"This is our 13th year coming to holt for new year and have visited feathers every year. Some years even going to the New Year’s Eve party. Since this fine pub has been taken over we have seen numerous changes that haven’t been for the better but have just let them go. However upon visiting this year with the family for a meal, I just had to leave a review about my utter distaste for out and out profiteering. There were 5 adults and 3 kids all having meals and drinks. No starters just mains and we had four deserts. We had a few drinks of which the prices are rather high for a village pub. The meals were ok but as other people have stated in reviews pretty basic for the price. When the bill came it was in excess of £330, which I was shocked at but not overly, but upon review I’d noticed they had charged £2.40 for a cordial with tap water! I thought this was wrong so questioned the waiter. He then got the manager who in turn stated this in fact was correct and couldn’t do anything about it! Why didn’t she just knock it off the bill as a good will gesture as surely she could see how wrong this was and how much we were paying.I’m sorry feathers management but the charge for the cordial is totally immoral and a complete rip off! You’re charging £2.40 for one measure of cordial which is more than the actual value of a bottle. This whole event was a shame and should have been sorted by an efficient manager but it wasn’t and has left a massive distaste in our mouth."

"I would like to start my review on my first time at the Crown in the greeting when we first arrived was good evening sir and madam this was from the manager who wore a suit with shirt and tie, shown to our table...introduced to our waitress for the evening who was well presented in a smart white blouse and black skirt, the food was top notch and the service was excellent. Now let's review my last visit in the greeting hi guys can I get you some drinks we looked at the menu and ordered our food from our table server who was in a creased polo shirt black Jean's and white trainers, my wife wanted the chicken ceasar salad but asked for the anchovies to be left out, food arrived well presented but the ceasar salad had no dressing on it so we asked for the dressing but apparently the dressing is with the anchovies so if you remove the anchovies you lose the dressing, being from a catering background I found this to accept but was told no separate dressing now what sort of kitchen does not have any kind of dressing I will tell you it's the crown st Blandford, my side dish of broccoli with cheese and garlic was missed off so arrived late, when you read on a menu broccoli with cheese and garlic I would expect it to be like a cauliflower cheese but no it's just broccoli with with some parmesan shaken on it. What did surprise me is that the manager was in Jean's and an opened neck shirt, this casual look obviously reflects on the casual way the staff work. The Crown used to be the flagship of the brewery but alas this is not the case now."

"you could not find this place if you did not literally stumble over him what I did (not fear that I did not hurt myself). its external presence is a menu display behind glass on an adjacent wall and a door that leads to some fenced steps. with a little contempt, on the stairs I went to a more attractive prospect and a hostess desk. the sign seemed to show that there were only members and those who expropriated to enter with inappropriate dress. since it turns out that the Membership was not necessary and despite my rather shady appearance I was allowed to enter; the hostess offers a bright smile and shows even more steps. I later inquired and was told that there are elevators (lifts) for those who cannot navigate these obstacles. on the next level is a pleasant looking lounge area before a second host seemed to sit at my table. the primary dining area consists of a well illuminated bright room with high ceilings, framed by a window wall on one side and an illuminated translucent marble rail on the other side. beautiful chandeliers decorate the deck. each table had its own wine-cooling eimet and chairs, which for the largest part of well-respected elegance went down to the-in-the-Heels-Dach-Schaby. yet this is look and the feeling elegant and impressive. somewhat formal, but inviting at the same time. my server, leah took care of me during my meal, made apropos suggestions, serve and clearing accordingly in a wise that encouraged the eating and the ambiente without a hurry and always appeared with a cnuckle and a smile. I chose a meat bark bouruignon with a sweet and mixed vegetables. when I was a glenmorangie quinta ruban (American oak followed by portugiesen casks beautiful I was treated to some piping hot brot cutting at the table. steam has swirled from the slices of the tomato parmesan laaf. so rare in these days, so fresh and tasty brot are served. the house salad was extremely a very large part of koleslaw-like greens, but oh so much better than her average farewell. it was almost the highlight of the meal. the expectations were also exceeded. the bark itself was forklift with a beautiful gravure and tasty kartoffels on the side. my other supplement, mixed vegetables, was the only disappointment. the brokkoli and carrots seemed to be a reflection without spicing and not being a reason. I understand that some people prefer their healthy things au naturel, but I prefer a somewhat more fair treatment for the involuntary cousins in the grillhouse. a pizazz would be nice. I recommend the Spanish rioja red at per glass. it was a pleasure to dwell on the smooth and balanced wein when I looked at that living in an atmosphere that invited them to eat by chance alone. but really, they bring some friends. this restaurant enchants a spirit that is best enjoyed with others."
