"I visited this restaurant with my family for Sunday dinner. My husband had never been here before, but I had dined at several locations, so I was a bit anxious about my choices for appetizers and desserts. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find that the appetizer soup was quite tasty, though it felt more like a salad selection that you might find at a pub like the Harvester. There was no fruit salad offered for dessert, which is something I always look forward to, especially after enjoying the delicious main course. The dessert options were mediocre, and while a bowl of fruit is a perfect finish for those who don’t enjoy heavy desserts, the trifle was a bit of a mess after some servings. The cheese and cookies looked appealing, though. This evening was meant to be a special celebration for a 40th wedding anniversary, but unfortunately, the meal didn't live up to that occasion. I really wish they would bring back the old appetizers and desserts!"

Dreadful service, cold restaurant, unknowledgable staff, average food. Cocktails served on arrival were not proper cocktails and we had to ask several times.

We dined at 6:45pm with a 2 year old. At 7:45pm no food had arrived. The waitresses were mostly friendly but not attentive and missed that we had not been served. At 8pm they rushed out our daughters pasta. 15 mins later our steaks arrived- over cooked. Very disappointed.

Lovely Sunday roast, very good value the staff who served us was friendly and welcoming. The toilets however were very outdated and not in keeping with the restaurant and the lobby. The toilet windows had cobwebs over them, and the sink area had grime. The lounge is a very welcoming area to enjoy post lunch coffee but again is in need of some TLC especially the waste of space small room you walk through to get to the lounge, the space could be utilized more and freshened up to match the standard in the restaurant. Unfortunately, the quality of the food has dramatically declined this year. We’ve gone from being impressed by a variety of well-presented dishes made with quality ingredients to receiving a less-than-desirable selection of food that appears to come from pre-packaged or frozen sources. While the waiting staff remains unchanged, continuing to be friendly, courteous, and helpful, it’s disappointing that due to the poor quality of the food, we will not be booking again. I don’t blame the kitchen staff; there’s only so much they can do with cheap ingredients. I suspect that Abbey Park may lose some of their head chefs and kitchen staff this year. True chefs would not want to be associated with...

This was our second visit to the Bramblings and I have to say we were very disappointed. Our table was for 1pm so only 30mins after lunch service began and already food was running out and staff were slow to replenish the platters. Of the three meats being served the turkey was nice after waiting for a fresh one, the gammon was very salty and the beef very rare. In fact all of my family who opted to try the beef found that it was very difficult to cut and very chewy. The waitress/waiter service was poor and after waiting for 15 mins we opted to settle the bill rather than wait any longer for coffee. For a restaurant where bookings are necessary you would expect better organisation given that...

"Arrived a few minutes early at 3.15pm for our 3.30pm booking. Very warm welcome from blonde waitress at bar. Very quickly seated by dark haired waitress with glasses who wasn 't very friendly from the start. Pub was fairly busy on arrival but soon became pretty quiet, perhaps explaining our tail end of service poor experience. Wine list had to be chased as didn 't arrive. Drinks also had to be chased. Service to actually place our order had to be chased as we were seemingly abandoned after asking for a few minutes to chose our meals after being asked for our order only a couple of minutes after arrival. Further service had to be chased from our dead zone later in the meal. These were details only, very annoying but par for the course these days sadly. The main and more significant issue was the quality of the roast beef. Tough to the point that you could not cut it. Also delivered not as requested in terms of cooking so lots of back and forth to get our meat cooked as we had asked. Numerous veg were cold or luke warm. Several yorkshire pudding way beyond crisp to the point of being burnt. Excessive salt on majority of veg. Manageress arrived fairly quickly and was initially responsive but the experience at this stage was already hugely spoiled. Replacement food was much better but by that stage we had been put off the whole lunch and to reflect this were offered 2 glasses of wine and a portion of custard to compliment our dessert! This place has been unreliable since the start of the Giles ownership. The family attitude to customers is poor. We asked for the manager to review the bill to reflect the poor experience and ended up being passed a phone to talk to the manager who had gone home. This some 3 hours after we entered the pub due to the awful experience we had encountered."
