy pancakes which promised a ‘stack’ of pancakes but needed up being 3, with 5 blueberries, the smallest pot of maple syrup I’ve seen and a couple of rashers of bacon. The pancakes were not fresh made I suspect they are store bought? It was tasty but just not as good as it should have been. Overall not a great ‘American’ breakfast. Also had a smoothies which was fine but not worth £5.50. Partner had a cooked breakfast which was a little better, but had the bottomless coffee which actually became a little annoying as it meant stopping the waitress every 10 mins to get a refill. Either they need to give you a pot of coffee from the start or make sure they are coming around every 5 mins to refill. Certainly in any American diner in the US, you wouldn’t have to be asking for constant refills. Overall price was £30 which is an OK price for 2 people. However I also feel it should have been better food. Would only return in certain circumstances."

"We wish we had visited this restaurant earlier in our holiday and will definitely make it our go-to spot for future vacations! We had walked past this place many times over the years without ever going in, but during this holiday we saw a sign for Wood Fired Pizzas and decided to give it a try. We received a lovely warm welcome from Sylvia, who seated us by a window with a beautiful view of the sea. The service was excellent and our pizzas were delicious. Sylvia even let me sample the Annings cider before I ordered, which ended up being my favorite drink for the whole holiday. The atmosphere and decor were much nicer than it appeared from the outside. We booked a table for another evening and were thrilled to be seated by the window again as we had requested. Sylvia welcomed us back and recommended the Pork Schnitzel, which was also delicious. Reg (I believe, based on the receipt) provided excellent service as well. The entire staff was very attentive. The desserts were also delicious. They have tables outside on the veranda, where many people were enjoying the nice weather. The restaurant is dog-friendly, which led us to strike up conversations with other diners while petting their dogs. The restaurant and toilets were clean. We enjoyed a few drinks after our meal each time because we loved the atmosphere. Thank you to Sylvia and the staff for the fantastic food and service. We hope to visit again on future holidays! - Julie and Dave"

"My granddaughter and I were travelling up to Gt Yarmouth last Friday 22/4/22 from Oxford so Caxton Gibbet makes and ideal place to stop. We normally use McDonalds but on this occasion decided to have a pizza instead having previously seen Perfect Meals. Of course I expected to pay a little extra for pizza but I have to say this was well worth it. For 2 x 10 pizzas, 4 garlic breads, a cup of tea and a tin of coke was just under £25 if I remember rightly. I explained my allergy to poultry so swapped this for a meat option. The waiting time for a freshly prepared and cooked pizza was about 10 15 minutes which was I consider acceptable. I found the staff both friendly and polite and honest. To explain the last point on leaving I left by mistake a £1 coin on the seat, the man who had served us picked it up and gave it straight back to me, I in turn put it and some more change in their tips tin.I have to say it was one of the best pizzas I have had in a long time. I think next time we might have 8 as 10 was a little too big for both of us and a doggy bag was asked for and supplied. We make frequent trips up to GtY either taking or bringing back the in laws so will definately be calling in there again. In conclusion I would commend this restaurant to anyone wanting something better than McDonalds. Thank you for maiing our break an enjoyable one.Kevin and Ruby StevensOxford"

"During my visit to Edinburgh, I had the pleasure of spending St Patrick's evening at Maggie Dicksons pub, and the experience was simply memorable. St. Patrick's Day in this historic venue is an experience that transcends all expectations, especially for us Italians, accustomed to a different way of celebrating. The atmosphere was electric, with all guests completely immersed in the moment singing their hearts out along with the live singer, toasting with plenty of beer and enjoying each other's company. The thing that struck me most was the total absence of cell phones; no one was distracted posting on social media, everyone was there to truly experience the party and socialise, a true return to the essence of fun. The venue itself is a jewel: spacious and welcoming, despite the large influx of people. It offers a vast selection of beers, including the ever present Guinness, perfect for the occasion. The toilets also deserve a mention for their comfort and cleanliness, despite the evening being exceptionally busy. Another pleasant surprise was the broadcast of the football matches, that evening in particular Inter vs Napoli, which added a touch of familiarity in such a festive context. I highly recommend Maggie Dicksons to anyone looking for an authentic and immersive experience in the heart of Edinburgh. It's more than just a pub; it is a place where the local culture is expressed at its best, allowing anyone to feel part of a festive and welcoming community."
