"We happened upon this place when we visited Montsegur one lunchtime. We didn't like the look of the other restaurants in the village but this colourful little cafe had a friendly and welcoming vibe and seemed very reasonably priced. We went for a small veggie plate and a large plate including cheese and meat. There was a bit of a wait (which the waitress had explained to us - it seemed she was the only person working there) but we happily sat in the sunshine and enjoyed the delicious smells coming from the kitchen. When the food arrived it was fresh and delicious. Even my small plate was not small at all and very filling. It was a bargain - our bill for lunch came to €22 including drinks, making it the excellent value. If I return to Montsegur, I'll definitely incorporate a trip to Le Bitropot."

Generous portions, reasonable prices and everything locally sourced and freshly made. After climbing to see Montsegur - stop here for a bite.

Agnes is a wonderful and charming host. The outdoor tables are best if weather permits. Menu is limited—just take the special for the day for lunch and book dinner if you want it (fixed menu, price includes good house wine). Did not have a single bad meal here in three days. View menu

A family visit to the lovely village of Montsegur topped off nicely when we stumbled upon Bitropot. Our excellent friendly hostess served us a very tasty quiche and soup for lunch and gave us the recipe when requested. Very reasonable prices and good home cooking. A delight.

We stopped off in Montsegur village after climbing up to the castle. We wandered around the charming streets and discovered this quaint little cafe. We had a coffee and a hot chocolate. The owner was friendly and chatted. There was a lovely old English sheepdog snoozing in the corner. A great find.

This place provided the evening meals part of our demi-pension deal in our Cathar Way walk. It's in an old building which has been very tastefully renovated. Agnes, the owner/chef(?)/waitress is a real character, very efficient and good company. The food and service are superb - a credit to all concerned. So, if you are in the region, eat here - you won't be disappointed Strongly recommended. View menu

We'd passed this restaurant early in the week and heard the sound of live piano coming from the windows (owner's husband). We returned a couple of days later for lunch and ordered the large plat - quiche, dried sausage (merguez, I think), couscous, salad, olives, delicious cheeses and bread. It was effectively a huge and very superior ploughman's. The lady owner/manager was very friendly and helpful, the service very good and the food spot-on.

We popped in on a cold and rainy July day expecting to just have coffee. We decided however to try the quiche of the day with soup to try and warm ourselves up. We couldn't have been happier- yummy courgette quiche that I was kindly given the recipe for, with a vegetable soup. Incredibly good value with lovely coffee at just €1.50 each. Even sat on the terrace under a mini marquee which was great to listen to the rain whilst enjoying our lunch. Would thoroughly recommend.
