"An Ideal Lunch Experience! The ambiance and service are outstanding! The local craft beers on tap are delightful, and the gin and raspberry tonic is incredibly refreshing after a long hike. The sandwiches are unique and very reasonably priced. I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken and chutney sandwich, while my wife opted for the roast beef, which was fresh and flavorful. We'll definitely be returning soon to try dinner as well. If you're visiting Dorset, be sure not to miss this spot!"

I just spent the weekend there, and despite the terrible weather outside, we were warm and cozy inside. The atmosphere of the Inn is fantastic, and we absolutely loved our dinner. We will definitely be coming back, hopefully with better weather!

We had a rare date night out to celebrate a birthday, and it did not disappoint. The hospitality was outstanding, and the food—elevated pub fare—was delicious. The atmosphere was charming and unpretentious, typical of a lovely village pub. I hope we can make this an annual tradition!

We just got back from a three-night stay and can't wait to return! Maya, our dog, absolutely loved it—it was such a wonderful discovery for both her and us. A big thank you to Natalie and Lizzie for their warm welcome on Monday afternoon, and to the entire team for their care throughout our stay! Denise, Jeremy, and Maya xxx View menu

We were on a very quick stay, with our two dogs, but we will be back! Room was comfortable and super quiet Tess with the windows out over the pavement. We didn't have dinner but did have a divine chocolate mousse dessert which melted in our mouths, and very nice red wines. Had to head out early but managed a quick Eggs Benedict and Eggs Royale. Will be back to spend more time and Hardy energy in the area!

Always a great choice for a special meal. The menu is diverse, and the wine list is well curated. It's clear that a lot of attention is given to both the preparation and presentation of each dish. The staff are polite and friendly. I select this restaurant for my birthday lunch every year when I visit the area. Highly recommended—you can't go wrong here. I should also mention the location is fantastic; Evershott is a delightful village with a few nice walking trails.

"We have had many memorable lunches and suppers at Summer Lodge since moving from London to Dorset, it was always the go to place for a celebration. Honeymoon, Birthdays and anniversary’s. The staff were always helpful, friendly and accommodating. The fabulous wine waiter would recommend the best that he could offer and the food was always exquisite and culinary outstanding. Today however was quite a disappointment. Standards have fallen drastically, gone is the attention to detail, and the staff really have not a clue how to serve their customers that are forking out a tremendous amount of money to eat in this establishment. Service was slow and when it came…we were met with a very impatient and arrogant man (I believe his name was Phil) I don’t know where he gained his grades at charm school?? The service was not at all what we have previously experienced. We ordered starters…no napkins, (don’t forget this is supposed to be a 5 hotel) they arrived and to be honest the goats cheese mousse was pitiful, in total it was half a dessert spoon of mousse and loads of garnish, the mackerel was a slither with a scrape of garlic purée….it was ok but, nothing to write home about. Then the mains arrived……beef cheek and mash that was totally crucified. The duck….again was just duck flavoured pulp…the only saving grace was the dessert, lemon posset, this was really good. The service was substandard and not attentive at all, attention to detail is no longer there. I feel sad about this as SL was always our destination place to go for that ‘Special occasion’ It’s hellish expensive and you should expect more. Standards are very very low and the staff no longer come from Europe….enough said about that. All in all we won’t be returning to what was once a very special place for us."
