"While the menu primarily features Chinese dishes, there are also many Thai options, as well as some Singaporean and Malaysian dishes. There are simply too many options to choose favorites, but the chicken with cashew nuts and crispy chili beef are definitely at the top of my list. The satay chicken to start is also a standout! The staff are attentive and very friendly, managing to be accommodating even in a packed restaurant. They continuously checked in to see if we were enjoying our meals, and our water was refilled without us having to ask. The price for dinner is £19.50 per person, and there's a 10% service charge, which I don't mind at all. The service was flawless. Although it’s not the cheapest meal, the experience was worth every penny. Drinks and desserts are available for an additional cost, but after such a hearty meal, I had no room for something sweet. I do have a couple of critiques; the website's booking tool isn’t functioning properly. I called on the day of my visit because I hadn’t received a confirmation, and I was informed that there was an issue with the website, and in the future, I should book a table by phone. Additionally, the website mentions the dinner price as £18.50; while the difference is minimal, it's still incorrect. The website needs to be updated to prevent confusion for future customers. Overall, it was an excellent dining experience."

"After reviewing the menu, we decided to go for a 'running buffet' and shared a variety of dishes, reordering every ten minutes or so. I asked everyone to rate each dish on a scale of 1 to 5, and every main dish received a perfect score of 5, except for the Szechuan Prawns, which got a 5.5, and the sizzling spicy chicken, which scored a 6! The rice and noodles were all delicious—fluffy, tasty, and well-seasoned—but we gave them all a rating of 4 simply because the mains were exceptional. The standout dishes were the Char Siew (honey pork), which we ended up ordering three times, and the sizzling hot spicy chicken, which we ordered twice. It had a delightful kick of heat, was tender and moist, and had a wonderful sauce—even though I tried to manage the scores, they rated it a 6! The Szechuan prawns were plump, firm, and cooked to perfection, and they scored a very hard-fought 5.5, with just the right amount of heat. One of the boys was a bit picky, but we requested a serving of Singaporean noodles without vegetables for him without any hassle. This isn’t just average food; it’s really good, and it comes out quickly, looks appealing, and tastes fantastic—reflecting its price. We also tried the 'wine by the glass' options. The white Chilean Sauvignon Blanc paired well with the food, while I enjoyed an Australian Shiraz that complemented the beef, pork, and spicy dishes nicely. The Italian 'Blush' rosé was also a hit. We're already planning to return on Monday with another group of six to explore more of the menu, and I’m genuinely looking forward to it. If you truly appreciate good food, I highly recommend trying Chef Peking!"

"It is true that I spend a lot of time on London, in fact it’s fast becoming my second home, and whilst my knowledge of the Yorkshire Cuisine Scene is just a tad more than the average guy on the street, my knowledge of London eateries is less so, albeit I still know it relatively well. But one thing that has (up until now) escaped me is a decent Chinese Restaurant, whilst Soho is a forest of Chinese eateries with so many which one do you choose? Fresh from an afternoon sat in Green Park in the rare epic sunshine of the capital sipping Rhubarb Ginger G T’s I made the quick journey to Queensway Station where the Royal China is located almost adjacent to. On one of the hottest days of the year the welcome cold blast from the air conditioning was a welcome feel, also was the sight of a packed restaurant filled with people who looked like they knew a thing or two about authentic Chinese food, always a very good sign. The decor of the restaurant is, i’m reliably informed, authentic in comparison to the great restaurants you’ll find in China, almost formal in its style, white table cloths, waiters dressed in black, bright white lighting and a lobster tank, you get the idea. Whilst the toilets leave a lot to be desired, not normally something I’d comment on but all of my companions did mention it, the service is impeccable, with a menu this vast in choice we elect to seek advice from the waitress who delivers a blow by blow account of what we should be eating, we take her word for it. As so the dishes start flowing, Peking Duck with Hoisin and Wraps, Crispy Baby Squid, Soft Shell Crab, Honey Roasted Pork, Sweet Sour King Prawns. Again where the restaurant disappoints in presentation they delight in flavour so much so that we all agree this is one of the finest Chinese Meals I’ve ever encountered. The rice is fluffy and tasty the noodles are seasoned well and accompany the dishes perfectly but what impresses me the most is the pork, it’s juicy, tender, finger licking good. Royal China have a number of restaurants located around the city including the Royal China Club, regarded as the best in London. If you are in need of a Chinese fix and find yourself in the Capital then my strong recommendation is Royal China, authentic awesome Chinese food!!"

