"It's no secret that I love Japanese food. And even less of a secret is my fondness for a good cocktail. So put the two together and I'm a very happy girl. Koji which ticks both these boxes in Parsons Green, seems to be a bit of a secret.... I'd never heard of it until researching sake cocktails for a piece I wrote for Time Out, but when they read my piece they invited me down to sample the cocktails and food in person. I went along with Lucy the night before heading to Tresco to do a weekend of pop ups, and we had the most delicious feast of delicate yet punchy Japanese food with punchy yet delicate cocktails!Koji have an ex Nobu chef in their kitchen and you can really tell there's someone who knows what they're doing there. Every dish was exquisite, and the whole experience heightened by being in such a gorgeous setting if you want to impress a date then head straight to Koji. We started with cocktails in the elegant bar area, which is lit by huge feather covered lights. When you go to Koji (which you really should if you're anything like me about good cocktails and Japanese food) order the lemongrass and chilli martini. The perfect balance of zesty and spicy it left our lips tingling in all the right ways. We didn't get round to trying it but the watermelon martini also sounds divine. The food at Koji is Japanese, with a modern twist. The menu's divided into snacks, hot and cold tapas, robata grill and various forms of sushi and sashimi. Being the good (greedy) reviewers that we are, we tried to sample something from each section. Starting with the most wonderful soft shell crab and asparagus summer roll. Light, fresh and expertly rolled it was a great start to what turned out to be a top notch meal."

"my friend and I went to capitulate for dinner to celebrate his birthday, as was capitula, we thought the only decent restaurant in blackheath. all the others seem to be pushing down quickly. we have been in the past often in the capitulas, and the food and services were good we had no appetizers and ordered only one main meal (black foam and black bell), because we were not huge hungry because we were eating a lot of birthday cakes earlier! we had a glass of wine and were offered a piece of bread. 35 minutes later we waited for our food. in this time no one came to ask if we were in order or offer us more drinks. I asked the manager if our food was ready. he said it would be 5 minutes without a statement of delay then disappeared 10 minutes later there was no sign of food or manager. That is why we decided to go because we lost interest in eating. we have to go and the manager came by. he told us the delay was due to a big party in the ground floor. this was not the case, there was a group of 8 people who had finished their meal for a long time. we were there earlier when it was much more business and the service was not so bad. while we waited, we saw a customer who had finished their meal, slipped £20 into the manager hand when he left. Perhaps the workers need bribe to provide good services? it is such a scandal, but another blackheath restaurant has become complicit and believes that it with the treatment of its customers without respect. I will vote for one with my feet and will not eat again in this restaurant. I will also leave everyone I don't know to go there"

"My boyfriend and I went to Chapters for dinner to celebrate his birthday as Chapters was, we thought, the only decent restaurant left in Blackheath. All the others seem to be sliding downhill rapidly. We have been to Chapters many times in the past and the food and service has been good We did not have a starter and ordered a main meal only (black bream and pork belly) as we weren't hugely hungry due to eating a lot of birthday cakes earlier! We had a glass of wine and were offered a piece a of bread. minutes later we were still waiting for our food. In that time no one came to ask if we were OK or to offer us more drinks. I asked the manager when our food might be ready. He said it would be minutes without offering any explanation of the delay then disappeared minutes later there was still no sign of the food or the manager. Therefore, we decided to leave as we had completely lost any interest in eating there anymore. We got up to leave and the manager came over. He told us the delay was due to a big party downstairs. This was not the case, there was a group of people who had long finished their meal. We have been there before when it was much busier and the service was not this bad. While were waiting we saw a customer who had finished their meal slipping into the managers hand as he was leaving. Maybe the staff require bribery to give good service It such a shame yet another Blackheath restaurant has become complacent and thinks they can get away with treating their customers without any respect. I for one will be voting with my feet and will not be eating in this restaurant again. I will also be letting everyone I know not to go there"

"We booked for a birthday brunch on a Sunday for 6. The place was full and we had to wait 10 mins for the table we had booked at 11. Once seated it was another 15 mins until our order was taken. 15 mins then until our drinks arrived and another 5 until the food showed up. Clearly massively understaffed and delays were not the staff’s fault although when we asked for something some fresh boiling water for the teapot and some more maple syrup we had to remind twice until they arrived. The bill took a full 15 minutes. Why do owners put staff and customers under stress only allow booking where your staff can cope? I was minded to remove the obligatory service charge but did not want to make a scene. As we had booked for brunch, we were expecting the normal things you would find on a brunch menu. There they were on the menu .. so we ordered only to be told: no sausages, no black pudding, no avocado, no French toast and, very strangely, no fried eggs but we could have poached or scrambled eggs! The food was OK except the bacon which was flabby, fatty streaky bacon that was only just cooked and not good quality. Guests at every table had left theirs on the side of the plate. For a restaurant claiming to serve an American style brunch, this was massively underwhelming. In short, we will not return and I strongly recommend that all reading this give this place a miss. There are plenty of much better places in Notting Hill."

