"Was an interesting experience. Not the traditional Thai restaurant many will be use to. They are more of an luxury authentic Thai experience not expected in Alton definitely similar to some London restaurants. The food is amazing but does take a while to be served as cooked fresh. For my teens the was menu restricted as they are use to pad Thai, authentic prawn crackers, red curry, massaman, panang etc. with the option of having the dishes with chicken. Menu is great for seafood lovers including myself. For me the restaurant is perfect for a date night or with groups of adults. The price of the dishes is on the higher end, this is expected as using good quality ingredients and really well presented dishes. I did miss the prawn crackers and the option to have flat rice noodles. 4 starters, 4 mains and drinks came to around £120. Two teens and two adults. Definitely will go again. You should try it. "Came here for my wife's birthday this evening, we were seated upstairs and were looked after by Swizel Rodriguez, who was simply lovely to us all evening. She had decorated the table with some birthday ribbons and banners and gave it all a real personal touch, almost as if being welcomed into her own home. Elsewhere the service was very good, our food drinks came out in good time not too fast not too slow. We both had medium 12oz rib eye steak... The nicest flavoured steak I've had in a long time, I almost didn't want to put the peppercorn sauce on (but I love peppercorn sauce, so I did! . To finish we had desserts brought by the rest of the H.K team who sung happy birthday to my wife. An all round lovely evening at a place I can't fault. 10/10."

"A break in the weather so we walked up to the house admiring the setting. On arrival, the door to the tea shop had a table in the way see photograph. A waitress popped her head out the door and looked at me as if she wondered what we were doing there. 'Are you still serving....cake? ' says I. 'Yes, take a seat ' and she gestured to one of the courtyard tables. We took a table the only customers (or so we thought). The waitress came to take our order I was so looking forward to a slice of cake. Imagine my disappointment when the only offerings were shortbread, brownie or scones. So we plumped for a cream tea (no fruit scones available, only plain) and a brownie. Now it is a pretty courtyard...but not in the pouring rain. Being British, we sheltered under a parasol to enjoy our tea. Unfortunately, the scone was microwaved and they forgot the brownie, but served two cream teas?! When my jeans started to get wet, we decided not to hang around and so I went to settle up. On paying (at the doorway) I looked to the left and saw another couple sitting at a table INDOORS ...all warm and toasty, plus lots of empty tables. I asked the waitress why couldn 't we have been seated indoors. Her reply 'They were reserved '. Really? We had been there 15 minutes and no one had arrived or left. It was 3.15 on a wet and windy Friday afternoon. I really felt as if we had been an inconvenience."

"Was very excited to visit the pub after reading the reviews posted on here last night being 7th March although it was early doors came away a little disappointed. The barman/ waiter appeared to be the only person on duty and really dressed for the occasion. He was polite and friendly but stretched we placed our order waited it arrived. One fish dish and one meat dish great emphasis was place on bringing us our jus to accompany our meal. My plate consisted of rubber cold french beans a splodge of equally cold pea puree although the lamb was cooked to perfection as were the very small portion of potatoes, my husband fish equally as good but was accompanied by the same red meat jus as mine and noticed when leaving most of the restaurant had. (it was very similar to bisto) we asked to see the desert menu it eventually arrived but was then left for a considerable amount of time as the conversation at the bar was a little more important needless to say we paid and left so a little uncertain about a return visit. To sum things up the meal was mediocre if not a little petite lacked vegetables and tepid. Really had this down as our nxt fav restaurant in Alton ."

"Helpful staff member explained when I booked for Tuesday night that they serve only tapas earlier in the week. On arrival happy to be told they’d decided to serve the full menu that night resulting in an unexpectedly excellent, keenly priced meal. Pigeon breast with beetroot purée starter, cajun spice coated chicken breast and lemon posset for me, duck breast cassoulet and a huge apple crumble with masses of vanilla custard for my pudding loving spouse. Both agreed it was hard to see how our meals could have been bettered, especially at these prices, with all 3 meats ‘just so’ juicy and tender with good accompaniments and attentive friendly service. Having praised the food to our server he explained that the chef had cooked in Michelin restaurants and it showed! Will definitely eat at The George again next time we are in the area!"
