"From the outside, the restaurant may seem modest (as it is located downstairs), but don't let that deceive you. Once inside, you will find a charming atmosphere and impeccable cleanliness. The standout feature, however, is the incredible food. We started with the Gobi Manchurian cauliflower, which quickly became a new favorite. For mains, we ordered the Chicken Korma and Chicken Tikka, both of which were absolutely heavenly. We were told about this restaurant by the concierge at our hotel, who mentioned that it is a popular choice among guests. The service was fantastic, and overall, it was a delightful dining experience in a lovely setting."

"Went for unannounced meal for 2 Wed 30 Dec. Arrived 6.20 and were seated nicely. Two couples were already being served at two different tables. A waiteress took our drinks order, a glass house red and a small bottle of cobra. A waiter brought these quite quickly. Later another waiter took our starter order. We were asked if we wanted poppadoms. We said we would like to order the tandoori mixed grill. The menu stated it came with one plain naan, so we looked forward to that as we like some naan bread with starters. The mixed grill arrived in good time sizzling on a bed of onions. A little too well heated hot plate as most of the onions had got burnt. However the waiter asked if we would like the naan now or with the main course. This was wrong as we now had to wait a further 4 minutes before the naan arrived when it clearly stated the naan is part of the mixed grill. The mixed grill was a bit of poor show, one sheek kebab with little flavour, one piece of lamb tikka, 2 pieces chicken tikka, one full side of marinated chicken breast. Overall it was just okay. We shared the starter. We had to obtain a waiters attention after we had finished the starter to order the main course, a karhi bhindi and a karhi chicken (with peppers and onions and tomatoes) and 2 garlic naans. We also clearly asked for two glasses of tap water no ice in both. The food arrived in good time. No water though. So we asked again. One glass of water with ice was brought. We corrected the waitress and she brought 2 glasses of water with no ice. The karhi bindi was excellent and full of flavour. The karhi chicken was just sauce, chuncks of onions and even chunkier chicken pieces, which could have been cut into smaller piecea and there was no sign of tomatoes or peppers (I presume these must have been blended intonthe sauce. Taste was good, and the food was served hot. Spice was just right for what we ordered. Another glass of wine was ordered and arrived. The bill was good, with an (discretional 10% already applied).we settled with £50. We were offered complimentary baileys, and had a chat with the manager on duty. Overall some improvements could make this a desirable restaurant."

"The ambience is quite nice and it bestows a palatial vibe as you enter the restaurant. Cultural icons like the Guruvayoor elephant figurine, Kathakalli portrait hints about Keralan cuisine. The menu looks comprehensive but compared to an average Indian Udupi restaurant, it's like a foot note. That's the case with most Indian restaurants in the UK. The food itself is fine for the price, the textures were on point. However, what it lacked was authenticity. The potato filling in the Masala Dosa was a mish mash of all veggies, despite the flavourful tempering. The Chinese fried rice lacked flavour and requires some exposure to the Indo Chinese methods in general. Overall, a decent experience but don't let the grand ambience raise your expectations through the tall roof. Truly can't fault the price either. "I went to the pub at the end of November with some friends, and all of us (around 10 people) ordered food. Most of the dishes took over 30 minutes to arrive and were cold. When we asked the manager why there was such a long wait for cold food, he was very rude and we had to argue with him to have our meals remade. The second attempt at preparing the food was better, but some of the starters like the onion rings and popcorn chicken were soggy. We decided not to complain again to the manager and just left. It's unfortunate because the pub has a nice atmosphere, but it is poorly managed and some of the dishes are not well-prepared."

"let me begin by thanking michael and his superpowers and calling andrea for their excellent service. I have a dinner party for my husband special birthday and it was amazing. from the moment we arrived to enjoy our cocktails and then go to our private room for dinner would not have been more perfect. I had decided to use the 5-course cup menu, which was error-free from beginning to end. they specialize in individual nutritional needs and make it pleasant for all. some of us had the weeping flights that were the perfect choice to supplement the eating. I can't wait to go back and enjoy another meal there very soon!"

