"This is our 13th year coming to holt for new year and have visited feathers every year. Some years even going to the New Year’s Eve party. Since this fine pub has been taken over we have seen numerous changes that haven’t been for the better but have just let them go. However upon visiting this year with the family for a meal, I just had to leave a review about my utter distaste for out and out profiteering. There were 5 adults and 3 kids all having meals and drinks. No starters just mains and we had four deserts. We had a few drinks of which the prices are rather high for a village pub. The meals were ok but as other people have stated in reviews pretty basic for the price. When the bill came it was in excess of £330, which I was shocked at but not overly, but upon review I’d noticed they had charged £2.40 for a cordial with tap water! I thought this was wrong so questioned the waiter. He then got the manager who in turn stated this in fact was correct and couldn’t do anything about it! Why didn’t she just knock it off the bill as a good will gesture as surely she could see how wrong this was and how much we were paying.I’m sorry feathers management but the charge for the cordial is totally immoral and a complete rip off! You’re charging £2.40 for one measure of cordial which is more than the actual value of a bottle. This whole event was a shame and should have been sorted by an efficient manager but it wasn’t and has left a massive distaste in our mouth."

This place does not respect its staff or locals! Holt does not deserve such a poor experience for locals or visitors. Avoid!

First time back since new owners took over. Place has no soul. We were stuck round a corner away from the few people that were in there. Tissues stuffed under table legs to stop it wobbling. Waiter in a stained shirt. Food was ok but overpriced. We will not be returning

Having dined at other chestnut group restaurants, we decided to try the overnight experience in Holt. And we continue not to be disappointed. As with all their establishments the staff are all friendly, conscientious and outgoing. Overall, food great, bar atmospheric Staff excellent accommodation smart and comfortable

Very disappointing. On arrival it was very quiet, yet staff took ages to seat us. We hadn’t booked but there were dozens of empty tables. After reading the menu we left, it was very underwhelming and the children’s options were poor, £10 for tomato penne pasta! We found a fantastic Italian place near by that did children mains for less and no penne pasta in sight!

It was our the first time visiting the Feathers in Holt and i could not fault a thing. It was new years eve so it was very busy and full of life, the staff worked really hard to accommodate everyone and made us feel welcome, nothing was too much trouble for them. Food looked and tasted amazing! Music to take us into the new year was fantastic, plenty of dancers up on the floor! So a massive thank u to all the management and staff who worked last night and we will defiantly visit again. View menu

We had lunch on New Year’s Day at The Feathers and it was excellent. The pub itself is decorated really nicely and it is dog friendly. We found the service to be really great, I didn’t catch our waiters name but he was brilliant and we felt well looked after. We also had a lovely conversation with one of the waiters that was originally from Essex (where we live! and found all of the staff to be so friendly and helpful. The food itself was delicious, the gammon and chips, steak and beef bourguignon were enjoyed by all of us and the orange and vanilla creme brulee was amazing! Thank you very much for such a lovely meal and excellent service. I would highly recommend this pub!

Avoid this place if you want to go out for a few drinks and want to sit down. No tables available. Staff wouldn't allow us to sit at any vacant tables as they were apparently all booked prior. The huge restaurant area was entirely empty. We said we wanted to only sit down for 15 mins but they still said no tables were available. So we went and spoke to another member of staff about sitting in another area but again took a real fight just to allow us to sit at a table for 15 mins. He didn't even want to let me pull 2 extra chairs around the table. Don't ask for ice either in your glass, it will be like you are asking for the world! Very much changed since last visit to this pub.