"Yum Yum and Yum.. I had been meaning to go here for quite some time when Cafe St Honoreès chef Neil Forbes made some food at the Edinburgh Farmers Market. I loved it. So, as apart of the Yelp Eats offer, I made my reservation here on the first day of the offer to see what it would be like. I felt as though I had gone back to paris, the mirrored walls with the lighting and decor felt like a true french cafe. As I arrived, I had no problem being brought to my table, and with theyre expectation of my arrival they knew where I would sit right away with my candle lit. The service was great, after I ordered my wine my glass never went empty. However, they didn 't seem as though they were hovering. They were also very organized with the Yelp Eats Menus and had them printed and ready to give to us. I ordered the Pumpkin Soup whilst my boyfriend ordered the Game Terrine. I was happy with my choice since as delicious as his starter was, I didn 't realize his game would be cold. Obviously I didn 't know the definition for terrine but generally when people say game I say 'yes please! ' The soup was perfect, amazing texture and so buttery and smooth. I don 't think I could have improved it in any way. For the Mains we both enjoyed the Plaice. It was a full fillet and was cooked perfectly. It was served with watercress and potatos. I was very impressed with the way the fish was cooked since the bones were still in, but you could pull the meat apart without munching on any bones (not ideal date food etiquette) but as i said, this wasnt the case! I finished with a artisan roast coffee (jennys fav!, haha) Overall the staff were fantastic, very friendly and even offered to order us a cab afterwards to get us home as we got our bill.Great evening, go here! I 'll definitely go back soon"

"We are non residents of the hotel and have visited this restaurant a few times and have never been disappointed. The food is the main feature here and service/staff are professional. The wine list is quite small but adequate, and the view as the sun sets across Windermere from the terrace can be stunning. The only issue I had on my last visit were the hotel guests in the restaurant. Now i realise that they have to eat in the hotel either as part of their package or if they simply choose to, BUT please have some general dress code in place. As we believe at £40 per head plus drinks the restaurant owes it to itself, the chef, and team to put this in place. I'm not talking dinner suits here, but after making an effort as a family, sat next to couples with sweaty dirty vest tops, trunks and flip flops is not keeping with the brand. They should either eat on the terrace or in the bar area or take room service. You simply cannot promote this restaurant at the price point without a smart /casual dress code that some of the Lakes Pubs/B Bs have! I've got to say that as much as I like the food of Lukasz Zebryk its what is happening out front that is killing his brand. Its a shame that I may be re-visting some of your competition on our next important anniversary/occasion, but please look into the comments above as you deserve to be up there with the best."

"So, I have been here once before the food was absolutely AMAZING and I have been really looking forward to coming here again The lobster last time was the most amazing lobster I have ever eaten in the UK. a good size, cooked to...perfection! On this occasion sadly, I feel as though the standard has completely dropped. The lobster was mushy which suggests it had not been stored properly (this usually happens when the lobster has been killed and left in the fridge for too long so the enzymes begin to break down the meat) I also found a hair at the side of my plate I let the waiter know and he just said ‘at least it’s not on your food, and wiped it off with his finger’ no apology that was it. I said nothing after this because I could sense by his energy that me saying anything more was going to become a battle I didn’t not have the energy for on this occasion Anyway I started writing my review and the waiter had seen so said ‘it’s that about me’ so I explained to him my concerns with the food. And he said ‘ok don’t damage the business’ He also explained that it’s the same chef etc but in all honesty that’s none of my business, from having such an amazing experience before to this. I am deeply disappointed. He did remove a apple juice and the service charge from the bill and apologised that the food was not the same and hoped we would have a better experience next time. This didn’t do much as I didn’t plan on paying the service charge anyway. Unfortunately I won’t be returning as that was a waste of on a unsatisfactory meal for people."