"Came on a recommendation that Sai Spice was a fabulous restaurant, much to our disappointment. Firstly, the starters were not overly impressive 6/10 The mains arrived at different times as opposed to arriving together despite a request to the waiter. Dishes: The IDLI that was ordered was soggy and arrived 15 minutes before any other mains were served. Keema was bland and tasteless, sent it back and returned with a couple of extra chillies mixed in. Same applied to the the Chinchinada and the biryani. It's fair to say that the dishes are lacking in authenticity, spice and flavour, how ironic that the name of the restaurant is called Sai Spice. If the restaurant is empty on a Saturday night then that should be indication of one thing and one thing only."

"our 18 months old twins for tee and could not really fail, this place that is around the corner of us. Eating was great and quick to arrive, all the workers were great, attentive and courteous (always helpful when they try to eat the babies! and we took the rest of the food as it was so beautiful. when we went too young, who looked like the doormen had been talking about the kids and they were really nice youngs and was a nice note."

"Why is it that we’ve lived in the area for so long, but only just found out about this place? An Indian friend recommended it, so I knew it had to be good. We’ve been to India many times, so we were hopeful that it would compare well to the ‘real thing’. We needn’t have worried because the food we had was excellent. Everything that we saw being served to other diners also looked superb. We had a different dosa each, but next time I’ll definitely be going for some of the other menu options. We finished off with a kulfi and some gulab jamun and a couple of South Indian coffees. Point to note…bookings not available. Just turn up. Will definitely be back. Soon!"

"On Saturday we drove over to Leicester which is our go to city for Indian food. Its nearly an hour from us, and again we were not disappointed. We take it in turns, with friends, a few times a year to pick our places to eat. Our friends on this occasion chose Shivalli, located just off the city centre. The staff were helpful, friendly and full of smiles. We always ask a lot of questions when it comes to ordering. We want different taste experiences, and here we got we what we wanted, with the help of the ladies who took our orders and bought our food. We always pick a selection of dishes and share everything so we all get to try each dish. We chose a selection of starters and then when finished we chose a mix of mains. Everything was great and everything was eaten. Our starters included chilli idly fries, medhu vade, channa bathura, sev papadi chat and dhai battata poor. plus what may be some of the best samosas I have eaten, and all served with a mixture of dips, pickles and sauces. For our mains we had a dosa selection including mysore paneer and a mysore masala with a spicy, potato, onion and pea filling. there were also breads a dal and an aubergine curry. The stand out dish here was the special thali, which looked and tasted divine. All in all what a great experience and would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a genuine taste of India."

"Following religious prayer on Sundays, we always head to a well-known vegetarian restaurant in Hounslow West for masala dosas. We got masala dosa after prayer today as usual, but it was very salty. When we complained to the server about the overly salty masala dosa, he did not apologise; instead, he handed us the Google review scan and instructed us to do a review. We were taken aback by his conduct, urging us to write a review despite the food being overly salty. His actions truly saddened and disappointed us. Furthermore, I informed the manager about this attitude when I paid the bill, but she didn't seem to care. Very dissatisfied with this behaviour."

"The food was excellent. The dosa was a new experience for us and we really enjoyed it. Each dish had unique flavors. Everything was served hot and portions were generous. Don't expect fancy dining here, as it is more like a casual cafe with affordable prices and service to match. Overall, it was great."

"In my honest opinion, I have been ordering from this restaurant for years as I live on the same street. I recently placed an order today after the change in ownership, and unfortunately, it is not the same as it used to be. It is not the worst, but it will never be as good as it once was. If the owners are reading this, I suggest considering giving it up and relocating. On a Saturday night, the street used to be bustling with customers, but when I visited, there was not a single person in there. Keeping it open is just a waste of money."

"Recommended by a friend, we got a takeout for a birthday treat. The food was fabulous, one of the best Indian meals I've had in a long time. Unfortunately one of our dishes was wrong, chicken instead of lamb tikka. They offered to send out another but we'd already eaten so I just asked for them to refund the difference. I didn't realise they'd drive out to give me the change! I would definitely recommend this place, 5 stars!"

