"The culinary offerings at this establishment are nothing short of remarkable. I had the pleasure of ordering the Halloumi kebab, which arrived fresh, piping hot, and exquisitely delicious. The quality of the food was truly outstanding, leaving a lasting impression. Additionally, the staff members contributed to the overall enjoyment of the dining experience. Their friendly and amiable demeanor, coupled with engaging conversations, added a personal touch to the meal. While it is true that the food service might have been a tad slow, the ultimate reward of the exceptional gastronomy made the wait entirely worthwhile."

Firstly, the pub is super cosy and lovely inside. We have always been pleased with the food too. The only issue I have is that the beer is quite often flat. I’ve taken it back and they have tried to liven it up, but it...

Firstly the food was good but the staff are not. All stood around at the end of the bar talking. Drinks delivered and plonked on the end of the table quickly then walking off with no thanks or passing across to us. Really has put... View menu

We stopped off at the Boar's Head in Standish for drinks and food on a Friday evening. The decor is good with a heated outdoor space. The food and drinks were good and the staff were quite friendly. The only drawback were the toilets which would need improving and updating. Hopefully when we return this will have changed. View menu

I have to say that the food is excellent, freshly cooked, hot and very big tasty portions. Unfortunately the service lets it down. The staff appear to be more interested in talking to each other or their friends who were in drinking. Not very attentive and we had to either go to the bar or try our best to get their attention when we wanted drinks. On top of this our mains came out whilst we were still on our starters. I would eat here again but service could be better.

Came here today after a long drive up from South Wales and were looking for somewhere to stop for a late lunch. We saw the lovely outdoor seating area so thought we'd give it a go.Im so glad we did as the food was delicious. My husband had gammon and chips which looked fabulous and I ordered a ploughman's. I've got to say,it was the best ploughman's I've had anywhere. Beautifully presented and delicious. Staff were friendly too.If we are ever up this way again we will be sure to return.

"After reading the reviews we was really looking forward to eating here ,however it turned out to be the worst tapas and worst service we have ever received . After waiting 10 minutes for someone to take our drinks order we then waited a further 30 mins to be served with what can only be described as toast with tasteless mushed up tomatoes on , this was inedible and hardly touched , a further 20 minutes on and we was served a single dish of chicken between two of us again this was very bland and resembled nothing like a original tapas dish more like a chicken korma again this was hardly touched . When I enquired as to where the rest of the food was I was told they was very busy . With this we decided to cut our loses and asked for the bill . Before leaving we tried to have a conversation with the manager who is also the chef to give some honest feedback ,however he wasn’t open to listening , he’s response was “it’s normal in a tapas restaurant to receive one dish at a time between two with a large gap between dishes wasn’t it explained to you that’s what tapas is “We felt this was a very patronising remark as we eat tapas on a regular basis and know this is definitely not the case . To matters worse there was people who came in after us with multiple plates and tucking in nicely to their meals . The manager who was obviously struggling to cope on a busy Saturday night should have just apologised and admitted our order had been overlooked . If you are looking for authentic Tapas with excellent service in Wigan go to Casa Carlos this place doesn’t deserve your hard earned money ."