"After several bad takeways, starting with the munch boxes back in covid times, which were awful and we have since avoided after two soggy cold meals which tasted like they had come from the local chippy! Followed by eating in on a trip to the theatre last year, on a bottomless prosecco night ordering the buffet menu. It was very clear the standard had dropped considerably, which was very disappointing as we presumed the takeaways had been bad due to travelling, but no the food was equally bad, and when asking for more was ignored yes we had finished our few dishes, but I like to order as I go along as I don 't want to be greedy, but the portions were not adequate! Also on asking for another glass of Prosecco, she tutted and asked what time we arrived as it was only 'bottomless ' for 2 hours, we had been there 1 hour 20 minutes (booked for 5.30 as we need to be at theatre for 7.15), she resentfully gave us half a glass each, and produced the card machine, although I had said I wanted to order another dish, so we left early and had a drink in the Wyvern. So for some foolish reason a couple of weeks back I decided I wanted a Chinese takeaway .... oh dear when will I learn .... food cold!, which i was prepared for so heated the oven, but the three dishes we order all had the same sweet and sour sauce tipped over them! one was a sweet and sour the other two were crispy beef, which should be dry and a honey buttered prawn dish, which was just batter no prawns covered in the same sauce. The following day they sent through a feed back form which I filled in, but did not get any response from them, not bothered comes to mind!, such a shame as we have supported Alan and his family at all of their restaurants they have had for over 30 years. I 've heard Hakka 2 is good so that is were I will now be spending my money on my next Chinese fix!"

"A Culinary Adventure at Bugis Kitchen: A Taste of Southeast Asia in London Tucked inside the elegant Copthorne Tara Hotel in London Kensington, Bugis Kitchen is a hidden gem offering a delightful journey through the rich and diverse flavours of Southeast Asia. During our visit, we indulged in a variety of dishes that left our taste buds singing. Here’s a detailed account of our culinary adventure. Starters: A Promising Beginning Chicken Satay Our meal began with the Chicken Satay, featuring corn-fed chicken skewers served with cucumber, red onion, and a spicy peanut sauce. The skewers were perfectly grilled, tender, and flavorful. The accompanying peanut sauce added a rich, nutty depth that complemented the freshness of the cucumber and the sharpness of the red onion. Mongolian Prawn Next, we tried the Mongolian Prawn. This dish featured succulent prawns in a light batter, stir-fried with a sweet and savoury sauce infused with a hint of black pepper. The prawns were delightfully crispy on the outside while maintaining a juicy interior, making it a standout starter. Mains: A Feast of Flavors Chicken Curry Malay Style For the main course, we savoured the Chicken Curry Malay Style. This dish showcased tender chicken pieces cooked in a blend of authentic Malay spices, with okra, potatoes, red chilli, and coconut milk. The curry was rich and aromatic, with a perfect balance of spice and creaminess that made it incredibly satisfying. Beef Rendang The Beef Rendang, a slow-cooked beef stew with coconut milk and spices, was another highlight. The beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the complex flavours of the stew were deeply comforting. This dish is a must-try for anyone who enjoys robust, hearty flavours. Chilli Crab A visit to Bugis Kitchen wouldn’t be complete without trying the Chilli Crab. The whole crab was braised in a spicy-sweet egg gravy that was simply irresistible. The sauce was so delectable that we eagerly mopped it up with the accompanying Mantou Buns, not wanting to leave a single drop behind. Char Kway Teow The Char Kway Teow was a delightful stir-fry of flat rice noodles with egg, prawns, beansprouts, a hint of chilli, and sweet soy sauce. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the dish had a wonderful smokiness from the stir-frying process, known as wok hei. Nasi Goreng Our final main was the Nasi Goreng, a flavorful fried rice served with satay, shrimp, peanut sauce, prawn crackers, and a fried egg. This dish was a delightful mix of textures and flavours, with the peanut sauce adding a rich creaminess to the perfectly cooked fried rice. Desserts: A Sweet Ending Bubur Cha-Cha For dessert, we sampled the Bubur Cha-Cha, a dish of taro, sweet potato, and pearl sago infused with coconut milk. The dessert was pleasantly sweet and had a comforting, creamy texture that was quite enjoyable. Red Bean Sago Lastly, we tried the Red Bean Sago, a red bean sago infused with coconut milk. While I didn’t personally enjoy this dessert, my wife found it quite palatable. The unique texture and flavour combination may be an acquired taste for some. Service and Atmosphere The service at Bugis Kitchen was exceptional, with Abbas ensuring we had a memorable dining experience. Additionally, all the meat served at the restaurant is Halal, catering to diverse dietary preferences. Final Thoughts Bugis Kitchen offers a vibrant and authentic taste of Southeast Asia in the heart of London. From the rich and spicy curries to the sweet and savoury seafood, every dish is a testament to the region’s culinary heritage. If you find yourself in London Kensington, a visit to Bugis Kitchen is a must."
