"Working away for my company I have been to numerous smokehouse style restaurants and can honestly say Bare Grills was the clear winner so far. I visited with my family on a personal meal not funded by my employer and it was a group choice to visit this restaurant. I had been to the same location some years ago probably 2015 when it used to be owned by Grillstock. The location is Clifton Triangle and luckily the West End multistorey car park had just re-opened after a lengthy closure £3 for 2 hours . We arrived at 5pm and there was already 3 or 4 tables eating there food when we arrived, the music was great if you love southern rock and that style which I do. We were asked for our drink order first, and then ordered our food. The order was 1 x Double Bacon Burger 1 x Filthy Pig Burger 1 x Piggyback Burger 2 x Dirty Fries with crispy bacon 1 x Dirty Fries with pulled pork The food arrived promptly and looked amazing see images , the fries were so nice with the sauce and topping bacon or pulled pork given them an extra level of delicousness! The burgers were amazing, I had the Piggy Back which is bacon and 4 burger patties! It was like a skyscraper! It was juicy, well cooked not over cooked before you jump to any conclusion! . It was too big to eat by hand, so i decided to split it into 2 halves, then eat with a knife and fork. My family all enjoyed there meal just as much with 6 plates going back completely clean the fries are seperately ordered to the burgers so on a different plate . As I said in my opinion this is the finest tasting burger fries in a smokehouse restaurant that I have been too, give it a try you will not be dissapointed! Their menu is not just limited to burgers, they have hot dogs, wings and ribs etc too. I will be returning and my family are all in agreement that they loved it too and want to return."

"We've been to quite a few pubs in the area of Banbury (incl Rose Crown and my fail-safe Falcon) but I have to say that the food here was on another level of flavour, texture and presentation. We had the aubergine board with grilled pita bread initially and, wowsers, it was utterly amazing. To start, we had the asparagus and hen egg (both guests loved it) and the blood orange with fennel which I had and shall never forget – next time I'm having two! Light, crispy, delicious – and as for the little seemingly toasted capers! Very more-ish. For mains we had three burgers with homemade cheese (tres bon) and the chicken supreme which the guest said was excellent. I skipped dessert as I was too full but tasted the tart (superb crispy pastry and luscious chocolate filling) and the rice pudding with coconut – what a great combo! Great staff – superb chef! The pub is in the lovely village of Horton. The restaurant area is small and quite plain (some tablecloths would brighten up the ambience) but pleasant and there's a large outdoor garden which I'd really like to visit in summer. But this place is all about the food, which really is imaginative and unbelievably tasty. And very keenly priced, too, given the level of food quality. We will most certainly return. On a separate note, it's a shame that new management or owners of a restaurant or B B are lumbered with the poor legacy of others before them – TripAdvisor should have a system where bad reviews of a restaurant before new ownership (in this case 2019) are wiped clean if the new version has, say, five 5-star reviews since takeover. It's bad form on TripAdvisor's part that new owners inherit the bad reviews of others before them. IMO, this place fully deserves all of its recent 5-star reviews. Just go – you won't be disappointed."

"I required 2 rooms in or close to Scalford for myself and a colleague to stay before a days staff training. Looked about, there were vacancies in Scalford, but not that I could accept. I opted for the Tollemache arms, purely on reviews by previous guests. I was not disappointed. The people at the Tollemache arms are in a service industry and they get it, they provide a service, with a smile, easily, nothing is too much. They are just nice. From the initial phone call to make the booking, to the reception on my arrival, to the evening meal, and a really wonderful packed breakfast. All good, better than good. Phoned and booked direct, really helpful from initial contact, with if we 're closed when you arrive just call us, we 'll be there and we 'll let you in . I was allocated room 4, overlooking the beer garden, a quiet room to have in winter. Ample milk and coffee sachets, tea bags, and 2 biscuit packs supplied. The bathroom is big, the bedroom fine. Supper. A warm dining room, nicely laid out. They had a party of 20 in for a Christmas party, so our dining time options were restricted, and we had been told that, so being reasonable, it was not an issue. It 's not reasonable to go in at any time and demand everything, immediately! My, fish and chips, was good, really, seriously good. My colleague had the burger. I had a tase of the burger. Next time, I WILL have the burger. Please note that breakfast is served FROM 0730. We were due to start work at 8, so sadly missed out on a cooked breakfast. The optional items for that were numerous, really sadly, we missed out. Fair enough. If we needed breakfast at 0500, it wasn 't on. Anyway, we were offered and went away with a packed breakfast in a bag. Ham and cheese salad sandwich, crisps, bottle of fruit juice, and a large slab of chocolate cake. The ham was sliced chunks of ham off the bone, sliced red onion, cucumber, lettuce, mayonnaise, delicious. I don 't comment on decor or the plumpness of cushions. I stay away on business a lot. No matter how fancy a room or the decor or the facade, if the service or attitude of the staff or proprietor is wanting, it blights the stay. The Tollemache Arms and the staff is, are, a little gem, tucked away in the middle of nowhere. When I next work near Scalford, I will look to stay here again. If I look for a weekend break in or around Scalford, I would look to stay here. Happy to have found this place. I wish them all well."

