"Mixed experience. Had a booking, restaurant still on a Monday afternoon, took 5 minutes for someone to come to us at the desk, and when she did she barely said hello, just looked at us with a scowl. After that sat at table for 15 minutes waiting for someone to eat over. Eventually got order in, waitress didn't even ask if we wanted anything to drink. We were there 30 minutes before we actually got a drink. Not really acceptable in a quiet restaurant, that was closing in less than an hour closes early on a Monday. Food was good when it came, and different waitress by now, who was so much better. So a mixed bag. I know staff difficulties at present, but 10 minutes training in fundamentals would help. As would have someone in charge on the floor to ensure paying customers are being looked after. Poor management from what I saw. Pity, as some of the staff were great, others very poor. "very attentive and charming staff that felt comfortable and welcome. we had the escaping almost for ourselves and eating and drinking came as a result quickly. the portions were generous. the menu had suitable for vegan products it was good to see several options on the menu for people with specific nutritional requirements. In order to improve the experiences in the future, fresh ingredients (e.g. in the seafood linguins that seemed to be frozen) would be preferred, but given the current circumstances after the block and at the end of the summer season, the lack of fresh ingredients is understandable. the pub is located on the opposite side of the hotel lobby from the restaurant and worked much cosier due to the warmer lighting, the unhindered windows and the general unfussy decoration. the restaurant where we ate was quite “cold” (not in the ambient temperature, but in the atmosphere) with a very blue palette of decoration and surfaces, and with the blinds and thick curtains the half over the windows. to make more available sunlight or add some attractive internal lighting, here would make a welcome difference the procedure to pay the meal should be checked. I am sure it makes practical sense to collect card payments in the bar, but it felt quite strange in a world where we are so used to, personal also in the position to collect payments everything in all I would expect all dunes to enjoy a simple, square meal that could not be the paragon of English cuisine, but will certainly satisfy everyone starving in a attentive environment."

"When I had eaten several times in the shepherd and dog, I was very disappointed last Wednesday. we waited at least 20 minutes for someone to pick up our order, and it was almost an hour when we had set ourselves until we got to eat. we chose from the a la carte menu where past eating was excellent, but on Wednesday the appetizers and main course were very mediocre. nothing like taste, presentation and quality at previous visits. the only saving gnade was the sharing gloomy. we stayed at least one more hour at the table talk and the desert plates and coffee saucers were just left and not removed. my friends and I have often visited for special occasions, but at £40 per head for a midday week without wine we expect better service and eat."

"Visited this restaurant as a last-minute decision, and they were able to accommodate us with no problems at all, we visited with my in laws and it is fair to say the food and service were second to none. I used to work in busy pubs and always judge by the standard we had to set, and this team exceeded it they were attentive, and the check backs came at the right time. I was asked if there was anything different, and at the time, I did say no, but upon reflection and this isn't a complaint at all as a lot of places do it. But if the children's food comes out first, no one will complain. we did get ours before the little one and can respect timings etc etc but we didn't start until she got her plate anyway. The views are amazing and we really look forward to eating here again. The team here will keep you well fed and watered throughout your visit"

"went for a meal last night and was pleased to be able to choose from a selection of vegan starters, main and desserts! I had mushroom bruschetta that made these really delicious little mushrooms, I really enjoyed it, followed by jerk sweet potato curry, and finished with a sticky pear pudding and vegan ice cream. it was so nice to choose from a selection at each part of the menu, instead of just a token vegan option, and with a real ' pudding was nice! for the service and eating that I would have received, I would have forgiven 5 stars, although I guess happy cow 5 stars only keeps for fully vegan / vegetarian places, so it is a well deserved 4 stars."

"The day of the Christmas party, I had called to find something out and the bar manager had told me one of the food we ordered had been swapped out as you guys did not have this which was fine but it would have been nice if we were updated before and given options on what we could have instead. My colleague had asked to see the breakdown receipt and the only reason this was not questioned on the day was because I was not there at that time and was told about this after Christmas. The bar staff were drinking alcohol behind the bar.They did attend to our needs when we asked. When we saw the receipt there was tip that was deducted from our drinks tab, when i asked the question I got 2 reason 1) this was a normal service charge and 2) the normally stop the bar tap from going over this was not told to me when i first got in contact with the sales manager. We had paid £300 for the food and we expected the quality to be better, but it wasn't, going back to the tip when i spoke to the lady she did not apologies and she mentioned how they were disappointed as they did so much for us, yes... but we paid to be at the venue and we are disappointed as well! I sent my feedback to the sales manager and no response back which i thought was very rude and not really good customer service."

"The "Pub" was poorly managed, as they had run out of basic drinks and I was seated at the wrong table. I had to stand awkwardly while waiting for a chair to be brought to me, and had to ask three different people where my chair was after about 10 minutes. After reading reviews on TripAdvisor, I had low expectations. I was disappointed to find out that they had no vegan options for my wife who ordered the vegan roast, and the children's pizza was of terrible quality. This was our first and definitely last visit to this establishment. Even Gordon Ramsay would struggle to improve this place unless they undergo a full overhaul of staff, menu, and ambiance. Only then would there be a chance to attract more customers."

"Just a quick insight in our visit. I arrived with my girlfriend after having to rebook for January. When arrived we went over to the bar and got seated right away which is expected after booking for a certain time. The waitress Serena actually asked us if there was anywhere particular that we would like to sit. Once sat, we where approached by several members of staff asking if everything was fine and if we would like to order drinks and food! The waitress Serena (who dealt with us all night) couldn’t be thanked enough! That service that was provided definitely needs to be rolled out to all staff, it was amazing and it made our night! You went above and beyond to make sure the night ran smoothly! Honestly this has got to be once of if not the nicest place I’ve ever ate at. Mariana I can’t actually thank you enough for making the night as special as it was. We are very grateful for the service you have provided us and you including all the staff who was there on the night should be proud of running of the best restaurants in Liverpool!"

"ONCE AGAIN ! a pub with no Beer absolutely no Ale whatsoever SERIOUSLY, this is a massive pub and owned by Youngs brewery and everyone there is very upset, however this is a regular occurrence in this pub, yet it has around 8 Ale pumps. It Can’t be a couple of weeks since it last time it was totally without beer, what’s the point in driving to a Pub it’s a half hour round trip for me, to have a pint of beer when it’s proven so unreliable people just go to the multiple pubs in the area that employ managers capable of keeping at least one beer on tap ! I approached a person regarding this with a major attitude problem, sitting at a desk, to ask why this keeps happening says he one of the managers but flatly refuses to give me his name !!! Seriously, no wonder the place is so utterly disorganised. Rather than be accommodating and apologetic for the inconvenience (having driven for 15 minutes to get there for a nice pint chose to tell me I was lying. It turns out that he is the deputy manager behind Tom not on property. I felt this behaviour very strange so I took my camera phone and said ok, took a picture and said I will post it… he stood up and started to threaten me if I was to post it he would….!!!! I left the property with a view to raising this with the Police. They have spent a fortune on this property under the control of a French manager who did an amazing job in improving the property something of a disaster that through the the non existence of any management capable of running it properly will end up a waste of a lot of money."
