"Where do I begin a maddening experience Very poor service/management and ridiculously poor food An hour for starters and over two hours for a meal! Yes we did complain your feedback is noted was the response every single time Starters: Prawns and tomato sauce. NONE of the extra ingredients advertised. Again your feedback is noted Mains: Bones in chicken pie we were told this was due to the pub ordering pre-cooked chicken in bags! Again your feedback is noted Service: MEGA slow service over TWO hours for a simple lunch. We had to chase TWICE!!!! Overall: No seasoning in any dish. Bland poorly cooked food The duty manager on duty took one starter off the bill (why when two prawn dishes were poor)? Also, he did nothing about the bone in the pie! No lunch menu was available (although advertised). why Having expressed our dissatisfaction, the we do not care attitude left us shocked Having taken clients to this establishment regularly, we expected so much more If you respect your time, want food cooked with care and seasoning, and do not want to potentially choke on a hazard run a mile and find another restaurant."

"This was my third visit to Homewood Park, and as always, the food was delicious. Everything was beautifully presented. They incorporate ingredients I wouldn’t typically use at home, but I'm always eager to try them when dining out. My husband had a dish of smoked chicken, black pudding, pickled mushrooms, and pear. It was an unusual combination but was presented so nicely that he finished every bite. For our main course, we both chose roast pork, and for dessert, I opted for sticky toffee pudding. It was light as a feather, though I wouldn’t have minded a bit more of the sticky toffee sauce! Absolutely wonderful! Kudos to the chef. The staff were as charming as ever—friendly and attentive. They truly make you feel special, from Ania at the reception to Miles at the bar, and the waiter who remembered us from our previous visit. We're already looking forward to our next trip in May for a special birthday celebration!"

"We booked The Anglers Arms last minute before NYD and all of us were so incredibly impressed with everything. Everything from the service as soon as we walked through the door, the attentive staff and the gorgeous food, there’s something for everyone even on Sundays. Despite it being busy, it was still a calm atmosphere with brilliant lighting and it was immaculately clean. All 5 of us can’t wait to come back already!"

"We had an amazing discovery on our way back from Tenterden when we found The Bull Inn. The staff were lovely from the moment we walked in, and we were escorted to our table in the restaurant. We felt very welcome and took our time choosing from the menu. I ordered the 'Clucking Big One' and my mum had the 'Veggie burger' since we both wanted a chips night. We were not disappointed at all...except for the fact that I couldn't finish my meal! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was lovely, and we left with full bellies. Thank you, The Bull Inn!"

"I visited the **** Inn for a birthday meal and had the nourishing bowl, slow-fried bubbly fish, and the fish cake. All of the dishes were excellent, beautifully presented, and delicious. The service was very good; the staff was friendly and polite. The fruit crumble dessert was enormous and incredibly tasty. The menu offers a wide variety of options, ensuring there’s something for everyone."

"We had a fantastic stay from the moment we arrived at the reception until the very end. The staff was incredibly helpful and professional throughout our visit. The facilities were excellent, offering free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee-making supplies, along with cookies in the room. Our room was clean, modern, and featured a beautiful view of the fields. The bar and restaurant were also bright and tidy, and the dining experience was exceptional. My wife and I enjoyed steak—mine was rare while hers was well done, and both were cooked to perfection. Once again, the employees were attentive and professional. We both had a restful night's sleep, and breakfast was served within minutes, showcasing all local, tasty ingredients. If I had to offer any criticism, it would be that the room was quite warm upon our arrival, and we had to turn off the heating. Nonetheless, I would highly recommend staying here; it was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had."

"I must say, I was so disappointed with my visit to Fredricks. My friend and I went for afternoon tea and were really looking forward to it. But we both found the experience really disappointing. Firstly the afternoon tea cakes looked nothing like the advert, nowhere near as fancy. The scones were lovely but we only had about a couple of tablespoons of cream between the two of us which wasn’t enough! The chap who initially gave us our tea was lovely but then once he had gone we didn’t see a soul. There was no one coming to check if we were ok or needed refills. I ended up drinking cold tea and my friend who had a coffee had nothing once that was finished. It wasn’t until we were practically finished that someone else came to have afternoon tea that we could actually grab someone to ask them for a refill! The ambiance of the afternoon tea was awful. Initially there was lovely music in the background but after about 15 mins it was turned off and we were left in silence. All we could hear were staff in the next room shouting to each other about something or other. There was no atmosphere at all and we actually felt like we shouldn’t be there! I’ve been to a number of afternoon teas and this was by far the worst one I have had. However this was my friends first afternoon tea and we thought that Fredricks would be fabulous for a first time tea..... but she was so disappointed! I felt really bad for her! : I don’t think I would come again."

