"*The chef came out and shouted at my family whilst we were trying to enjoy my birthday meal* We visited Saturday 9th April at 5pm to celebrate my birthday. Myself, husband, 2 babies, my mum, dad and brother. We had ordered our food and enjoyed...our starter dishes. Food we had tried was really tasty. Then we had also ordered 2 mixed lamb/chicken souvlakis. Husbands was fine, my brothers lamb however was very chewy, rubbery and difficult to cut into. We told the waitress who was reluctant to take it back to the kitchen. She said to order a new dish and she would take it off the bill. My brother said he just wanted the lamb replacing. Next thing, THE CHEF has come out and proceeded to SHOUT at my brother. Telling him it is from the same animal, he cannot cook it differently, etc and then stormed off!! We were in absolute shock!! We didn’t want to continue our meal, being spoken to like that. Another man came to us saying he is sorry, the Chef is the owner what can he do to help. We asked for the bill for the starters we had eaten and that we would not be staying to eat another thing. The man who I assume is the actual owner) did just charge us for what we had eaten but we left a table full of food because of the way the Chef came out and shouted at us. We were not going to continue eating and paying to be spoken to like that! Never experienced anything like it! The food we had tried (apart from lamb souvlaki) was nice. But this ruined my birthday and we will not be going back again."

"Below average Sunday roast dinner. Would not go if for a roast dinner for a special occasion. Lots of empty seats in the restaurant area which should have been a sign....4 of us had roast dinner on a Sunday, certainly not worth the £18 a meal drinks to pay on top. Expect a really nice dinner for that price. The price either needs dropping quite a bit, or the standards raising a lot for the price point/standard to be correct. Once we moved the big Yorkshire pudding out the way, there really wasn 't a lot on the plate. I only had 2 very small roast potatoes. Would have appreciated a few more potatoes at the size they were and/or some mash potato to fill out the empty space, and also some carrots, as there weren 't many vegetables on the plate either. ' 'Seasonal veg ' '; carrots are in season in November and aren 't expensive. There was no real flavour/seasoning, very bland. A couple of the group had lamb. Asked about mint sauce, the pub didn 't have any...Expect any pub that serves lamb on a Sunday to have mint sauce. No cutlery given with the dinners/already on the table, even though we booked in advance, had to ask for cutlery after our dinners were served. No one interested in coming over to take for the bill. As other reviews have said, we had to go up to the bar to pay. When we did get up to the bar to pay, staff tried to charge for the wrong table; for the group of 4 next to us who had wine etc/a much bigger bill. Shows poor organisation on which table is which. Would have been of detriment to the pub had it have been the other way round, and the larger table had left first, after paying for a smaller bill, as we would not have paid for their bigger/incorrect bill! No toilet roll in the one ladies toilet, had to wait for the other cubicle to become free. Even then there was only a tiny bit in that cubicle a lot of empty rolls. A sign that the toilets had not been serviced all day Sunday until at least 6pm when I went in there. Wasn 't busy so staff could have gone in to top up loo roll. Visited Sun 19th Nov 2023 4pm, in case the pub is interested in addressing any of these issues with the kitchen. Suggest bigger portions/more flavour. More potatoes/veg/seasoning don 't cost that much for any pub, yet really make a difference to the customer 's experience. it 's in the pub 's interest to visit the table to take bill payment and get the tables/orders the right way around... Portion size appropriate for a 90 yr old, not 4 young/middle aged adults. Our plates were cleared not because we thoroughly enjoyed the meal, it was because we were all still hungry. Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1"

"the greeting we received was easy to puzzling as we were not sure whether the merciful friendly, rude or bipolar was. a regular village beacon that offers the usual bar menu with very little imagination, so punters get what they deserve, I suppose. there was...”Minty lancashire Hotpot” on the special board, that is one of my favorite dishes all the time, and considering that very few restaurants in lancaster had it actually on the menu, it was for me. what an unauthorized catastrophe. hotpot should be an unpretentious lamb stew, full of carrots and swirls with a lid of cut kartoffels often cooked for an hour or so. Of course, this process must be carried out in a restaurant situation in advance so that it can be served as quickly as possible to the customer. what happened? a catastrophe that is it. As they could even serve the scandal that has arrived before me without showing any embarrassment, it shows that they do not care what the coke looked at them. to the left over boiled lamb, fed into a smoker and covered with sourté potatoes is not a hotpot. it was one of the worst dishes of the “food” I would ever meet and not even consider feeding it to my dog; and if I did, she would not eat it, and she eats everything. they accused themselves of this monstrosity of a teller, and no word was said when they removed it from the table after I had left it after eating two pieces of mouth. they probably knew what I would have said if they even wanted to ask themselves. I am not shy, pubs and restaurants to tell what is good or bad about eating that they serve me, but for once I was stupidly hit that something that should be too right in that was actually served one of their customers. When we waited for the food to arrive, I heard one of the customers who had arrived after telling us that the last part of the hotpot had been sold and it was from the menu. I was slightly fucked that I was this guy, but I wish I was the guy who just missed."
