"The food at this restaurant is excellent and reasonably priced. The staff is efficient and friendly. My only complaint is that the music is too loud for comfortable conversation. Lowering the volume would not detract from the atmosphere, I promise!"

"Service terrible was told we had come at a bad time as it was staff change over. 4.30 on a Sunday afternoon pre booked and the restaurant was dead, in fact apart from some very drunk people at the bar we were the only ones in there. Offerd 1 drink throughout our whole visit, table left uncleared, service very slow never even came to ask if our food was ok. Eaten here several times, never experienced this. Bit of a cheek to add service charge to the bill when it was so poor hence we declined to pay this charge."

"Our dinner experience at this restaurant was supposed to be a highlight of our week away during Christmas, but unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. The main issue was that upon being seated, we were informed that many menu options were no longer available. In my 40 years of dining out, I have never encountered a list of unavailable options as extensive as this. The excuse given for the limited food availability being because it was Christmas was wholly inappropriate. Despite this disappointment, the rest of the evening was satisfactory, with the food and service being decent. Overall, it was a letdown. I would recommend that the management improve their menu planning and food ordering process for the future."

"Dinner here was supposed to be one of the highlights of a week away over Christmas. Sadly did not live up to the expectation. The main reason being that as soon as we five were seated, we were given a list of menu options of what was no longer available. In 40 years I have never faced a list of missing options in any restaurant, perhaps the odd 1 or 2 options. Disappointment was compounded by the wholly inappropriate excuse that there was insufficient food because it was Christmas!! What remained of the evening was OK, food was OK and the service was good. All in all, it was a let down. Recommend that the management up their game with regards to menu planning and food ordering in the future."

"Been to the cafe today for breakfast. Checked the reviews and the website the day before that. Came in next day and were very surprised. The website is an absolute lie. The photos of the interior are totally different there, the prices on the website are 30-35% cheaper as well. Got 2 breakfasts ~9.5£ each). 2eggs/ 2p bacon/ beans/ bread/ mushrooms/ 1/2 a tomato/ 1 sausage in each breakfast. Needed extra sausage and beans for the baby and each extra is 2.25£! Paid extra 5.5£ for that. The quality of food is very average, like any other pub for ex Joiners Arms went the day before for breakfast as well) where a full English was £4.75, the portion is the same except 2sausages) and twice cheaper! Paid £30 for 2 breakfasts, 1 coffee, 1 juice and a sausage and beans for the baby. Pub will be 15£ for all the same food. Not worth the money."

"After we had to sit for more than 20 minutes, we had to go inside to ask someone to come and take our drink and food order (which is not new to the sterling, they know that it will be busy on a sunny Thursday/ Friday, why do they always seem underoccupied? . I would go so far that the staff has beaten people. drink lasted old would have been faster to go into the packed bar! I had the salmon-nicoise salad, which was nice, but for £15.50 I would expect a little more than a piece of laughs, 3 baby new kartoffels, a half boiled egg, a few green beans and cherry tomatoes. the main selling point of the sterling was that you could eat outside in the sun, so that you could previously forgive the below par service and average food, but with the scalpel now completely erected, almost all the sun has gone by 1:15. obviously this is not her fault, but does not make what was tolerable before."

"The decor and vibe of this place was the most appealing. The food an anti climax (desserts by far were the best) Starter it was supposed to be a king prawn cocktail, they said they were out of king prawns but will instead give me a huge portion of little prawns. The portion was average and starter basic therefore overpriced for what I was given. Mains crab linguine. If you like garlic then this dish is for you. The crab was flaked but barely visible and I could hardly taste it especially with the overpowering garlic. Friends had pork belly rib which was extremely tasty, full of flavour and the meat was tender Dessert the fried salted caramel ice cream special was amazing. And the pavlova was perfectly chewy and soft. Desserts a winner Price per person: £60–70 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3 Recommended dishes: Maple Glazed Pork Belly"

"Great location, tucked away in Liverpool Street. Lively bar scene, with a great outdoor area. There was an initial mix up with the booking as Open Table was listing table availability that did not match with actual availability at the venue; I would recommend calling ahead to confirm your OT booking with the restaurant itself to avoid confusion. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly despite this, working to accommodate our booking request anyway. We received prompt service throughout the evening, despite how busy it was on the Bank Holiday. Food and drinks were great quality at a fair price. Would recommend and would return."

"The set dinner menu must be the best value in London really really good food and excellent friendly service. Unfortunately it has the ambience of a motorway service station ooh that lighting is crass and the internal fit out (tables/chairs that naff central table) could be updated. I'm not just saying that because that's what my company does but I've noted that before when I've dined here. Wouldn't put me off as its quiet, I was meeting friends rather than starting into my lovers eyes, but you get where I'm coming from!"

