"Went for a family celebration meal. Service was very attentive and friendly with no airs and graces – just solid, down-to-earth Yorkshire friendliness. As The Bay Horse was always first and foremost a traditional 'pub ', they have had to adapt over the years to focus on the food offering and I think they have managed it really well – the small menu still manages to cater for most tastes and they were easily able to cater for 'off menu ' requests (none of the 'sorry, that 's how the meal comes ' nonsense you get in chain restaurants). The food came out promptly, was nice and hot, and it certainly all appeared to be freshly-cooked. Yes, we had a couple of hiccups (one meal was accidentally missed off for example), but it was dealt with sensibly. Prices were a little on the high side for pub food, but to be fair, we have seen that quite a lot recently so I assume it 's just inflation (for example, simple things like bangers and mash, that I 'd normally expect to be around £12, were £16). Overall we were very happy with our food and managed to eat almost every last bit, although that left some of us feeling rather full as the portions are quite generous."

"If you're looking for the best burgers and freshly made milkshakes in St Andrews, you have to try this place! The flavors are incredible, especially the strawberry cheesecake milkshake. Unfortunately, wheelchair accessibility is not possible, but they offer takeout service. This is a great spot for dinner, with prices ranging from £10-20 per person. Highly recommended for all readers!"

"Disappointed! Good for a night out but sadly they weren’t very well prepared for a hen night party that was booked over a year ago… Also, the food was tasty but wasn’t what the menu stated eg: sweet potato mash was actually 6 tiny cubes of sweet potato and we had to ask for things that were missing like onion rings or ice cream from puddings ! If they would have explained there issues to us before we had to complain then it wouldn’t have been so bad. If it was just for a birthday that you can redo another time but this was for a one off special occasion (Hen do). They only really offered us 2 bottles of Prosecco to apologise (and a bigger booth with decorations which we had actually already paid for anyway). They didn’t know what package we had actually paid for!! The actual staff serving us were fine and the cocktail instructor but it just seemed that management didn’t seem to be prepared for a hen party. Would go back for a random night out but wouldn’t advise going for such a special occasion."

"I have heard good things about The Oak Room and we were not disappointed, except upon arrival they did not seem to have our reservation. However, we were quickly seated and enjoyed drinks in the lounge before our meal in the main restaurant. After inquiring if it was a special occasion, it was a nice touch to have my wife's dessert served with a birthday message while a pianist played a quiet rendition of Happy Birthday. The food was excellent and the service was impeccable, making for a very pleasant evening that will definitely bring us back for another visit."

"We had my Father's Wake at The George one mid afternoon a couple of weeks ago. We had about 80 guests and were able to use the back room and also spill out into the main areas of the pub. Claire and her team were incredibly friendly, warm and welcoming. All the guest really enjoyed the Afternoon Tea that was provided. We even took lots of cake home as there was so much. The atmosphere was relaxed and calm and it gave my Mum and the rest of our friends and family a comfortable and stress free location to celebrate the life of my father. Thank you to everyone at The George for making everything so easy. Much appreciated!"

"We went to this restaurant for a birthday lunch and decided to order from the happy hour lunch menu. For starters, we had the pate with salad, which was very tasty. The salad dressing was delicious and everything tasted freshly made. For the main course, we chose the chorizo chicken pasta, which had plenty of chicken chunks mixed in with the pasta. The sauce was creamy and had a nice kick of spice. All of the dishes were freshly made and the service was excellent. We will definitely be coming back to try the two steaks for £35 deal, as the couple at the table next to us had it and it looked amazing."

"The restaurant was spotless and had some really thorough but sensible covid measures in place. We ate inside and had lots of room around our table. Having fewer tables meant it was quiet and perhaps not the hustle and bustle we were used to but this is completely understandable given the covid context! The food was absolutely delicious, me and my kids loved the food. You order for kids from the adult menu but you can customise to suit kids’ preferences. The staff were friendly, attentive and really thoughtful in their interactions with us. Overall a brilliant experience and we will be back"

"After 3 years of living in the UK and trying countless pizza places, this is by far the best one. The prices are exceptional and the pizza actually tastes like pizza. All the other popular chains literally make pizza that tastes like cardboard. But the pizza at Pizza Cottage tastes legit. The crust tastes like freshly baked bread, and the toppings tastes natural (at least for vegetarian options). It just melts in your mouth! This is the only place me and my family will order pizza from now on."

"This is the most fabulous place. We loved it. We are a group of friends staying for a weekend at Mawgan Porth.. and after a lovely walk along the coast path on Sunday afternoon popped in, hoping we could just get a drink but thought that might not be welcome being a Sunday lunchtime and not wanting to eat. Well.... we needn't have worried. They could not have been more friendly and welcoming. Gave us a massive table all together (with the dog... and gave her biscuits)... and of course... one drink became several.... and we then decided we would have some small plates of food too. The food was fabulous... the service and friendliness exceptional. Highly recommend and thank you Gareth and the team for a great time. Vegetarian options: I had the mushroom soup. "I am deeply disappointed with my recent experience at this restaurant. We ordered only vegan side dishes, specifically fries and vegan nuggets, yet the service was a complete disaster. An item that looked like nuggets was placed on our table and then taken away a total of five times, being placed on different tables around the room before being returned to us. The waiter then said, “sorry we weren’t sure whose food this was but it’s actually yours.” My whole family began eating, only for the waiter to come back three minutes later and tell us we had been given the wrong food. When we asked what nuggets we had eaten, he said it was ham. As Muslims, we don’t eat pork, so we were horrified by this response. We specifically ordered vegan side dishes for a reason. How could they mess that up so badly? Why did we eat here? Because we’re not from Manchester and we specifically went to a nice space to watch football. The waiter took the dish away, leaving us disgusted that we had just eaten pork for the first time. My mother, who wears a hijab, was with us, so it was particularly ignorant of the waiters to mistakenly give us pork. None of them took it seriously or even apologized for the mistake. Instead, when one waiter took the dish away, another one BROUGHT IT BACK and told us we could have the whole thing for free since we already ate it. I told him, “we literally just told the other waiter we don’t eat pork,” to which he responded, “oh okay!” with a smile and walked away. What a nightmare! It was incredibly frustrating to watch them mistakenly put those nuggets on five different tables before assuring us it was ours, only to then tell us they had made a mistake again after we had eaten it. Don’t they have a system to track which food belongs to which table? I also saw these waiters make multiple other mistakes, placing different food on different tables and having people call them back to say they didn’t order it. The waiters are both male with long blonde hair. How is this allowed? If someone had an allergy and mistakenly ate something they didn’t order, this restaurant could be sued. Someone who is vegan/vegetarian could also have been frustrated by this? But obviously, our case was not taken seriously because it wasn’t an allergy. This experience was unacceptable and I am still recovering from it."

