"We have passed this pub many times and decided to go on Sunday 3rd September for the carvery. There was a lovely choice of vegetables, roast potatoes, mash potatoes, roast parsnips, cabbage, carrots, peas, leeks in cheese sauce, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding and stuffing. A choice of meats, turkey, beef, gammon and pork. I am a turkey kinda girl, my friend had a bit of each and my partner went with beef and pork. We all thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday carvery. It was £9.99 on a Sunday with, I think it is cheaper in the week We sat outside as the weather was lovely and we had the dog with us, although dogs are also allowed inside. This pub also offers a meal for the dog. Meat, mash and gravy £2.50. We didn't bother as our dog is that fussy, didn't know if he would eat it. The food was that nice we went back again today, Monday 4th September for tea. Only me and my partner today and we both went for the griddled chicken breast (it was huge) in herbs with vegetables, choice of potatoes (chips, mash, new potatoes or jacket potato) and a choice of mushroom sauce or cheese sauce £10.90. Again we couldn't fault the food. We will be going back as I intend to work my way through the menu. It really is worth giving it a try if you are looking for somewhere to eat"

The steak was delicious and visually appealing, it was so good we had to take a photo. The triple cooked chips were a hit and my mum enjoyed her shepherd's pie while my dad was satisfied with his liver and onion dish. Overall, everyone left the restaurant happy.

Visited here while camping in the area. It did not disappoint so we visited every night of our trip! Warm welcoming pub, friendly staff, nice varied menu, we tried a new dish every night and we enjoyed them all. Would highly recommend and would visit again when in the area.

Liver bacon? Where was the bacon? All served on a cold dish. Sent it back to be heated up. My wife's tikka masala was just warm. Why do chefs serve hot food on cold plates? They don't serve salads on hot plates? They lad on the carvery was on his phone all the time, complete with headphones...?

Tired roadside village pub. Friendly staff Sunday lunch carvery was disappointing but we did have a late 3pm booking. The vegetables were sadly processed which in the height of summer and a glut of produce was really sad. Peas, sliced carrots, a cheesy leek mixture and watery cabbage, the meat however, was very good and fresh although a little dry

Don't be fooled by the appearance of this place. It is a hidden gem for dining and is also dog-friendly. The menu is extensive and offered at a great price. They even have a special meat mash and gravy option for dogs. My t-bone steak was cooked perfectly and my partner's dish was also excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant for its delicious food.

What a treat. We all really enjoyed our meal. It was presented well and tasted amazing. Especially the liver and bacon.. Yum, Yum.. We followed with a pudding. Apple pies with custard.. and profiteroles with Cheesecake. We all want to congratulate the chef and staff on the quality of the food and service. Well done.. Would highly recommend this as a place to eat!

Even though the exterior of this small pub may not seem like much, the interior is cozy and inviting. A major plus was that it was dog-friendly throughout the entire establishment. There were plenty of options on the menu and the food was generously portioned, delicious, and reasonably priced. We ended up visiting twice during our stay in the area and had a great experience both times.

Used this pub last year and although there was a long wait, the food was good. This year, when ordering we were told wait would be one hour, it turned out to be 1 hr 45mins. Food was quite average, ribs were sinewy and tough, vegan lasagne was disappointing, pasta bolognese meat was lumpy, chips were nice, salad and burgers were OK. The long wait, with kids, was tedious, and we skipped dessert as a result. Will not be going again.

Looking for somewhere to eat and we thought we would take a chance. Looks can be deceptive from the outside it looked ordinary but inside a warm welcome, very extensive menu and a good range of drinks including a choice of alcohol free. We had the pie of the day, mixed grill and ribs. All great. Hot, well cooked. We had not noticed the missing onion rings but the chef did and he brought them out in a bowl. Nice chips. Would recommend if you are out this way.

"I've been in Horncastle on business twice once on a Monday, once on a Tuesday and both times found the town mostly closed for business in the evenings. This time, just as I was on the point of deciding people in Lincolnshire must have a tradition of fasting on a Tuesday evening, I came across The Bull. This attractive old coaching hotel looked inviting, and the staff offered me a friendly welcome. The warmly lit, high ceilinged interior of this Georgian inn was full of diners (Yes on a Tuesday! Take note, other restauranteurs of Horncastle) and the ambiance was convivial. The selection of beers behind the bar was good and the two pints I drank were tasty and well kept. I was presented with two bar menus, a separate burger menu and shown a fish menu and a steak menu on the wall. (I understand tapas is also available at weekends). Quite a choice! The bar menus largely consisted of what you might call traditional pub grub of the best kind. Within that massive choice, there must have been at least half a dozen dishes I was really tempted by but, eventually, I plumped for the cauliflower soup followed by the pork belly, mash, peas and apple gravy. Both courses were outstanding and extremely generous in size, especially the pork belly. My only disappointment was that I hadn't room in my distended belly to squeeze in a spotted dick for pudding! My bill, for such a large and excellent meal, was very modest. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at The Bull and would definitely eat and/or drink there again."
