"Went for a family celebration meal. Service was very attentive and friendly with no airs and graces – just solid, down-to-earth Yorkshire friendliness. As The Bay Horse was always first and foremost a traditional 'pub ', they have had to adapt over the years to focus on the food offering and I think they have managed it really well – the small menu still manages to cater for most tastes and they were easily able to cater for 'off menu ' requests (none of the 'sorry, that 's how the meal comes ' nonsense you get in chain restaurants). The food came out promptly, was nice and hot, and it certainly all appeared to be freshly-cooked. Yes, we had a couple of hiccups (one meal was accidentally missed off for example), but it was dealt with sensibly. Prices were a little on the high side for pub food, but to be fair, we have seen that quite a lot recently so I assume it 's just inflation (for example, simple things like bangers and mash, that I 'd normally expect to be around £12, were £16). Overall we were very happy with our food and managed to eat almost every last bit, although that left some of us feeling rather full as the portions are quite generous."

I ordered lamb. It was just lumps of gristle with tough meat. Another customer doubted if it really was lamb. I was disappointed. But they gave me chicken as a substitute and waived the price of the drinks.

Just back from having a meal here and boy was it good. Had squid between us for starter. Both had rump steak for main course and was best n tasty steak I've had in a long long time. Service was brilliant. All staff were top notch.

Amazing. Been a few times now and excellent food every time. I do find I have to leave some (which I don't like doing) because of the big portions. Not sure if most people eat everything on their plate. But the flavour and quality is exceptional.

We have been here for lunch before and the had our pre wedding BBQ here in September. Both times we have been the food and service has been amazing. The pub is really cosy but also modern, with a lovely beer garden. Thank you for making the start of our wedding weekend so great! View menu

We came to the restaurant as we were staying down the road. We had not booked but on arrival staff were able to find us a table. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite suggesting places to visit whilst in the area. There is a good selection of food on the menu. The meal came quickly and was the steak was well cooked and delicious! Worth a visit if you are in the area

What a great little place. Went for a sunday dinner and what a nice warm friendly atmosphere. The food was cooked to a very high standard and the meat was very good quality. I think this has just become one of my favourite places for a sunday dinner. Will definitely be returning. Really friendly young waitress (matilda) who was very pleasant and gave us some good information on the village

I am so glad we have discovered somewhere local to get delicious home cooked pub food. I have been twice in the last month, once for lunch and once for dinner. Perfect lunch menu sandwiches chips : The fish finger sandwich was huge. My husband had the burger and said it was one of the best he's ever had. This week I went for dinner and had the pea and mint risotto, it was absolutely delicious. The staff are very friendly and service was really good. The pub decor is also beautiful with a gorgeous beer garden. I will definitely be back soon. View menu

We have just had the most wonderful overnight stay at the Bay Horse Inn. It was the perfect stopover on our journey from Dundee to Folkestone for Le Shuttle. The staff are just lovely; friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our room had everything you need for a great stay: double sockets either side of the bed, a dressing table with mirror and double socket, air conditioning/heating, surfaces for toiletries in the bathroom, a comfy bed, a good shower and lots of space. It was lovely and quiet too. A real bonus is the restaurant/bar. We ate in the bar as we had our dog with us. The food is absolutely excellent. Breakfast is served in the sister establishment, Goldsborough Hall, a two minute stroll...

Have been wanting to visit for the last few years and finally made it for Sunday lunch. Lovely pub and delightful village will have to return in Summer as the garden is fabulous. We were a group of seven and we had more or less different choices. The goats cheese mousse starter was just fabulous only complaint was that if it should have been ten times larger and a main dish! Hubby and grandson had the beef burger and game burger which were massive, including cheese, bacon and onion rings, the two portions of roast beef and Yorkshire were massive. My fish and chips were good, although the chips were cold and the fish had certainly been waiting a while and was Luke warm, but as we were guests,...

"all those people who leave 1 star (or low star reviews) have either extremely high expectations or just have to be out to harm the call of a gem of a sandwich shop. I stopped yesterday, was late for lunch to my surprise and joy that they were still open, was a waiting queue to eat, so I might have been happy that they thought they would do 1 more order. I had the cheese-cutney sandwich couldn't resist the Scotch egg with black pudding. the Scotch egg was phenomenal, black pudding mixed with the sausage meat, a soft egg yolk practically still runny, which I really did not expect to add only to the already large aromene, the egg comes with a small pot homemade brown sauce (ketchup is an option, but I prefer brown soße) also the soße is a normal but it is a manifestation, it is a the sandwich was ineffective, thick-cut cheese on a homemade roll with homemade chutney (I suppose when everything else was made home) filled with fresh salad, I am curious what the difference between this is the ploughman’s, as it was in the round a ploughmans sandwich. the brot, cheese salad were all fresh taste amazing, the chutney transformed it, was like a cross between chutney salsa like the brown sauce was more sweet without much flavor, but really a great amount taste to what was possibly the best sandwich I had ever had! well made youngs, eating is great a try worth. reasonably also consider that it is the center of harrogate."

"service the service was mixed: the woman who took our beverage order looked like she had more important things with which she could proceed. However, a man came by and spent a good 5-10 minutes walking through the menu, explain all the options and said they were ready to offer everyone: nothing would be too much annoyed. this improved the experience and after that, the woman returned and seemed much happier to deal with us. besides the first quibble, the service was very good. food that was excellent. I went for a selection of 3 mini burgers who were very nice. all the others on the table also enjoyed their dishes (the ribs were particularly delicious. the prices were not too bad, but my miniburgers cost more than 1 big burgers that would have been good, but the minis were mini! I would bite-size say so that I wish they had been a little bigger than I felt at the end still hungry. I liked the idea to try 3 mini-burgers, but now I know the sizes, I would recommend going for a favorite bigger burger. if everything else fails, they could try their HUGE stackburgers. while I didn't see you coming out of the kitchen, they sounded impressive! atmosphere the only thing that really left this place. it was relatiw calm (probably because it is largely based on recommendations, because it is not close to the city center and so they would not stumble without knowing its existence! the worst part was the music. the restaurant seems to have a strange fascination with elvis presley to play his borrower on the loop. I'm not sure if they do this all the time, but it makes me think again, I'd have to sit three times through elvis's biggest hits. overall the restaurant is very pleasant and I would recommend that everyone there is one going. if they love burgers, there is something for them; but even if they don't, there are many pizzas and other great choices to choose."