"A nice pub tucked away in a quiet street a few minutes walk from London Bridge station with a nice atmosphere and several vegan options. I had the vegan parmo which was nice and a very good portion, two pieces of ‘chicken’! I was in at lunchtime and service was friendly and fast. Vegan items are printed in blue on the menu, when I was there the options were: Vegan Parmo (breaded seitan, chorizo, bechamel chips) Vegan patty in beetroot bun with onion rings Or patty with pulled jackfruit"

"We visited as a group of 12, booked in April and pre orders given to restaurant several days before visit. Service was extremely slow with no apology given. Hot starters served on hot plates on bed of rocket which meant the rocket was completely wilted and inedible. Half of main courses delivered approx 20 minutes before remainder came out. One portion of seabass was so hard it couldn't be cut and was sent back no replacement as they had run out of seabass. Mushroom Risotto was dry, bland and all stuck together plus mushrooms were bordering on slimy. Chicken curry was bland and pre cooked shredded chicken only edible part of dish was poppadom. One burger was dropped as it left kitchen and replacement, although offered to be only a few minutes away, took nearly 30 minutes and bun was rock hard. Roast potatoes on one dish had absolutely no colour to them and looked more like boiled. Two of us didn't even bother to stay for desserts and refused to pay for main courses. We never really received any apology for the bad service and meals. We were told they had staffing issues, but customers arriving after us ate and left before our main courses even arrived. Sorry, but I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone."

"If you want to have a Sundays style slap on your plate steak go here. Even after telling the manager I don’t want my food to be piled up on the plate and stacked I still got it stacked and every time I moved my food everything was falling of the plate a proper overspill. Will never recommend anyone going here again. Nayim you was missed I think your only guy who knows how steak should be served. Didn’t enjoy at all as it was like my food came out of a car crash. I wanted fine dine in steak as you charge not Tobys Carvery for the fine dining price."

"we went on a Sunday for a fast meal as we were busy all day, so we could be one and out for a fast meal. it took some time until the meal arrived. both meals were not properly cooked. the waitress was new and fought (not a problem normally) and did not check whether our meal was in order, what I thought was one of the first things to be taught. we heard the kitchen had to fight. we had a problem to win the attention of everyone and had to wait until the end of the meal when we were willing to say something about the quality of the meal. the person responsible, due to the difficulties, drew a fee from the bill, but I would rather have had a good quality meal and experience. because of the delays we were too late for a date."

"This is not my first visit to this restaurant, but it will certainly be my last. The attitude of the first girl was terrible; she needs to work on her manners. Another girl seemed to be in a bad mood, as she was complaining loudly about something that all the customers could hear. This is very unprofessional, regardless of her age being 16. Additionally, the batter around the fish was very rubbery. The prices were also quite expensive. I will be taking my business elsewhere next time."

"The entire meal was an exceptional experience, started with sitting at the bar and enjoying one of their great selection of in house cocktails I’ve never been to a restaurant where staff have gone through the menu step by step even coming out with a board of cuts to show the quality of their produce we really appreciated it Lewis (sorry if I’ve butchered that). We went here for an anniversary meal so when getting to our table we’re greeted with a lovely card congratulating us which again was a first. The food was excellent, great selection of steaks and sides, I would say that if you’re going as a pair then 3 sides is likely enough to share between you. At the end of our meal we were brought complementary ice cream cones which was a welcome surprise. Service couldn’t have been improved, all staff were friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend this to anyone, many thanks to the staff for a great night, looking forward to our next visit!"

"We booked a Saturday night meal recently based on recent TA reviews as we were on holiday in nearby Lavenham. First impressions were very good this is a typical country pub, nice n cosy but up to date. We were greeted warmly, shown to our table and the orders placed. We shared a starter because the waitress informed us the mains are quite large portions that's an understatement! We had the steak ale pie and steak chips as the mains, but of which were delicious. Sadly, we had no room for pudding which was a shame as they to looked lovely. All in all, a very pleasant evening in a lovely pub."

"so my man has always gone from this restaurant and after reading all the positive reviews we have decided to book a table. first I would say that all staff members were very polite and we understand that it is nice for the server to be friendly; but most of the other servers that were on other tables also constantly asked us if we were happy and after a few times this started getting on our nerves. Now that we tried to eat something, the menu is misleading and is too expensive! my man had 'soup of the day' tasted like water with some spicy and I feel that this came from a freezer. I was really tensed on three times boiled chips to get frozen of chips that were deep fried; also, the fish had a nice enough teig, but the fish was watery and tasteless, suggesting that this was also frozen and we definitiw buy the same mushy heaps from the zinn home feel a foolish nausea. we can only write an honest critique, really disappointed!"