"Dining Experience: Dinner Cost per Person: £10–20 Food Rating: 3/5 Service Rating: 3/5 Atmosphere Rating: 2/5 I recently dined at this restaurant for dinner, and overall, my experience was average. The pricing was reasonable, falling within the £10–20 range per person. The food was satisfactory, earning a rating of 3 out of 5; it was decent, but nothing particularly stood out. The service was also a 3 out of 5—adequate, but not particularly attentive or memorable. Unfortunately, the atmosphere left much to be desired, with a rating of just 2 out of 5. It felt a bit lacking in ambiance and energy, which detracted from the overall experience. While it was a decent meal, I likely wouldn't rush back for a repeat visit."

"Cute little corner cafe, with a cheap and diverse menu that caters to all, and with excellent service. You get value for money with the breakfast menu and it feels like something that can be easily cooked at home which is my only issue. Close to the beach and only a ten minute walk to the town centre and Brighton Pier. Definitely a nice place to sit down and have a coffee or meal to start the day."

"Lovely food, although some small starter portions. And the wait… boy oh boy, what a wait. If you don’t mind your food coming out plate by plate, with a significant wait between then this place serves great food. If you want everyone to get their food together then this is not the place for you! The restaurant need to get more front of house staff, focus on the customers in the restaurant as opposed to all the takeaway orders and deliveroo drivers and serve a complete meal together a table at a time. Then it would be an absolute fantastic place to eat."

"Sadly closed by COVID but we didn’t want to miss out when we visited Newcastle and arranged a collection. Everyone was helpful with our order which was professionally fulfilled. The menu is excellent with plenty of choice for veggies, vegans and omnivores who just fancy a change. Our starters, a seitan and a tofu dish were all good, as was our mushroom rice. All enthusiastically consumed back at our nearby hotel with a nicely chilled cava. We hope the restaurant will be open by the time we next visit Newcastle but if not we will happily take out again."
"Well as a group we all go out every month to different places and we heard papa j came highly recommended, well I recommend don’t bother, we got there we’re sat down straight away, we all had a vibe that this place was not what we heard, actually we all nearly walked out, reason it took half an hour to get the drinks, then eventually poppadoms 1 each, with the smallest Chutney dips Ever seen, Actually, we had to ask for another set of dips because they were so small that the three they bought out was just not gonna be enough for the six of us, Anyway, we eventually got to order our food. We all quite specific on what we wanted an hour later the start turns up I mean okay the starters were okay not too bad basically I had chips. I didn’t really know what to expect. They were spicy chips, (1) got this papa dish which was basically just to poppadoms with salad on and they all and all the poppadoms were soggy anyway from the salad, And the simplest starter came out last, which was just odd two poppadoms salad and even before that was eaten they started bringing out the main dishes, Well, what we ordered was definitely not what they bought out. I asked for my dish to be madras hot. I asked for chilli rice well those absolutely no spice to it whatsoever and they bought out those chilli And to bring out some more chilli rice well that wasn’t chilli rice either it was hot but not chilli hot. It was just hot hot. All the rest of the food what we ordered it all looked the same and it had no taste and no Spice absolutely awful, Service was atrocious as well. We all agreed that we weren’t gonna pay full price for this meal because it just wasn’t worth it so we asked for a discount and to be fair they gave us discount with kind of made up for the lack Luster attempts of what was sit down. So my overall rating of this pappa J Terrible Food terrible Service and I don’t recommend this. Before I left, I did tell the fellow beyond the bar, but this is by far the worst restaurant with we’ve ever ate in."

"They took 1 hour to get my order , it was really cold in there because their shop door was open , they didn't give me my right order I asked for a vanilla icecream without fruits in it and they got me 3 scoops of strawberry icecream that didn't even taste good and they said that they ran out of vanilla flavour however, the person who took my order himself suggested to me the vanilla flavour and he took £6 for 3 scoops additionally, it just said the total on my receipt so I didn't even know how much each thing cost's."
