"The food at this restaurant is delicious and the portions of Sunday roast are huge, all at reasonable prices. The front parking was a bit cramped, but there are some easily accessible spaces in the additional parking area. There is a large children's play area that kept the kids entertained while waiting for their meal. The service was also excellent. The only downside is that the venue itself feels a bit worn and run down, especially the bar area. Overall, I would give the food a rating of 5 out of 5."

"I was disappointed with my recent experience at this restaurant. I had specifically booked a table near the carvery because my mother, who is over 80, cannot walk far and needed a comfortable spot. Instead, I was seated near the entrance, which was too far for her to manage, so I ended up having to fetch both of our meals. I expressed my dissatisfaction to a young staff member, who informed me that the restaurant was fully booked and offered no alternatives. I noticed her speaking to someone who appeared to be the manager, but he didn’t come to check on us. We visit this restaurant frequently, so we were quite disappointed with how we were treated, especially considering how hard my mother tried to come out. It took some time for someone to notice we were waiting for drinks, but when the waitress did come by, she was very pleasant and checked on us after we finished our meal."

"The food and service was great, only two things, my mother in law didn’t realise she has to enter her registration number as notice were small and she is worried about getting fine now. No staff reminders and it would be helpful. Also, I booked the table as a surprise for 13 people and it was a surprise party, when my family turned up it was a table or six, luckily that was corrected. I tried to ring a few times but no answer at all"

"the bratbeef was very fat and when I had taken the fat from my grandson, had hardly any left, some of my bratkartoffels were hard and we waited ages for dessert and when I apparently asked it, it wasn't going through them, they gave us dessert free, but after half an hour wait for a 5 year old on ice I think that was the least they could do. not as nice as we had in others."

"We were 3 sisters come together for our annual christmas lunch together. Service was a little slow but we chose the carvery. The beef was more than a little fatty and we expected the vegetables etc would be hot and fresh as we arrived earlier but they were a little dry. The gravy was lumpy. Normally we would have eaten the lot but we don't like food to be cold and dry (even with the gravy). The place filled up fairly quickly after we had sat down with our meals. Unfortunately not as good as an experience as we were looking forward to. There only seemed to be 2 servers on the floor and took some time to come back to make sure the food was okay but must have been fairly obvious that it wasn't as we had left quite a bit on our plates. Not so sure about coming back for a while. Sorry."

"I have always enjoyed dining at this restaurant when I bring my in-laws from Horsham. However, on this visit, I was disappointed by the unfriendly and serious demeanor of the waiter who served our table. The dessert selection was also limited, with only one option available, which was disappointing as I prefer variety. "I had the Bouillabaisse which was amazing could have done with more bread to accompany it though. My husband had fish and chips but found the portion of fish rather small for the price. Mussels were deemed excellent by my daughter in law. Children were very happy with their meals. Shame the weather wasn't good enough to have the doors open onto the terrace. Service was pretty good and friendly."

"We knew exactly what to expect in the way of food and opted for the carvery. I discussed with the waiter how to go about getting my food as I have mobility issues and decided to join the queue only at service point. The waiter waved me across at the correct time and so was able to choose my own vegetables....and several servings of pork crackling. "eating was good, but the table was sticky, like he never cleaned with a decent greasy. it was also disappointing that all the condiments were in baggage, and when we asked for me, it seemed like an inconvenience, or an surprise that with 7 people 5 scarlet were not enough. also tee at the end came with small pots milk. when we asked for fresh milk, they said they had no one. but coffee had been made with milk. individual bags of seasoned and milk are not acceptable in this day and age."

"Savoury afternoon tea for two at 15:30. We had the restaurant to ourselves, music playing in background, restaurant looked lovely. We were greeted, seated and served by a young man, who initially was very attentive and polite and gave us the impression that we were in for a treat. We asked for one of the egg sandwich to be replaced by an additional cheese sandwich, which we were told was no trouble. We were informed at the start that endless hot drinks were included in the price and our choice of drinks could be charged during the sitting. Afternoon tea was brought to the table by a lady. Unfortunately, as requested the egg sandwich had not been replaced by an additional cheese sandwich and we were warned that we may want to wait for the scotch eggs to cool down as they were hot and runny. The sandwiches, quiche and savoury scones were tasty. After being served and during our 1.5 hour sitting we were not again approached by a member of staff. We had to call someone over to ask if we could have a second drink, the coffee latte was freshly made, but the filtered coffee was obviously not fresh. We had to leave the table and approach a member of waiting staff to ask for the bill and to pay. On leaving the restaurant, we seen no members of staff and left without a thank you or goodbye. A shame as £60 was spent for a birthday celebration and it was definitely not the service or experience we were expecting. However, on paying the bill, we were informed they were busy preparing for a Burns night celebration, so maybe we just choose the wrong day and time for a visit."

But was served by a guy that seemed almost in his own world was struggling to cut the meat asked for roast potatoes but they tasted and looked like jacket potatoes. No apple sauce. "My friend and I enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast lunch here which is excellent value but huge! This would suit most people with a very healthy appetite but it was a shame that my elderly friend could not do it justice although she gave it a good go! I would suggest offering a slightly smaller size of roast dinner (price adjusted accordingly) for those with smaller appetites. This isn't a complaint, just a suggestion. The staff were excellent, friendly and attentive. I have only marked down the score I've given for ambience because, on a warm sunny day, it does get uncomfortably hot in the conservatory and there are no blinds."

"Afternoon Tea was booked by my wife as a surprise for my birthday. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Dedicated quiet area for Afternoon Tea, shown to table, waitress Sandra was so lovely, very helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble. Asked if sandwiches could be free from mayonnaise, no problem at all, lovely selection of cakes and sandwiches brought out, scones were absolutely delicious. Nice touch was small carafe of water with lemon brought to table as well. Endless tea and coffee on request, would definately recommend and would love to go back."

"We have been using Toby Carvery from the early days when it first opened and have always enjoyed the food and above all the friendly service. Unfortunately on our visit last night we didn't !! We had pre booked a table for 3 persons and...were due to meet our grand daughter there when she finished work which was due to be shortly after our booking time .The manager who was working on the front desk told us we could not go and sit at our table and have a drink whilst we were awaiting the arrival of our grand daughter.She was quite blunt and rude and basically said if you want to sit down now you will have to change to a table for 2 ? I understand if the restaurant was busy but it was 5.30pm and was less than half empty ! We then spoke to our grand daughter who was working a little later than expected and she told us to carry on and that she would go home instead as she didn't know exactly how long she would have been. This wouldn't have been a problem as we would have sat down and ordered a bottle of wine to drink whilst waiting for her. So we went and sat down very disappointed as we had not seen her for awhile we ordered 2 Heinekens which we promptly sent back as they were totally flat in dirty glasses. Things got even worse when we ate our meal as it was truly awful,the roast pototoes that had obviously left there for hours dried up and inedible,stringy chewy fatty beef, dried up cauliflower cheese,over done carrots,etc etc. This was undoubtably the worst carvery meal and experience we have ever had. The only plus point was that our young waitress was polite charming and served us with a smile,please take a leaf out of her book manager !!!"