"This was my third visit to Homewood Park and as usual the food was delicious. Everything was beautifully presented. They use ingredients that I wouldn’t necessarily eat at home but always happy to try when out out for a meal. My husband had smoked chicken, black pudding, pickled mushrooms and pear. An unusual combination, but beautifully presented and he cleared his plate. We both had roast Pork as a main meal and I had Sticky toffee pudding for dessert. It was light as air, but more sticky toffee sauce please! Wonderful! Well done chef. The staff were charming as ever, friendly and attentive. "We booked for a Christmas celebration with friends and chose from the fixed price menu. The meal was well presented and almost entirely excellent. My only reservation was that the turkey was obviously not carved from an actual bird but probably compressed breast from several that said it was tender, tasty and without fat/gristle so very very edible! Service was friendly but unobtrusive and the whole event was a delight. We intend to take other friends and our children to this venue in the coming months the best recommendation."

"I recently visited this quaint garden center, and was impressed by the wide variety of high-quality plants available for purchase. The entire facility is well-maintained, with a lovely assortment of gifts and clothing items also on offer. The cafe on the premises has a smaller menu, but with the chef's unique touch, it is sure to please any palate. The atmosphere is charming and inviting, and I am eager to return to try the breakfast menu."

"The Shoulder of Mutton is our favourite venue for eating out at the weekend. It is easy to get to, cosy, with real fires. The beer is excellent, well kept and a good temperature. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The food is home-cooking style and really flavoursome. It is easy to book a table on the website. They also have occasional events which are very popular."

"The food was of excellent quality, the staff was friendly, and it was welcoming to dogs. While it wasn't the cheapest option, we found the prices to be reasonable for the value we received, and we had a great time during our visit. We appreciated the dog treats available at the bar, and the staff kindly provided a bowl of water for our thirsty pup. Overall, I would rate the food a 5, the service a 5, and the atmosphere a 4."

"I love this hotel and location, so decided to meet my parents who live in Brighton at the restaurant for a lovely Sunday lunch so we headed down on London. On arrival the restaurant didn't have our booking even thought it was confirmed through Open Table, they told me this happens all the time . It took 15 minutes of back and forth to get this sorted and they squeezed us in, and it killed the experience the table was right by the kitchen door and we ended up having to keep moving to let people past, it was a shame. The food was good but after the problems the experience was marred. Bering made to feel like this was my fault will prevent me returning again, they have lost a very loyal guest."

"This is a pub with a bit of an identity crisis. The restaurants area is still sharing space with the pub and you’re not quite sure where you are. The staff were really friendly. However I’m a bit disappointed that when booking 3 days prior, we weren’t offered the Christmas menu, but instead found out it was preorder only when we arrived on Boxing Day. To be honest, we wouldn’t have booked if we had known that. Sadly the food was rather a let down. The beef croquettes were quite honestly the strangest and least appetising thing I’ve ever seen on a plate. They seemed to be just puréed beef, deep fried. A croquette should be mainly potato. These had none. They were really quite awful. Mains. Chunky chips seems like an easy thing to muster up? Nope. My partner and friend received a bowl of about 6 mammoth potatoes each. I don’t think you could even describe them as wedges. They were stupidly large chunks which inevitably where undercooked in the centre. My salmon was actually cooked quite nicely! However the strange imbalance of overly thick cream sauce and raw cherry tomatoes left it pretty much inedible. Finally, the acoustics in the dining room really were the nail in the coffin. A large table with multiple screaming children behind us meant that we literally couldn’t have a conversation with each other, despite being face to face. Such a disappointing experience."

"A disappointing meal. We visited on a Sunday for lunch to celebrate my son’s 21st. We were kept waiting for our table then served a very average meal. The roast had obviously been prepared much earlier in the day and kept warm as everything was over cooked, apart from the green beans that were almost raw but somehow still as tough as old boots. The beef was tough, dry and tasteless and we had to ask for horseradish sauce which failed to appear until we chased it up. Having warned them that one of our party was gluten and dairy free, the options were poor. The best they could offer was the roast with no Yorkshire pudding, no roast potatoes or carrots. Just the tough beef and green beans. Not quite what we were hoping for to mark the occasion. Needless to say, with so many restaurants in York to choose from, we won’t be visiting again."

Walkability: Easily accessible via train or by foot from main routes and the local bus company Food drinks: Large hearty portions of pub classics plus they have daily specials running that range in different cuisine from Japanese to Spanish always something different Noteworthy details: Can hire bell tents during the warmer months Have many functions on like octoberfest and opera night plus bank holiday festivals in summer Hotel highlights: Great view, Romantic, Quiet, Kid-friendly, Great value"
"We thoroughly enjoy dining at the Lordleaze. There's great value and a wide selection on the menu. The staff is friendly, and if any issues arise, they are quickly resolved. We will definitely be returning!"

"It was a very quiet evening ,although things did get a bit busier later on. The person on reception was lovely welcoming, friendly and efficient. Wasn’t so sure about the gentleman who took our drinks order who maybe seemed a little offhand ... We were then served our drinks and meal by someone else who was, if anything, a little too solicitous! We were told that “the chef is ready for you now” and were moved to our table (with our drinks), only to have quite a wait in a very empty dining room before even the amuse bouche was served. This was a shame as the lounge area had been cosy and comfortable! The smell of lilies near our table was rather overpowering but I really should have mentioned this at the time. All in all, I would return, but would also consider other places as well."
