We really enjoyed our meal at 1863. Lovely welcoming staf and a delicious well presented lunch menu. Overall, great value.

This restaurant is absolutely incredible. The food was exquisite, and the staff were exceptional and well-informed. It offers a relaxed Michelin dining experience at its finest. My niece and I enjoyed the taster menu for the second time, and we were once again very satisfied. The attention to detail in the presentation of the food was superb, and each dish was full of flavor. The service from the waitstaff was excellent; they thoroughly described each course to us. The only downside was a couple seated nearby who clearly didn’t appreciate high-quality food and seemed more suited to pub fare. Overall, I would rate the service a 5. View menu

The food and service were outstanding. It was truly a culinary delight, featuring unique ingredients that made every bite a joy. The staff explained each course in detail and were incredibly helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a couple who didn't seem to appreciate the effort that goes into creating such a menu and were rather rude. Despite that, I will definitely return for another visit, and this isn't my first time dining here. Service: 5/5

Sensational restaurant, is the only way to describe our experience of 1863. Pre booked knowing we were going to be in the area. Booked in for the 5 course afternoon tasting menu. Pre warned the front of house my wife is pregnant, and they were on the ball from the first second. Ensuring the menu was ok for her, reassuring that all restricted food types had either been removed and substituted for safe options for her. The staff were nothing short of spectacular, the venue is cosy and charming, the wine list substantial but considered and pocket friendly. Renowned for its vertiginous landscape and breathtaking views the lake district has always been a firm favourite for the outdoor type. But in recent times Cumbria has quietly built a reputation as a first class foodie destination boasting the most Michelin star restaurants in a county outside London. We were keen to try the ambitious 1863 in Pooley Bridge proudly named after the date it was built.