"Unfortunately one of the bad review I read after we booked our stay at the Swan came true! The room we stayed in, it was filthy. There were litters in the wardrobe and so much dust. Dirty floor in the bathroom and used soap under the shower! with a mold on the walls Breakfast was a big disappointment! Lots of meals had missing/ replaced ingredients. Every single dish we choose we were told that something is different, no ciabatta, no bloomer just white or brown toast. I would call it a SCAM! Lady who served in the morning lovely staff in the evening) was extremely rude especially to us. I can’t remember when was the last time someone treated us differently because we are not British family : Unfortunately the table next to us got a totally different service. When I ask for water glasses as there was not a single left at the buffet I got an angry look and answer back ; it’s because you are the last people to eat. Let me mention, It was 10:30am the breakfast is served till 11am Also the other family were there who actually ordered after us. My son ordered bacon sandwich it supposed to come with 2 hash browns he loves them) Unfortunately the sandwich came with out any : When we ask the lady about it she look at me and said: were did you get this from?! , so rude. Lucky I took a picture of the menu so I could prove it. No apologies just : I will get it for you. She also forgot about our double espresso, we have ordered on the beginning. So after asking for it , again without any apology we got single espresso and we got charge an extra £5 for it! I really felt like we should get refund for all of it. Even my kids who were born in UK felt uncomfortable and noticed the difference in service between our table and the other one. I would never recommend this place to anyone, even though the pub is looking lovely"

"My husband and I loved the moody take away and tonight we decided to take our family to the moody restaurant, what a disappointment! The atmosphere is awful and awkward, the staff are uninterested and slow, out of all the people working tonight only one guy actually seemed to be doing anything, the others were talking at the bar hiding behind menus!? We waited 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive and then they finally took our food order, I’d understand the wait if the restaurant was busy but it was empty! I took my daughters to the toilets which were dirty and out of toilet tissue, quite gross for a restaurant. We waited a ridiculous amount of time for our food to arrive and could see the few other diners in there doing the same. When our food arrived our starters came out with the kids main meals which was great but all of our children’s food orders were wrong we didn’t mention it and just thought we’d let the kids get on with it as we didn’t want to wait ages again to have them re done. The food wasn’t great, the burgers were dry and our starters were cold. We finished our starters and waited for our mains to arrive, expecting them to come out before our children were finished, they didn’t. We waited over 30 mins after finishing our starters before my husband had had enough and told them not to bother. I’ve never waited so long for a burger and fries in my life especially in an empty restaurant. We arrived at 6 and left at 7.30 having only had our starters. After complaining about the wait they offered to take 20% off the price of the meals when we had already told them that we have a 20% off voucher anyway. So disappointed and definitely would not return. To be honest it was so bad that I probably wouldn’t order from the take away now either."

"I've been here a few times and were it not for the reasonably priced softplay we would come here. Hubby thinks the buffet carvery is great so thumbs up from him for that. Otherwise the menu options are extremely limited if you don't want chips with your meal. Mostly burgers and the generic curry meal or salad. Lots of drink options, I enjoyed my tiramisu iced coffee, once it cake out made as it should be, which when I asked if it came with cream, the boy just shrugged and said he would ask: surely staff should know what they are serving? Staff are always lovely but a bit useless. Probably because there isn't enough of them. I.e. bringing mains out before the starter plates are cleared, and thus struggling to put anything down, not returning after mains are given to ask about dessert. The last time I was there, there was a power cut. Not their fault obviously, but everyone was left to finish what they had in the gloom. No member of staff came round to explain what was going on, how we would pay, if they knew what was happening. They just all seemed to disappear. They could have asked the kitchen staff to support informing people (as they weren't cooking anything thats for sure). The person in the softplay area just walked out and left it whilst children were still in there (subsequently helping themselves to the drinks fridge at the counter). There was no management at all. Improvements needed with management, staffing and menu choices (but I guess that's a head office decision). And like I said, we only go there because the softplay is reasonable and its location."
