"Visited this pub as our boat had broken down on the Lancaster Canal. A few pints later and a chat with Pete the Landlord, he had helped supply takeaway menus, as it was late evening, rang the order through and before the order arrived, carried...on our conversation. We were made extremely welcome from start to finish. Then once our Chinese food arrived, he arranged for his wife Ness to drop us off back at our boat. From being a bit fed up about our boats problems, to ending up having a nice evening and enjoying Pete and Ness' hospitality, we had a lovely time and plan to go back soon for a meal. Pete/Ness, I wish all pins were like yours, thank you for looking after us. Chris Jules"

Relaxed and friendly atmosphere with a warm welcome from the staff. Sunday lunch was delicious and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Beef was superb. Very reasonably priced too. We will return without a doubt.

Lovely cosy country pub. Excellent food. Warm real fire burning on a very cold day. We had a very relaxed lunch at the Wheatsheaf. Good choice of food including smaller portions for those of us with smaller appetites

we're over today on the way to lunch! we were not disappointed. friendly service, great menu, delicious food and great value for money. as vegetarian there was a lot to choose what was great. my daughter said, "It's like the heavens. to eat a fork," I think it's all thanks that we're back!

today for lunch with my sister and my friend, for the first time in old. the food was fresh, tasty and very cheap. the service was fast and efficient by staff who were friendly and happy to have a chat and laugh during serving without slowing down. the service or someone else wait a real ability in a server. the wheatsheaf has recently received new owners who have met the floor in the difficult time for all in the industry. on today's presentations they will be a great success. I wish them well and can promise that we are back

We had a family meal here to celebrate our son’s birthday. We were a big group so were asked to give preorders which was no problem and made the whole evening stress free. Every meal that came out was delicious and hot, no complaints from...anyone about starters, mains, or the gigantic deserts! We also brought a cake which was looked after very well. The owners and staff couldn’t do enough to help us out and looked after us brilliantly. We couldn’t have asked for a more lovely environment for a big family meal, will definitely be visiting again.