"Attended a Festive Afternoon Tea. Everything was actually pretty good. Unfortunately service wasn't super great. No one checked on us once and waiters walked past with such speed that we struggled to flag someone down. Overall we still had a good experience though."

"During Covid, many establishments now order via app, and in the main thus works well. The Navigators app was poor. But even worse is that once ordered the drinks took minutes in the first instance, and we go a refund after minutes and left in the second instance of ordering a simple drinks round and it wasnât even that busy. They were critically understaffed which meant we were so cheesed off that we gave up. Such a shame. Both the boathouse and the jolly sailor nearby were far better experiences."

"Booked table for 5. When we arrived offered table for 4 with seat placed on end. Declined this table told proper table would be available 20 minutes later. Went for drink in the Back Bar. Returned 30 minutes later and shown to suitable table. Drinks took long time to arrive. Starters average and lacked flavour. Fries over salted and they were changed. The food is lacking in flavour and service is variable. Declined to pay service charge (which I normally do). The Menu is lacking choice and expensive. Time the for the Hard Rock upped their game."

"Here is an example of a dining room punching well above its weight and with charges to match £55 for 3 course meal . The basic food choice on the menu is good and varied 3 meats, 2 fish and a couple of vegetarian dishes but the subtext reveals it is to be doctored with other incongruous ingredients by a clever chef perhaps to justify its boast of fine dining to the highest standard or its 2 rosettes. English good quality food, well prepared should not need to be embellished or enhanced . Service was slow. Delivered almost entirely by a young waitress who could only manage one speed, a Caesar salad took over an hour to serve. She had not been taught table service and admitted knowing nothing of wine. Earlier promise by Ray or Roy to host our experience evaporated, he was seen only fleetingly. Had he been more in evidence things might have been better. And, to add to the dismal experience 12.5% was added to the bill for service? Breakfast was good and nicely presented except that the fruit salad on the menu was absent. Although the ingredients were all there on the buffet, it seems no-one had been bothered to prepare it. So, if you go here to eat, I wish you a better experience. I shall not return."

"I have recently moved to Swindon from London and was trying to find a place to take my wife for her birthday. my expectations was close to find dinning and I can assure you that Bassett down turned out to be an excellent choice. I was a little doubtful with my previous outings in Swindon as none of the restaurants you'd exactly call fine Dine. I was wrong and the whole evening was a pleasant experience and I'd already recommended to my friends and family here. We went on a Friday evening 6pm ish and the place was relatively quiet, could have been January blues. Design of the restaurant it self is contemporary. At the door greeted by a member of staff (I think his name is Dan) and was shown our reserved table. He was very attentive throughout the evening , very chatty at the end and helpful with the menu when needed. Dan is a top chap in my opinion. Food was very good, I had Lamb which melted like butter in my mouth . My partner had Sea bass, again tasted very good. Definitely try the rice fritters with peanut sauce, don't expect the calamari to be heavily coated and sticky toffee for dessert was sublime. My wife was pleasantly surprised to see her dessert with a candle on it and written Happy birthday. We had 3 course meal with a drink each and it was just over £80. Which I find it a bargain given the nature of the food, service and ambience. Parking was plentiful. All in all this was a fantastic place and I have found somewhere I could take guests when they visit Swindon, if they wanna go somewhere different to Greggs or Mcdonalds."

"We were thrilled to discover this hidden gem. The menu offered a great variety of options, all of which sounded delicious, and we were not disappointed. I started with the Crab, my husband tried the Sea Bream Ceviche, and our daughter had the Baby Veg salad - all were fantastic. For our main courses, we chose Duck, Rack of Lamb, and Pork Fillet. The flavors and textures of each dish were perfectly balanced. For dessert, we indulged in Toffee Apple Mille Feuille, Salted Caramel Tart, and Strawberry White Chocolate Cheesecake. The salted caramel was a standout - truly heavenly. The impeccable service, beautiful presentation, and relaxed atmosphere made for a fine dining experience without any pretentiousness."

"I ordered a ham mustard and sun-dried tomato bloomer. It arrived with no tomato. As the waitress had told us prior to ordering of a number of items that were not available due to no deliveries for the lock down I didn’t say anything as assumed this was the reason. When our plates were collected we were asked by another waitress if the food was ok. I made comment about the lack of tomato and how it would have been nice to have known before hand as I would have ordered something else. She went off and came back to advise she’d spoken to the chef who assured her 100% he’d put tomatoes in it. My response was I can assure you he didn’t and my friend also confirmed there was none. Again the waitress said the chef says he did, so he did. All but accusing me of lying. She was rude, unapologetic and her attitude was appalling. It was a shame as all the other staff were friendly and professional. There’s plenty of other pubs within that area . She and her attitude will certainly make me go elsewhere next time we are able to."
